Does Anyone Else Feel This Way??
readytogoforit replied to NurseDana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have to remind myself what is real truth is. yes, I ate things that I thought tasted good BUT I couldn't walk without getting winded, I looked like a slob & my self esteem was in the bottom of a potato chips bag. I do not think the food that I thought was sooooo good is a fair tradeoff for how well I feel now! I never want to go back, it is an illusion that we are missing something. Think more clearly! -

I occasionally add some beets because they are so good nutritionally. But they are so strong. For me the key is to add very little. Not one of my favs. I have had ulcers for many years. I read that cabbage (any cabbage family veggies) help to heal an ulcers & diverticulitis. My friend Marilou just found out that drinking the juices has healed her ulcer! I also add ginger - sparingly!! It also has great healing properties. I have purchased a book by "the juiceman", lots of recipes and information. I am really excited about doing this!

are you talking about a body wrap to detox, one done by a massage therapist? I am having a wrap next week with herbs to detoxify. I am kind of excited to see what this is going to do. What Happens During A Body Wrap? Often a body wrap begins with exfoliation through dry brushing or a salt scrub. You lie down on whatever you will eventually be wrapped in – often plastic or mylar, but sometimes towels or sheets. I think it’s best when a massage therapist does the body wrap, because they naturally incorporate massage techniques as they apply the product. An esthetician, on the other hand, is not trained in massage. She is simply applying product to the skin. Or are you talking about the kind of cleansing we do when we have a medical procedure? The Doctors just answered that question on the show yesterday. They said it is a bad idea because along with cleaning out the junk you also flush away the necessary "flora" that lives in your intestines.

I was thinking about her yesterday. wondering why I had not seen any posts from her. thank you for letting us know this so very sad news. She was very nice and very supportive especially to new people. Praying for peace for the family. She was definitely appreciated on this forum.

change you settings on Fitnesspal.com to the calories you want. I added fiber now, just to see how much i get each day. I agree don't starve yourself. 1200- 1400 is about right. I don't always eat that much but that is the goal. my problem comes from carbs. I like to keep them low and that is hard to do! many people don't even keep track of how much they eat! I could not do that, i measure and weigh everything. Maybe that will change when I get to goal.

If you eat correctly you will not have to worry about hair loss. I agree with the others, remember to eat Protein. think protein all the time, eat it first. you will not have any trouble. do you log your food each day. you must do that, lots of us use fitnesspal.com works great and you can adjust it to the calorie intake you are doing. drink lots of Water. 8 glasses each day is important. have you started an exercise program yet. walking is a good start. I go to Curves and love it. I am sure this all seems like so much to you right now. It will all become second nature to think in the key points Water, protein & exercise. Congrats to you for make this wonderful life style change! Smiles will abound!!! -
5 Months In And Feeling Discouraged
readytogoforit replied to losingoncemorewithsurgery's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
first of all congrats on 62 lbs!! that is a great number. I agree 1cc is not much, a fill will help. I have only had one fill (5cc) and felt no restriction either. I always felt like I was white knuckling it( dieting). I just had another fill and feel much better. I have lost my weight rather slowly. I go through times when I feel this is too much work for so little loss (about a lb a week). The truth is if we were not banders, how much would we weigh and how would we feel about ourselves??? I never want to go back to being heavy, I don't want to be out of breath when I walk, I don't want my legs, knees & back to hurt. I don't want to look in the mirror and see a round woman. Go out for a walk, go try on some new clothes (don't have to buy them!) Don't forget who you used to be, she is gone. Hopefully she will never return!! Try some new foods, I am enjoying spinach like I have never enjoyed it before. I bought some edamame salad @ Whole Foods this weekend, so healthy, + good Protein. Do you go to a gym? I go to Curves and that really brightens my day. I am happy you asked for help, you are worth helping! -
I know what you mean! for a long time, I didn't try smaller pants on. I was afraid of being disappointed!! Now I love to see how long b4 I get to the next smaller size!! what a kick... I think jeans are the fun way to get a smile for the day!

Hi, New To The Group
readytogoforit replied to lucy2.0's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on starting the process - I recommend you read as much as you can on this forum. Most of my questions were answered. Ask lots of questions. read as much as you can too, the web is filled with info. Once you go to a seminar you will get more information too. I don't understand what your husband is worried about? what recovery? this is a positive life change, most of us never exercised, ate whatever we wanted, had numerous medical issues, on & on.... Life will start to become easier, the sun shines more now, I am taller(in spirit), I love life again. I cannot think of any negatives. I did this for better health, looking better came along with it! Don't feel like you need to hurry the process, I had to have many doctor appt checked for my insurance. It won't happen immediately, most people have a six month time frame in which to "get everything together". try to start making changes now; start walking, log what you eat, drink lots of Water. -

Crying During Preop Diet...anyone?
readytogoforit replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to compare this to another time in my life where I had to make a big change. I did cry then, I had such a hard time coming to terms with the fact- not drinking alcohol ever again. As time went on I stopped looking at my whole life but one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. this is a big change you are making. it is a change that you are making, not your family. Everyone eats and you will be smelling food forever more! start to think about the changes you are going to experience once your body changes. It will be a bigger high than the smells of the family breakfast, really it will be much better!! I try not to think only of weight loss. I have experienced a great loss of inches since I started this life. I also can exercise & walk so well now. I don't get winded, I don't feel the same aches and pains. Is all of this worth it?? -

Welcome! I have learned so much by reading & reading & more reading on the forum! I agree with Zinhaa; we are all different. Try not to compare your weight loss with everyone else's. We are all working on the same goal - Good Health!! -
please take this part of the process seriously. it might seem trivial today but it's all important. One step at a time......walk them all.
