    Imaginary Lap Band :-)

I think this is a great idea. chewing, chewing, chewing was the hardest thing for me to get. I would start out doing it, then forget and gobble! I tried several flavors of whey protein powder. some I really did not like! I had a hard time not drinking with the meal ( I'm good now!). I think that could help you a lot. remembering protein 1st will be easier if you start now too! Good luck and have fun !!

    Papaya Enzyme

the papaya enzyme is a chewable item. we can all have them without trouble. they would work the same as Gasx.

    Beans

I use calorie king, com for calorie, carb. fat & sodium info. black beans have 20 grams of carbs per 1/2 cup. meat will give you your best protein numbers without carbs.

    Freaking Out

the trick is try small amts of anything new. you will be on liquids for 2- 3 weeks after surgery so don't worry now. I remember how good everything I ate tasted! it was such a small amt. but sooo good. I stay away from bread & pasta, too many carbs. popcorn's not good either. Luckily we are all different...you will see what works for you! I don't enjoy beef much, it is sad I haven't tried steak but I know I'll have to chew forever!

List Of Vitamins Needed After Surgery

my doc gave me a list of the vits. they want me to take with dosage. try to use the best products possible, stay away from the chewable that have lots of sugar and low vitamin doses. I went to Whole foods and bought a liquid vit. and calcium/magnesium. it is really important that you get your vitamins. we eat such a small amount of food that we have to have the best we can afford.

Nsv.. Just In The Nick Of Time

Good for you! those comments really make a big difference don't they.
  12. your doctor will tell you what they expect you to do to get ready. I was told to lose 5% of my weight, that is to shrink the liver. any weight you can lose before will really help. have you talked to a doc yet? be sure to check many of the forum topics. you will learn a lot about the whole process. welcome to lapband land.

    Wow...i Gave Up Sugar

know that it takes between 6 - 8 weeks for sugar cravings to go away. you can do it!! I use stevia for a sweetener now in my tea. great idea to start with the crafts, I scrapbook and it has saved my life! start walking as much as you can too, it will firm up your body. whatever you lose before the surgery will feel so GOOD.

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info

Thank you that is great!! I had stopped using artificial sweeteners awhile ago. there are so many bad effects, and many I am sure will show up! Love that you mentioned butter! I am always careful with the amount of butter I use and feel good about it! Dr. Oz had a guy on last week that also mentioned not eating "diet" foods. we all have so much to learn. reading labels is the one I work on most! I love all the info we get her....
  15. it might be easier if you have them a few months apart. I know my husband helped me so much after the surgery. we have dogs, I couldn't bend down to get their food, I could lift one of them, he did the vacuuming for me. So many other things that I really appreciated!
  16. thank goodness all that food is out of sight! Christmas day was difficult!!

    Hello Fellow Lap Banders

thank you for sharing !! love a success story, enjoy that wonderful baby! he's adorable!
  19. Each day is a new beginning! Start to do what you know is right, try to remember you are worth much more than food! Call the doc on Monday, I'm sure you are not the 1st person to fall off the band wagon.... I think one of the most important reasons I stay on track is my family - I feel I have made a commitment. that commitment is for me and them. Who can you put in that category, it really helps to have a person or group to cheer you on.
  20. made it through the Christmas Eve dinner! enjoyed it all but on a small scale!

  21. each day is a new one. give the cookie and fudge away....... oh and put the shame is the garbage can! get back to the things you know are important. we all make these stupid moves, but we are never going to give up now!!!!
  22. wow, love to hear it!! onward.....

    Help!! Can't Swallow Vitamins!

I agree with Dave_NW use good vits. the gummy ones have wayyyyy to much sugar. Country Life has liqguid vitamins, I get a separate liquid one one for calcium. Be sure to use citrate calcium for the best absorption.
  24. you are still on liquids aren't you? that is probably why you feel hunger! I did not worry about how many times I "drank" something at that point. It did not cause weight gain.

    Feeling Out Of Control

I didn't dare make any cookies, bar, nothing this year! I knew I would want to eat it all!! you have had ONE bad day, leave it behind and start over tomorrow!! we all have done similar things and we all feel the same when we do it!!!! your progress has been good, keep going!
