  1. I have been "thinking" that I am hungry a lot lately. I am ignoring it for as long as I can. I mean to say I know I am not hungry because I ate a good protein meal recently. As I said I am ignoring it and drinking more water. The feeling usually goes away. I need to be in control of this eating thing, not my confused brain! my band isn't going to stop me eating if I am not actively involved in the food plan. I have been trying to get my protein numbers higher so I try to find food that will help that end, no junk.

    Vitamins & Calcium

I take a liquid calcium by Country Life. It has a slight blueberry taste, a little chalky. The people at the Co op I buy it from reminded me to only take 500 mg at a time, it's all the body can assimilate at a time, I take a half capful 3X daily.

Stevia, I am presently using True Via. I have used the Trader Joe's brand also, tasted good. some brands seem to have an unpleasant after taste, bitter.

The Voicemail That Changed My Life

your story is one the people "on the fence" should read. our health issues were so scary! I made my decision under similar circumstances, agreed best day of our lives! I want to be a healthy grandma who lives to a ripe old age! maybe now I can be the person.

    I Need Some Encouragement

the only thing I would comment on is the carb intake and no potato chips. remember that saturated fats are the enemy! get used to checking out all ingredients of the foods you eat. are you logging the food you eat? many of us use an online food logging system; myfitnesspal.com & sparkpeople.com. these sites will help you see how many calories, fat and protein you eat each day. do you read many of the posts on this forum? start doing that, you will learn a lot about how this can work to help you. the weight you have lost thus far is great! keep learning.

Sleep Apnea Mask For 3 Months :(

phatkatblue did you go back to the sleep doc after your surgery to see if apnea is gone? I just had another study done and they found that I still need the CPAP. They adjusted the pressure for me, all is good again. The sleep apnea affects thin people too, you know. I have a friend who has always been thin (100- 115 lbs. ) and she always uses her machine! This is a dangerous illness that needs to be confirmed by a doc, not us.

    Spicy Hot

judych yes, I had the hernia. It was the reason I was supposed to have surgery in the first place. yes, I had L O T S of reflux, it was scary! I have none now, the biggest change I made was cutting caffeine out of my life for the most part. I used to drink an enormous amount of coffee. I still miss it a whole bunch but I never want reflux again so I work hard to stay away from coffee. ( I just had cayenne in an omelet I ate, no reaction at all. I am very grateful!

    Vitamin Quantity?

check with your doc, I too take a multi and Calcium citrate ( 500 X3). I have never been good about taking Vitamins for any length of time but I do now. I also spend the money to get the best I can afford - no gummy vitamins. Because we eat so differently now, we need the best!

    Another Newbie

Welcome to our world! we all understand how it seems to take forever to get to surgery day but, everything works as it should. keep reading other posts on this site. you will learn so much and will feel soooo much more ready for surgery. are you dieting (sorry, I don't use that word!) now. are you exercising. have you started drinking lots of water. anything you can do now will be so helpful. a kickstart of weight loss will make you feel so good. I am hoping your docs have already told you, the gastric band is not a miracle! we work hard to lose and keep fat off. this is not a diet or short lived program, you need to see it as a new lifestyle. for me that is such a good thing, hope it will be for you too!

Sleep Apnea Mask For 3 Months :(

you already knew you had sleep apnea, did you have a CPAP ? this is a dangerous condition where you stop breathing. if they need you to do this, why wouldn't you want to take care of your health? I understand the anxiety about waiting for surgery but, you can start changing your eating habits, eat less, start exercising now. get a head start on your "new life". this is such a small detour.

    First Meal

isn't that funny!! I felt the same way, how can mush taste good!? I add salsa to many of my foods now too, never used to, should have! you will find that being more creative with your food choices and the spices you use will help keep you on track. hope you will enjoy the new life coming to you! I often buy a turkey breast to roast, I use low sodium broth to baste it - soooooo yummy! it is inexpensive and great for my daily Protein numbers. I also have omelettes using one egg plus one egg white. I am lactose intolerant so I can't add cheese anymore but have started adding chopped fresh spinach, onions & garlic for a dyno meal. Salsa is a good addition to it too.

  21. yes, I did experience pain. it helped when I walked. I walked as much as I could, in the house, out of the house, walk, walk, walk! I was careful when I got out of bed and turned over in bed. the nurse worked with me and my roommie so we didn't rip anything. I still get out of bed the same way, roll over to the side and lift up with my arm.

    Endoscopy In The Morning

I do not have trouble after them. they are not fun but, you are drugged and don't feel anything. I had one in the hospital and ate a light meal afterwards. they give the doc such a good picture of what problems we have, I would do them anytime! I have had ulcers and a hernia and with that test they decided I needed a repair along with the gastric band placement. no big deal.

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

i try to weigh each Tues at the club where I work out. I am working hard at not making the numbers the only goal. I have changed the way I eat so much since August, I really feel good about that. I am happy with the weight loss and inches too. I do not want to get compulsive, this has been a pattern of mine.
