I have been overweight my entire life. I always thought about weight loss surgery but never seriously looked into it until my close friend told me about it. She was going through the approval process at the time. I decided to talk to my doctor about it, who later referred me to Dr. Glatt. My initial visit with the surgeon went fine, he told me that I needed to lose some weight before surgery. I didn't show much motivation at that time. When I went for my pre-op appointment I was 2 lbs up(389 lbs). He wasn't very happy, and told me that I basically had two weeks to lose 20 lbs. He set me up an appt. to come weigh-in six days later, which was one week before my original surgery date. I did some serious diet and exercise! He told me that if I weighed in 10 lbs lower, he would keep the surgery date. I weighed in 11 lbs down(378 lbs.)! I was all set for surgery, then had some insurance issues so surgery was postponed from August to September 13, 2011. When I went in on the 13th I was around 375lbs. I was very nervous, but relaxed once I recognized my anesthesiologist from son's birth. The surgery went very fast, I only remember walking into the OR and then waking up in recovery. I was moved to a room and made sure I walked every chance I got (I learned that from a c-section). My surgery was at 8 am and I was released by 7pm the same day. My recovery went very well. I am now 8 days post-op.
