anyone have any ideas for us December bandsters, as far as an exercise goal or walking goal. starting tomorrow November 8th can we pledge to walk a total of 3 miles a week or work out for a total of an hour a week. what do you think and how can we get the word out to all december bandsters. i wish we all lived in the same town so we could walk together.

i am so sorry for all of you and i hope that your situation gets fixed and without any troubles in the future. my question is did your surgeon suture the band to your stomach on your originally surgery? my surgeon says he does that so the band will not slip. wondering if it still can slip even after suturing it in place. thank you and good luck.

texas bandit; i am so sorry that you had to go back to the hospital for this. good thing you realized it was serious and got it taken care off. hope you on the mend and feeling better soon. make sure you drink your water to flush that infection out of your system. are you on antibiotics?

i am sorry, read it too fast. that is fantastic that you are spending your pre pre surgery dieting. i should be more like you and do that. my friends at work are sort of bringing in things that they know i like, flan and rice pudding, and of course i am eating them. i think next week i will ask them not to do that, because i am going to gain weight in the last three weeks presurgery instead of beining disciplined like you and losing. good job and keep up the good work.

how do you get that neat weight loss chart
roeroe replied to lrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when you click on the ticker it will open up the original ticker that you made on the website and you will see a button to "edit/update weight data" put in your pin that you set up and then you can change your information and save it and copy that new ticker over the older one in your signature, delete the old and keep the new. hope that works for you. -
you will have to do a liquid diet for one to two weeks (depending on your BMI and your surgeon) prior to surgery. i have to do a two week liquid diet starting on November 17th through December 1st, no thanksgiving feast for me ; ( . i asked my husband if he would do it with me and he said no but he promised to do the cooking for those two weeks so i am not feeling too much torture.

How much protein is too much ?
roeroe replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my paperwork says that post surgery, you should aim at 60 to 80 grams per day The typical pre-op diet will include 70 to 120 grams of Protein each day. this is from my paper work also this promotes giving your body energy since you are not eating carbs and also helps the body prepare for healing. -
100+ Positive Reasons to get the Lapband and outcomes
roeroe replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i drive a very small car a saturn that is very low to the ground. when i get out of the car, i have to put my keys, wallet and cell phone in my right hand so i can use my left hand to push myself out of the car. i always wonder what i look like when i get out of this car. i should have someone record this before the surgery so i can see just how i had to overcompensate in life to do the simple things that others take for granted. what i want to be able to do in one year from now is to get out of my small car without having to use any hands, just the stregnth of my own legs. -

Ever Feel Disgusted with yourself?
roeroe replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't mind, may mention this on my facebook account? i know a number of people that would want to donate their candy including me. thank you so much. this is a wonderful idea. -
why does the diet vary so much from surgeon to surgeon. mine is three protein shakes (2 made with skim milk, the other water) one cup of fat free veggies; broth; vegetable juice (not V8 fusion) sugar free apple sauce and pudding. fat free yogurt only plain and vanilla; cream of wheat and plain oatmeal. why can't my surgeon allow me to have a healthy dinner? well, great job on the 2 pounds already that is great. did you take your before pictures? keep up the good work.

i have two weeks to go before i start my liquid diet for two weeks. i have one more dietician appointment next tuesday and i have a list of what i should be eating, but i feel like i better sit down and think about what i will need to buy to get me through the two week liquid diet and the 2 - 4 weeks post surgery, because i know i will not be able to go right out after surgery and shop. so besides sugar free jello; broth; sugar free apple sauce and ice pops; sugar free pudding; skim milk, plenty of high Protein liquid meal supplements and my multi Vitamins, Calcium supplements and gas x, what else will i need to get me through the two week pre surgery diet and two - four week post surgery liquid diet. it is a bit overwhelming. Thank you

Don't forget to take plenty of before pictures even before you start your pre -surgery diet because people have lost a good amount of weight during that period. I am going start taking mine.

Ever Feel Disgusted with yourself?
roeroe replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, i can't stop eating the halloween candy and my last dietician appointment is next tuesday and i do not want to gain any weight. the first two i was the same weight and this one is at 6:00 at night so you always weigh more at night. liquid diet in two weeks and surgery 12/1/11 so if the halloween candy is not done in two weeks, i am throwing it away. lol. hang in there and don't bananas. when do you start your liquid diet? -
thank you so much for the response. we wait and wait for our date and then one day we wake up and say, wait i'm not ready lol. i have to go over the paperwork in my binder. i have been printing things out that i find on this forum and other sites, but i need to go back to the paperwork that i got from the surgeon and make my shopping list. thanks again and thank you for the friend request

i didn't go through my primary care doctor, i called my local hospital and signed up for a seminar on weight loss surgery. that was august 10th and now i am 29 days away from surgery. depending on your insurance, you may not need anything from the primary. i have federal blue cross blue shield and they wanted a letter of support and i then went to my primary and she was on board, but my friend was banded last year and she spoke to her gyno about weight loss and he gave her the letter of support. so wait to see if you insurance requires it, all insurances are different. some want a six month doctor supervised diet, after the seminar, you will meet with the surgeon and they will know what your insurance requires. good luck in this journey, congratuations on making this decision. it is never too late, i am 41 and at the seminar there were people in their 60's and 70's. keep in touch.

we have the exact same birthday and i am exactly 10 years older than you. wow, are you liquid dieting for your birthday? technically i should be but my surgeon gave me permission to have dinner and cake and start the next day through my surgery date 12/1/11

and the Psychiatrist says....
roeroe replied to kewlshort1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that is a good sign that your meds have you on the right track. even though i received clearance from the psycologist, she said that my insurance covered as many sessions as we felt necessary, but we only needed one. maybe if you wanted, you could re-visit him afterwards to talk about the depression history more fully. my daughter laughed and said that i must have cheated on the test and to be honest i did. i told her everything she wanted to hear. perfect childhood, parents got along, love myself. but i got the feeling she really just wanted to make sure that i had a good support system. it is hard to open up to a complete stranger in a half hour session. good luck. when is your surgery? mine is december 1st. liquid diet starting in 2 weeks -
keep on top of that because the lady in the insurance dept of the bariatric surgeon says that blue cross blue shield federal wants the third dietician appointment when most other insurances only want two and they have to be 30 days apart and if you skipped one, you had to start over again with the 1st one. i also had to get a letter of support from the primary care and a 7 year weight history. but i live in new jersey not sure if that changes things. good luck friend.

i had an upper endoscopy with my gastroenterologist but no sleep study, the pulmonologist gave me clearance without it, he said that my airway was not narrow and i did not have thick neck and no snoring issues, so he felt that i was not a candidate for sleep apnea. i think i will need a chest xray and blood work the week before the surgery though
