2002 Band, Gerd, Esophagus Issues, Slacker About Followup
readytogoforit replied to sujormik's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
glad you have restarted your life. after you go to the Doc be sure to keep posting. sounds like you have been holding a lot of pain (emotional) inside. we all listen, it's safe here. -
have you started to log the food you eat each day? if not use myfitnesspal.com, so easy to use and see how the day is shaping up. reason I mentioned that is because most of us eat low carb (my nutritionist said 68 grams a day). many of us eat much less than 68! It is amazing how fast carbs add up. If I eat a protein bar, I usually count it as a meal( along with a salad or other veggie). I don't know this brand and I bet it's tasty, protein is good that's for sure.

Has Anyone Else Had A Hiatal Hernia Fix When They Where Banded?
readytogoforit replied to No Longer Banded!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yup, i had one too, doc said it was huge( about 10 centimeters). I had discomfort after my surgery, lots of shoulder pain. I walked (mostly in the house) allllll the time. Everyone on this site talked about walking so I took it very seriously. Doc said not to bend or twist for 6 weeks, no exercise. Just walk, a lot he said! I listened to what he said and all of a sudden the pain was gone. This too shall pass and we understand the concern you have. sip lots of water, do everything the doc says and you will do well! -
Patriceaa, so glad you talked to your Doc. I understand what you are saying, we never want to go back to that "place". I think your story reinforces the fact that I need to keep communicating all the way through this weigh loss journey. For me, health is the primary objective. I am a grandmother, I want to enjoy the kids. I love that I am starting to look like a female again after so many years too. I am a compulsive person so I have to watch were I am going. I think that is why your story scared me, I see me . I appreciate your honesty. Take care of you and yes I will pray.

I love when the scale goes down into the next 10 b. loss. I love that I weigh less than 18X. This whole process is so exciting, I would never have believed it!!! At least not for my life but, here I am!

Lucky2beLaura I think you are making your goals too large. how about a celebration at each 10 pounds. I know that sounds so small but, if you had not joined the band life would you lose anything? I know I wouldn't have. I like you I never weighed myself, ignorance is bliss HA HA, obviously not. Be proud of any progress you have! the new you cares about your health. that health comes a little at a time. keep posting, ask for help. you will get there, this is not a race. we are all soooo different but I think that's why this forum works so well.

Struggling With The New Eating Habits.....
readytogoforit replied to emmybell83's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
once I went to the seminar I started eating less, logging everything I ate, drinking Water like crazy. I was determined to not fail. I measure and weigh everything. I never guess. I have started to plan my foods for the first time ever. I think about Protein 1st, haven't had any ground beef since August. I have been experimenting with spices and eat a more varied supply of meats. So far I am having fun looking for new recipes. yesterday was a very stressful day and I ate a oatmeal raisin cookie and a too many carbs. The first thought that came to my mind was that I had failed. I felt like I should just eat whatever else I wanted. Luckily I snapped out of it after I logged all the stuff I ate. Yes, I did not like what I saw in the food log but it was one day, one error. Today was a good day, I feel back on track. I hope that I can keep thinking this way forever. I want to be healthy for the rest of my life. -

Welcome to our club! I love to hear you have been reading. That's how you will learn the most! Most people are very supportive. My advise would be to start drinking water like crazy! Stop drinking all caffeine today. You didn't say how large you are but, i started losing weight as soon as I went to the seminar. I feel that it set my mind up for all the changes that were coming, plus I started to feel soooo much better about me! Start logging the food you eat everyday. Many of us use fitnesspal.com, it is easy and will help you see what you eat. I am trying so many different foods now, I always liked them but was too lazy to cook differently! keep posting and ask lots of questions! -

I think you will pass lots of good fundamental ideas to them. everyone needs something to hold onto in the beginning. once they become more confident they will mold to their style. -
I applaud your bravery, good luck! we will support you. keep posting.

Pre Op Diet Help!
readytogoforit replied to luvbug0712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the store employee was probably talking about the artificial ingredients; sugar substitutes, colors etc. I am very careful what I buy but that is because I go to a nutrition store where I trust the people I speak to. they have given me info which I check out myself either on the internet or a trusted professional. I would just caution you about the sugars they use. also whey Protein is the best source of good protein for you. since you will be eating so little for the next month - month and a half, try to get the best products you can for yourself. Target and Walmart do not carry them. this is my opinion. -
Good news, let the new you begin. I see you have already started eating differently! Keep us informed and ask, ask, ask we love to help the "newbies"!

seems like something we should all do! No getting complacent for you! That is really a nice compliment. -

this is really a worrisome post. you are about 15 lbs underweight. it is so common for a compulsive person to switch compulsions. I am a recovering alcoholic/drug user. I switched to food once I stopped using alcohol. this is soooo common. I think you have posted because you know this is not only about an unfill. please go to a shrink and work this out with a person you trust. you want to be healthy, both mentally and physically. I would like to pray for you if you don't mind.
