i look forward to someday not having to go to a doctor's office and have everything blamed on the fact that i am overweight. that is what my goal is for this surgery, not to fit into skinny jeans (even though that would be nice also). so many health issued that came along over the years that were blamed on weight. ughhh. well thank you so much arnetta for your response. <BR>

WOW, i swear that i could have typed every word myself. you got me at the walking over to a chair slowly to see if it was wide enough for me to sit in. we all go through the same things everyday. maybe if we learned to love ourselves as much as we should, life as an overweight person wouldn't have to be so depressing. well, i wish you nothing but the best and i hope you have much much success. keep us posted.

yay!!! last scheduled test tomorrow pre op
roeroe posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have my last procedure scheduled for tomorrow. i am having my upper endoscopy. i already received clearance from primary doctor (letter of consent and weight history); cardio doctor; pulmonologist; psychologist and this is my last schedule test. I have two more dietician appointments to go. I hope everything goes well tomorrow and i have to wait until october 14th for my appointment with him to go over the results of the test. i don't know about you guys, but i just can't wait until surgery. i am scheduled for december 1st and i hope that we can keep that date. i am so anxious about the surgery. i wish it would just come tomorrow. can't wait to meet the skinny Roe inside RoeRoe. lol. Do the last two months of playing the waiting game drive you crazy or does it go fast? I have horizon blue cross blue shield federal. does anyone have that insurance? when will i know that they approved me? will i receive word from the surgeon or will i receive a letter from insurance? this forum is a godsend. thank you. can't wait to see the post for December Bandsters. i will know that I am close when i can join that. thank you for your support. it means the world -
Did you or are you going to do anything special for your "Last Supper" so to speak?
roeroe replied to Nicole0425's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my surgery is set for december 1st which means that my first liquid diet day is november 17th. I was told that since my BMI is 46.5 i will have to do the liquid diet for two weeks. WELL my birthday is november 17th so it is safe to assume that i am starting that lovely liquid diet on November 18th. lol. HAVE to go to Carmines in A/C for my birthday dinner and of course have a canoli while I am there. what is one more celebration before the surgery? lol. good luck to you and much success. -
did you check your temperature to make sure you do not have a fever? cold and shivery could be an indication of a fever and a fever could mean an infection. make sure you check that. hope you feel better and good luck

i had my appointment with the pulmonologist yesterday and without asking me any questions or looking at my chart, she said that she automatically sends her lap band patients for a sleep study. i told her that i do not feel that i need one, i do not snore, moan, have trouble breating at night, wake up tired, smoke or any other risk factors that i see on all the sleep apnea sites. my husband of 18 years said that he has never witnessed me waking up to catch my breathe. my question is, if i am healthy enough to undergo an upper endoscopy next week with anethesia why do i need a sleep study for an hour long lap band procedure? what if i did have apnea, my endoscopy is scheduled before any lung or sleep test is scheduled. my insurance said that depending how the doctor bills the sleep study, i can be responsible fr 25% of the cost. that is unreal. i have decided to go with another doctor that feels that i am not a risk factor for apnea, my neck measures 15 inches and he checked my airway and found i have a large airway so he is not sending me for a sleep study and will only have a chest xray. why do doctors put you through tests that are not necessary.

i am excited for you. i am pre surgery but still at the stage where i am going for my doctor visits. i guess take it one day at a time and think of the light at the end of the tunnel; a healthy-thinner you. do you have to do one week or two? i have to do two. i also love food. i eat even when I am full. not sure how that is going to be controlled after the lap band. when is your surgery set for?

why do i need a sleep study
roeroe replied to roeroe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that is great. nice way to start the new year. I was put on the surgeon's schedule for December 1st on our first visit. she said that day can change if i didn't get all of my doctor approvals. but it looks like that day should be a go as i am just waiting for one more. I can't wait. i am so excited. I hope i have success. i think that i watch a few too many you tube videos because i stumbled upon a few people talking about loose skin and now i am worried about that. i think i am going to stick to this forum that i just started to blog and stay away from any negative videos on you tube. i was told that since my bmi is higher i have to do a two week pre op liquid diet, there goes my thanksgiving. but i will give up thanksgiving for a skinny bod. did you have an upper endoscopy? was it easy? -

for me, the next step is having my upper endoscopy next wednesday and then i have two more dietician appointments and as long as the gastro gives me clearance after the endoscopy then i hope i am all set with the insurance. wondering if i might be able to move my surgery up. did you receive clearance from any doctors yet? Roeroe, what's your next step in the process? -
AAAAPPPPPPPRRRRROOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEDDDD!!!!!
roeroe commented on Sarah8807's blog entry in Sarah8807's Blog
congratulations!!! does that mean that after all the precertifications with the cardio, pulmonery, gastro etc., doctors, someone can still be turned down? why don't they get the approval before all the tests? well, at least you are on your way. best of luck to you and wising you a successful outcome. -
i had to do that as well, luckily my primary was able to supple the letter of support and weight chart for the past 7 years to my surgeon. when we sign up for lap band, we never thought about all the co-pays and all the doctors we will be visiting before the actual surgery. i am sure it will all be worth it in the end. good luck with your journey

why do i need a sleep study
roeroe replied to roeroe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with your results. i hope you slept like a baby last night and that you get the go ahead for the lap band. We are at the mercy of the doctors for them to give us the approval for surgery. i have my physicologist, cardia and primary doctor's approval so far. Good luck with your journey -

why do i need a sleep study
roeroe replied to roeroe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the new pulmonologist measured my neck and looked at my airway to see if it was narrow and the results were all normal so no sleep study is needed. i just wanted the first doctor to at least take into consideration that i did not have any of the warning signs and not incur an expensive test that was not necessary. good thing i went for a second opinion. -
