How To Bring Lap Up To My Doctor?

I started with my insurance, called to make sure it was covered. they sent paper work detailing everything I would have to do. this made the process so much easier and left no confusion for me. then I signed up for a seminar at the hospital, more paperwork given with much more info! I am very happy I got so much information, by the time I had surgery I felt like I had most questions answered! I started shadowing this site in Sept. I read & read. Learned a lot from the people who had already had the surgery.

    Addicted To Sweets! Help!

Sugar is such a horrible problem. It takes several weeks to break the habit. try not to look past an hour at a time, then make it grow to a day, to a week, to a month. we sabotage ourselves by looking too far ahead. I had fought this battle so many times but I am not ready to give in to it. check out this link, maybe it will help. http://www.firstourselves.org/10-steps-to-control-sugar-cravings/

    Almost Two Weeks From Banded

ring story is great, you'll have to get it resized when you are at goal weight! be careful with cookies, carbs make us want more carbs!!
  8. I didn't weigh myself in the beginning. I was eating so little I didn't worry about it. My 1st doc appt. was 10 days and I had lost 5 lbs. I was thrilled! I had terrible shoulder pain too! I didn't think it would ever go away. I used a heating pad and GasX. Walking also made a big difference. I applaud you for such a long walk, it is such a great way to start exercising. I think it is the nicest part of my new life! I have dogs and they are surely loving it. Keep doing what the docs tell you, the changes will be coming soon!

    Starting My Journey!

I am with stephyander! the more you know about what to expect the better. I don't like to have just a little information. you can learn a lot here and ask any question that might come up while you wait for your surgery.
  10. OMG the salmon with salsa sounds soooo good !!! Can't wait to try that. I have been roasting a turkey breast every week. I baste with lo sod. chic broth. this week I wrapped it in foil for the 1st hour ( with carrots, onion and celery) it is so moist and tasty. I like to warm some with veggies, cold on a salad. I have not been bored by the taste of this meat! I love Fage yogurt too; mixed with applesauce or fresh fruit. love how much Protein I get! I have started eating sardines. I eat them on wheat thins flatbread (2 of them) great protein and good fat! I have been eating a lot of spinach lately. I love it raw in salad, steamed with protein. I just love it and by it by the lb! This is a great topic. Always looking for some new food ideas!

    What Is A Hernia?

In Latin the word Hernia means "a rupture". When tissue protrudes through a structure, or a part of an organ through the muscle tissue or the membrane, that is a hernia.

    Question Number 2

I would not do sit ups! you don't have to explain what surgery you had, just that you had surgery and doc says "not yet".

    Not Doing Good

You are on this forum telling us about what you deem to be failure. that is so honest, I think you want to get going again. in this new life we have to be honest to have success, start again, you can do it! It is hard to stay focused on ourselves but, we must do it. We are the only one who can do it, we are worth it! I think the honesty of so many people is what I like the best here! We have all tried and tried again - for years!!! I do not want to be the grandma who can't play with the kids. I want to be healthy, both physically and mentally. We will keep going - one day at a time. Sometimes one minute at a time! You go girl, you can do it!

    Clean Eating And Lap Band

I have tried to do that as much as I can. I have read about the sugar subs in relation to belly fat. It makes so much sense, why would we put "fake" sugar in our body? Garbage in garbage out, really pretty simple. I use a great brand of liquid vitamins and spend more, but I am worth it!
  17. I used the gas x and walked a lot. it really was horrible but it too will pass.

  21. No the band is not a cure all. You have to make a commitment to eat well and exercise also helps. most of us started with walking and move on to more. I have stopped eating the "bad" carbs again and feel so much better. no the band does not stop my brain, I get "head hunger" quite often. My doc told me to stop a minute and think am I hungry enough that yogurt or a veggie would help One of the foods that helps me eat correctly is turkey. I try to roast one as often as possible. luckily my husband hasn't gotten tired of it yet. I roast it with low sodium chicken broth, no butter or fat. it is so good and saves me when I have no plan for a meal. it makes the daily Protein total stay high. I find that high protein low carb ( no potatoes, rice, pasta) works best for me. I eat veggies after I eat the protein. I love yogurt and try to have some each day. I love the greek yogurt (plain, 0% fat) sometimes I add fruit or stevia. Every time I eat I want protein to be one of the items. Be sure to drink lots of Water and non caffeine drinks. I had an ulcer so I try to limit decaf coffee, I now drink tea.

    So Surprised!

Congrats to you, I remember how long I wore clothes that were way to big. It's hard to believe our bodies have changed!! instead of giving to the Salvation Army, check your area for places that give the clothes free. there are sooo many woman who cannot afford the prices at Goodwill or Salvation Army. I googled free clothing give away and found a place in town, sponsored and volunteer run by a suburban church.
