I use jay Robb, just add soy milk. sometimes I add fruit (raspberries, mango, strawberries) I worry that the nutritional value is compromised in the premade.

readytogoforit replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vanilla Sky you hit it right on the head! it's not the daily, weekly, monthly loss. I need to look at this as the rest of my life. seems when I quit trying to control so much things work out best! I don't know how you made it for 5 mths but I'm glad you did! -
never used premade. why do you want premade?

readytogoforit replied to Chocolatefier's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
salmon, tuna, eggs, turkey breast, greek yogurt. be sure to try to get your protein by eating not drinking most of the time. we are changing our habits and planning good food choices is part of that. -
Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?
readytogoforit replied to Miss Meow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do not feel like a fraud. I may have looked it in that way before I really knew the truth about what we have to do to achieve success but not now!!! I told a few people in the beginning. I only have one friend who I'd say thinks we "took the easy way". she has been going to the gym and trying to lose weight for about 3 years now. She has lost weight but I've already passed her. I don't know what she does to cut calories and fat, I don't want her to justify how she is living. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. We know the truth, and as the Bible says the truth will set you free. I guess I think freedom fits. -
I had to have a letter form my primary doc for insurance. she did not want me to do the surgery because she had seen so many failures. she knows how hard another failure is on us. when I explained how I viewed this procedure she reluctantly sent a letter. I love my primary and completely understand where she is coming from. I think I did my homework, I understand to pros and cons, what my responsibility is and is not. this isn't a miracle and you need to know that from the beginning. we all work hard to achieve our loses. this has worked for me and I am very grateful for my primary doctor and the honesty she showed me.I have not been into her office to see her since my surgery, I plan to go soon. I am not expecting a big deal, I just want to share "the change". A change I have not seen in close to 35 years!!! I know, so sad.

are you exercising? that would definitely help with the boredom and lack of weight loss. you are still so early in the process, we all felt the same way. slow down, clean, exercise, anything but extra eating. please stop calling your new life style a diet. it is not a diet, we quit diets. we don't quit our new life!

Ok, I know we all tell of our favorite brand of Protein powder but, I wonder if you have a shaker? It is a small container with a metal ball in it to break up the powder. this makes such a difference for the taste! Vitamin shoppe, GNC they all carry them, buy the small one since we don't ever drink 32 oz. Makes such a difference you will love it! Now to tell you about my favorite protein whey powder. I use Jay Robb - no msg, no acesulfame-K, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial colors, no Aspartame, no Sucralose. Calories 110, Carbs 1, protein 25, sugars 0. And the best part is that it tastes soooo good. I love the chocolate but the strawberry was pretty good also. I buy it at the Vitamin Shoppe, they also have it at GNC. this should make a big difference for your pre-op diet. Good luck and welcome to such a great group of losers!!!!

I found a new bread at the store today. Arnold's already sells the sandwich thins, I love them, but these are mini's. they are about 3" in diameter , whole wheat, <1 gram fat, 11 g carb, 50 calories, 2.5 protein. still the same great taste only little. So helpful when carbs are such an issue!!!! Gotta love it.

I guess I'm a success story!
readytogoforit replied to lellow's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats ! you look so good. we need your story, we need to hear that life after is great. I love your tattoos. planning one for myself as a reward!! -
be sure to mention this to your doc, maybe a hiatal hernia. so many of us had one. if yes, they take care of it with your surgery. you do not want to have heartburn after your surgery.

Welcome to the forum! Good to have you but...... whoa, you are getting way ahead of yourself! the whole idea of liquids, mushies and the rest is to let your stomach heal. you just had surgery - slow down. yes, you will lose the most on clear liquid but that is not real living. congats on the amount you already lost, it will continue! continue to read posts from people who have been around a while. you will see how all of this works. Follow the instructions you were given by your doc and take it easy. start walking as much as you can so the shoulder pain does not take over. keep sipping your Water and eat your mushies.

Tomorrow Is The First Consultation
readytogoforit replied to dubsteppsycho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
food is a necessity to living. our problem is the choices we have made. the choices we have allowed. I still think about food alot. the difference is I am now thinking of proteins, carbs and trying to keep my numbers good. I measure everything with my digital scale. I never guess. I ate the best food yesterday, do you remember a time that you thought that? I have really started to enjoy mixed greens and fresh spinach. I don't eat most of my meals with bread anymore so now I us the greens as my "sandwich". I had the tastiest tuna fish with chopped pickle and 1 1/2 T of miracle whip light. I ate 4oz. felt full and loved it. for supper I had a turkey burger which I ate along side of some asparagus. ( steamed and I add a sprinkle of olive oil, lemon & sea salt) Heaven. One of my favs for breakfast is scrambled eggs with mushrooms & cheese. I use 1 egg and egg whites together, no butter. so good! I think this "new" life is making me more creative. you will get there, read all the posts on here. you will be surprised with the good things people eat! -
How Do You Get Your Protein In?
readytogoforit replied to littlerlou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your protein drink is way too small amt of protein! I drink Jay Robb 25 grams of protein + 7 with soy milk. half your day is covered! this tastes good, no carbs, stevia instead of belly fatting sugar or suralose sweeteners. I also eat tuna with a tbs. of light miracle whip, sardines, salmon, turkey burgers. I eat these without bread, usually have fresh spinach or mixed greens. I log my food on myfitnesspal.com it is easy to keep an eye on what I am building each day. -

Newbie Not Doing Well!
readytogoforit replied to u4leigh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think the hardest part for me is knowing how much less I eat now. seems like I should be losing more, more quickly! I never exercised, hardly walked before. Now I exercise 5 days a week. I read of others who have lost so much more weight. I want that, I am impatient. I have more than 100 to lose.... I don't mean to say I am going to give up, I lose weight every week and that is great. Seems like I think about food & what I will eat so many hours everyday. I try to distract by keeping busy, it works sometimes. I have told my nutritionist & massage therapist I will try to be more patient for at least the 1st year. Oh my!!! -
