    too tight!

I was banded a yr ago and was unable to eat for a few weeks I thought it was me and I wasn't eating right. Then I was unable to have liquids I became dehydrated so sick I couldn't move. I rushed to the er where my dr does the surgeries. He emptied my band completely I drank water to flush my stomach he said there was a possibility of food being stuck being that I already did that nasty esphogram and it looked normal. He filled my band back up but left me at 6.5cc instead of the 7 5cc I was and I feel great and I'm eating with out it coming back up. Has this happened to anyone else?? I'm a little upset because I've gained 6 pound's in 5 days!!

    This is REAL!

I don't see why I would bother you I personally don't eat spicy but I've heard as long as the food isn't dry and there's some type of sauce you should be fine!

    Failing at this!

I lost 10 pounds in the first week after being banded once I got the ok to eat I ate like I never had the surgery there was no restriction but I had to wait 6 weeks for my first fill I gained 5 pounds by then I felt ashamed I had 3 fills after that still was eating the same no weight loss I finally talked to my dr he assured ne it was no normal to be like that until I had the proper restriction! My 5th fill did the trick I'm banded at 7.5cc and dropped down 84 pounds I'm going to get it loosened tomorrow bc now its too tight and I can't eat or drink anything! Any issues you have make sure you talk to your dr. That's what he's there for!

    This is REAL!

I was banded a year ago and has been eating out since I usually order something soft like potatoes or eggplant or meatballs! But I'm surprised they still did the surgery that could of put you at risk for infection!

    Do You Love Your Band?

I love it too... I was reluctant at first I regreted it bc I was not losing any weight. I was very uneducated, but after sitting with my Dr for an hour. Learning things that I should b doing after just 5 days since my last fill I am already down 5 lbs the band is my new best friend!!! I have the same problem running to the bathroom if I get sick but I think is worth it to b skinny!!!!

    So Discouraged!!!

I had my surgey April 11, 2012 I lost 10 lbs my first week after I saw my dr I was given the ok to start to eating normal food again, I have been on a downward sprial ever since. I gained 5 lbs back went for my first fill on May 31, 2012 had 2cc put in had some restrictions but I quickly learned to chew my food good and eat slow and by doing this I am able to eat pretty much anything. I had a 2nd fill June 30, 2012 I now have 6cc in my band and still have not lost a pound. Since I started the process from my first dr. visit to now I am down a total of 15 pounds but only 6 pounds since my surgery. Eveytime I see the weight I the scale I get more disgusted and I keep eating the things that I should not just because I feel like theres no hope and it is not going to work. Right now I feel as though the lapband has failed and I should of went with the gastric bypass as I would have better results. Has this happeneds to anyone else??

    So Discouraged!!!

I want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support I really needed it this has really been an eye opener!! While I have not done exercising yet I've been finding myself fighting with my self to make better choices. I feel like a crazy person talking to myself, everytime I want something bad I find myself saying no don't do it I take a deep breathe walk away or grab something healthy. Although its not much I'm happy to report a 1.5lb weight loss and that's just the push I needed to keep going through this long journey!!! If I can make a change anyone can we just have to push ourselves no matter how hard it seems.

    So Discouraged!!!

I deff. see where your coming from that is my problem because I am able to get anything down I just eat, I dont want to I try to keep myself from eating bad that only last for so long. I feel like I just lost control of my body and I am trying to get it back. With my life so busy and having a 2 year old I'm always eating on the go just popping whatever i can find in my mouth just to eat something.

    So Discouraged!!!

Thank you everyone for your advice, the mistake I made was thinking once I get this done I wont be able to eat the pasta and bread anymore because it wouldnt go down. So i figured I wouldnt have to really worry about it to much because the band will help to teach me to diet because I would not be able to get the food down that I shouldn't be eating. I have not even attempted to exercise yet, I have really fallen into this lazy I dont want to do anything mode that I am trying to get out of. I am joining the gym my next payday and Im hoping that will help me jump start this diet and knock this weight off.

    5 Days After Surgery

I had my lapband procedure on April 11, 2012, I have to say was not expecting to feel that much pain when I woke up in recovery that I actually needed morphine. Since that day I really have feelings of regret is this really worth the pain, soreness, and unability to pick up my 2 year old. But it is done and I am already down 6 pounds which is kind of the brighter side to feeling regret of this decision. While I know it will all be worth it in the end I just seems like such a long haul right now. I have been handling this liquid diet pretty good but now I am just starving and I want to eat everything in sight. Im so sick of crystal light, jello, ices, and broth. Does anyone have any suggestions on mixing this diet up to get me through my last few days?? I know the proper thing to do is follow this diet, I am really scared to go off and eat something I am not supposed to but I dont know how to handle it anymore. Right now im at the point where I put food in my mouth just to taste it I chew it up and spit it ( I know its nasty but it satisfys the taste). My family sits down for dinner and Im italian the typical sunday dinner spread was put out, and Im smelling this food seeing I wanted to rip out this damn band and eat everything in sight lol!!!!

    new member

I am new to this site I officially decided to get the surgery done in august I had my first appointment on september 8 and I had to begin my 3 month diet before the surgery I am having a hard time finding a support group in my area. I have a very supportive family they all think this is a great thing for me to do. Except my fiance is completely against it, he thinks it is to risky and that I should just do it the old fashion way. He built and has been skinny his whole life so he doesnt understand what it is like to be heavy and not be succesful and diet and exercising. I just hope once I go through with the surgery he will be happy with the reslults and he will get past this cuz this is something that I need to do for my own health.
