Hi your doctor should have provided information on what you should have for your pre-op diet. My doctor has me on four bariessential shakes a day which I mix with 1% milk. I can also have a cup of low sodium broth and sugar free jello. Make sure you get enough protein and vitamins from your diet. As for other liquids people have used green tea, decaf coffee, and water but no soda or carbonated beverages. D

Was the Lap Band Your First Choice?
D_1710 replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I considered the sleeve but I decided the lap-band was a better choice for me. The lap-band will require more work by me and maintenance by my doctor but I feel I will have more responsibility for my success and more control over my weight loss. D -
Congrats Heather! Follow you doctors instructions and you should do fine. D

Preop diet starts today

The pre-op liquid diet continues. I've become used to the taste of the powder and I did find some flavorings I can add to it for some variety of taste. I'm not that hungry. One day I did not want the 4th shake. What I hate is what this stuff is doing to my bowels . I'm for sure gonna have a clean liver and GI track when this is done. Also if you're on this diet and think you have gas to release, don't risk it. Go to the toilet asap. I am looking forward to enjoying different liquids after I'm banded. So tired of milk now. D -
Preop diet starts today

I started my two week liquid diet on the 11th and really have not been hungry. I have 4 shakes a day plus 8 oz broth and a couple of sugar free Jello. The challenge is it's a dull diet and I crave for something to bite, even a pickle spear would do . I'll stay on the diet so I'll be ready for surgery on the 25th. One good thing is I've been dropping a pound a day so far. D -

Hi, You look excellent, great work. I'm starting my journey later this month and I'm built similar to how you looked. Would you share the types of exercise you did and if you have any issues with loose skin? Thanks, D -
Too Many Frustrated Lapbanders!

I will be banded on Oct 25th and I believe the lap-band will work if you do your part. You have to make good food choices, do your exercise, and take ownership of the process. You might want to view the videos on youtube.com by a lady called newtoy4kt. She has a wonderful series about her lap-band journey and she includes the victories and the struggles. D -
And so it begins. I had my pre-admission tests at the surgery center this morning. They took blood, urine, and a chest x-ray. I've also started my two week liquid diet now and I am looking forward to surgery on the 25th. My wife took my "before" photos and measurements last night. All of my post op supplies and food are in place and I will continue to exercise to see how much weight I can drop pre-op. I do need to get some slippers D

Hello, I'm excited and looking forward to my October banding. The doctor's office called yesterday and asked if I wanted to move my date up from the 25th to the 13th. I would have loved to move my date but I have a big project at work starting on the the 13th. I'm not too disappointed as it gives me more time to get my pre-op weight down. Made it to the gym four times this week and I feel like my hard work will not be wasted with a yo-yo weight increase a few months down the road. My lap-band will help me prevent back-sliding as my new diet and exercise slim me down. It's kinda funny having goodbye meals with some of my favorite foods. I'll have to skip some favorites because they are too excessive (calories and/or bad nutrition) to support my current diet and exercise goals. D
