readytogoforit replied to ChocolateChips's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
sip your water. and walk, walk, walk. also buy GASX it will help the gas pain. this is all normal, not to worry!! honestly keep walking a little at a time, keep trying. it will help so much. you will not stretch anything at this point. this too shall pass, we all experienced it - and hated it! -
Did I Expect Too Much?
readytogoforit replied to TerryNewt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
she brought up a really good point. she does not have lots of loose skin, that's because the weight left at a slow and steady pace. that really good! My weight loss has slowed to 1 or 2 lbs a week also. I try to reassure myself everyday!! I know I would not be down 57 lbs on my own, that's a fact. don't compare yourself to others just keep going. when the blues hit distract yourself - walk, exercise, do for others, clean anything. I used to lay in the bottom of a pity bag. I did it for years!! I don't want to be down there anymore, not ever again. I will be patient, I will keep working on this oh so important goal. why, because I am worth it! God didn't make no junk... -

Questions About How Many Calories???
readytogoforit replied to shay33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked and they said to stay between 60 - 80 grams protein; 68 grams carb this alone puts a stop to eating a lot of calories. I am usually at 850 to 1100 at the end of the day. I rarely eat pasta, rice, potatoes. I occasionally have bread but it's Arnold's sandwich thins(about 100 cal). I concentrate on protein and will add veggies. rarely fruit. my splurge is a piece of good dark chocolate! are you exercising? drinking lots of water? -
I also love chocolate, I eat it too! I have decided that because I am worth it I will only eat the good stuff!! I buy a bar from Lindt. I allow myself 1 square, let me tell you I savor it. I have no problem with this as long as I log what I eat in myfitnesspal. I agree with the person who said I used to eat most of the bar and look for more! thank God for this band, it always make me think....

What Does Your Doctor/nutritionist Recommend For Your Post Lap-Band Diet?
readytogoforit replied to Toddy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow, they were really strict with you, 25 carbs!! I usually try for 60 - 90 protein; under 40 fat; under 68(that's what they gave me!) carbs. I love fish and try to eat it often. of course I drink lots of water and decaf liquids(tea). I try to exercise everyday, I have been trying to add to my routine and recently bought a resistance rope w/ dvd. seems like we need to stay ahead of food and exercise to keep losing. my lose has slowed to 1 or 2 lbs. each week. I am happy with the inches I have lost, down 4 sizes! love my band -
Dr Oz had the gentleman on his show as a guest, he is not telling anyone to do this.

agreed, as much as I still love Taco Bell I don't want to waste the calories, fat or carbs I have to log. I can eat so much better at home. I also like to shop organic. it is expensive but hopefully safer!

the dark chocolate with chili is so good. it is made by Lindt, one small square is about 50 calories of heaven! believe it or not it really satisfies that craving! I agree with bellaloco, if I am going to have chocolate it is going to be the best I can get.

Words Of Encouragement Please....sighs!!:(
readytogoforit replied to N3wm32012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, great news that you already lost 11 lbs., that must feel good! we all needed to started taking the vitamins! take 500 mg calcium 2X a day(citrate only), a good multi vitamin (high in B's, C & D ) I was told to take 200IU of vitamin D. I started all of this in July and I feel so good. You are worth the money it costs so don't buy the sugar ladened vitamins. talk to your doc about where to get the vits. all of this will help you be ready for your surgery. I know there's a lot to digest already, take it one day at a time. you will make it, we did! start drinking that water - lots of it! get rid of soda if it's your thing. go onto myfitnesspal.com and start logging everything you eat. it makes such a difference to know what you are putting into your body. it helps to make you more accountable too. read as much as you can on this forum, you will find lots of help. remember you did not gain this weight overnight, it will not leave overnight. be patient with yourself! every positive thing you do is good. you can do this. keep posting and asking questions, we love to help! -
detoxing is not an easy thing but you can do it. it takes about a month to be completely feeling the urge. do it one at a time, come on you can do it. I get the same thing when I drink coffee, I have started to substitute tea instead. I have tried many, my favorite companies are Teavana & Mighty Tea. I asked for teas that tasted like coffee - go from there. I am happy with my choices. it did take some getting used to but healthier.

wow, that is scary stuff. I am glad you are better now. I agree, if you are losing a lb each week that is great. i'm glad you didn't freak and start eating wildly again.I don't know what I would have done? I have been losing a lb. each week now too and I have been working so hard to believe that it is ok. I am losing, not gaining! keep doing your best, going in the correct direction - DOWN....

Has Anyone Else Encountered This?
readytogoforit replied to ieducate2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was anemic before my surgery due to a bleeding ulcer. I stopped drinking caffeine and feel good now. I also took iron supplement for awhile. my hemoglobin went down to 6.4, it should be closer to 12. they had to give me a blood transfusion. I am telling you this only because it was a fixable issue. my hemo is 13 now! -
I love hearing this! we all deserve to love ourselves...

just starting the process
readytogoforit replied to grmadeb01's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I love Jay Robb whey protein shakes. no carbs, stevia instead of sugar, 25 grams of protein. tastes good, I add unsweetened soy milk for a total of 32 grams of protein, no carbs! I buy it at a vitamin shoppe, I know GNC has it too. be careful what you buy some use questionable sugars. medical community attributes belly fat to them. use nothing with sucralose in it. did doc tell you to start taking vitamins? this is important; good calcium(citrate), vitamin D (200IU,.)and of course a good multi. start weaning yourself off of caffeine and sodas. start drinking lots of water, 64 oz each day. would be a good idea to start some sort of exercise. I joined Curves and started walking right away. everything you do now will make the surgical part easier. don't mean to scare you. you will feel so much better if you start right away, that's all. -
I buy a pizza from papa murphy's. they are thin crust deLITE pizza's. I love the chicken artichoke one. I cut and weigh on my digital scale, such a treat!!! I add extra spinach. 1 ounce = 65 calories 3.3 fat 4.7 carbs 4.4 Proteins

first slow down. I understand how you feel but I see you racing. Scared to death and racing. Try to go one day at a time, sometimes it's one minute at a time. Do not give in to every thought about food that pops into your mind. have a drink of water. do something to distract yourself. go for a short walk, anything but eat crap. if you have "junk" in the house, THROW IT OUT. you did not go through this surgery to give up. you'll make it, trust yourself and breathe....

Protein Powder Issues
readytogoforit replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love that little bottle, easy to clean also. good idea to get one for eggs! my bottle is a small one, about 8 oz. cost about $7. -
my journey started because of the hiatal hernia. they told me I had to have surgery and I said let's put a band around that stomach too! I had ulcers & reflux for years. I knew what to do to tame it, I chose not to. I kept drinking soda and coffee. last May my hemoglobin was down to 6.4, I had a transfusion and that's when they told me about the hernia. I thank God that my blood was so low, it made me stop and make some much needed changes. I do not have any reflux since surgery. I suppose I still have stomach lesions & I am trying to heal them with raw juices. I started drinking them about 3 weeks ago. I have been reading about the healing effects of juice so we will see. My mom died of colon cancer so I am hoping this will also be helpful for that probability. I have never felt so good. hope things get better for you Mekiger.
