  1. Please add me to the FB September sleevers group. Ang.student@gmail.com Many thanks!
  2. AGREED! I find that to be very true. I could not tell if my stomach was growling or if it was after surgery stuff. After a few sips of water, whatever that was went away.

    First Post-op Post

I didn't really have gas pain either, but I did experience difficulty waking up. In fact I am now four days post-op and I can still feel the side effects of the anesthesia. I have dry mouth, nausea, itching, random dizziness, and blurry vision. I hope it clears up pretty soon. What I don't have is hunger to any extent. I smell food and don't have a desire to eat anything, obviously that may change in time. I am able to drink two Protein shakes a day, followed by Water throughout the day. I have been walking, as long as the weather permits. It is amazing how much better I felt the day after surgery.

    September 9th for me!

Hello! My surgery went very well. Discomfort on the 9th was really high, but on the 10th I felt so much better. Minimal pain meds so far!
  5. Me too! Super excited! Good luck to all!

    September 9th for me!

Just a few more days!! Super excited!
  8. Just a few more days 'til my surgery...is it normal not to be stressing? I am at peace with this decision and feel completely ready. I have no concerns or reservations. Was anyone else like this? -angie
  9. You are so lucky to be going to Banner. I live in Scottsdale and my insurance requires me to go to St. Lukes. I really don't care for it.
  10. My pre-op is strictly limited to protein shakes and water. It's tough! I drink Premier Protein which I don't mind the taste of. Angie
  11. I am having the sleeve procedure on Sept 9th and I have to say I am super excited. While I am aware that complications can happen, I am not the slightest bit nervous. I am ready. Is anyone else experiencing the same feelings? Maybe I will be Newhouse when I check in... Thanks Angie

    September 9th for me!

Hi all! I am Sept 9th as well. I am so ready! Good luck to all. Angie
  13. Hello all! My surgery is going to be either at the end of August or early September, but since having my band removed...I'm starving! My bariatric surgeon won't prescribe an appetite suppressant and I'm slowing gaining weight. I am finally healed enough to begin going back to the gym, which is fantastic. Does anyone have any experience with appetite suppressants? I really don't like the feeling of hunger. My surgeon said gaining weight is to be expected, but I am going to have to buy larger pants if I don't stop eating. Sigh... Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

    Appetite Suppressants

No Worries! Thank you for the sentiment though...trust me, if it was head hunger I wouldn't mind so much. I can usually occupy myself with a diversion. But when my full size, healthy stomach growls in the middle of a meeting it's so embarrassing. I think I am going to try eating something small about every three hours. Have a fantastic day!

    Appetite Suppressants

Fixerupper! That is fantastic news! Thank you for the encouragement. I am going to ask my doc for a low dosage...I only need two months worth. Maybe I'll visit GNC and see what they have or maybe I'll just try to do my best on my own. The important thing is what I am eating when I'm hungry. My doc said no pre-op diet, but I really want my surgery to be flawless and free of any complications so I'll implement the pre-op diet on my own. Thanks again and congrats! Ang

    Appetite Suppressants

Very helpful indeed. I have been using raw veggies as a filler and if I have a craving for something sweet I grab a Greek yogurt or sugar free Jello. At dinner I do my best to ear more Protein than anything. I guess since I didn't have that hungry feeling for three years, it strikes panic. Imagine my surprise when I heard my stomach growl. So weird. Thanks to all who responded...September cannot come soon enough!

    curious how people are eating...

Zaine20 - I think anyone who has had the lapband removed would struggle; I know I am. I know you'll emerge victorious! I can't believe that I am not sick anymore..or don't drown in my sleep if I drink water after 5pm. What I don't like is feeling hungry...I didn't miss that. I have about 60 pounds to lose and I'm ready to begin. As soon I am completely healed from the band removal, I am joining my gym again. I tried to workout today, but found out I couldn't when I hurt myself doing a spin kick. Sigh. I am ready to be a slave to the elipitcal machine again; I miss it, even if it is 150 degrees here in Scottsdale.
  19. Hello! I am just wondering how people are eating if they have had their band removed and waiting 90 days for the sleeve procedure. I don't want to go back to unhealthy eating, because I know the 2 week pre-op fast will arrive soon. I've already become accustomed to not really eating solids. Yesterday and today were the first days I actually ate a meal; I am one week post op. I know 90 days will go by fast, but will it be fast enough? Thanks in advance! Very curious as to the replies.

    curious how people are eating...

Hi NurseGrace, You're on the right track now and I bet you look fantastic! I'm doing my best. A week and a half after surgery I started drinking three Protein drinks a day and one meal at night. I'm doing my best, but it's such a relief to not get sick when eating something. Oh and I can drink Water at night before laying down and not drowned in my sleep. In fact, my stomach actually growled for the first time in three years. GROWLED. I couldn't believe it. Thanks to all who responded. just 9 weeks to go... Angie

Thank you, K8ee! How was your diet during the waiting period?

    curious how people are eating...

Well my surgery wasn't an anomaly, I assure you. It's strictly at the surgeon's discretion and the condition and health of the stomach. My band was in for three years and it misshaped the stomach; it actually slipped at about 2 years. Trust me, if I had the choice I would have done one procedure. Surgeon's generally wait about 90 days to perform the sleeve operation, which allows the stomach time to regain it's original form.

Thank you, Rebecca! I wasn't sure how to word what I wanted to ask. I am struggling mentally right now. I am still swollen from surgery and thinking everyone is starring at me thinking that I failed. Which is really funny because normally I don't care what anyone thinks of me or my choice to have weight loss surgery. I guess I will just keep moving forward and try to remember that there will be a happy ending.
