So how do you defizz your soda, just let it sit out? I know one of my biggest pleasures before the surgery was a cold pepsi over crushed ice.
-
Ha-Ha, so true!
-
Good advise, that's exactly what he said overdone it and get rest.
-
Thanks for all the advise, it seems that this is quit common. I took joiebeans' advise and called my Doctor. Sure enough he said it looked like I had overdone it and to get some rest. I crack up thinking of all us on our computers being so full of gas. lol but I am glad to say that after a couple days rest I feel alot better. Just need to slow down and take it easy.

I Feel A Stabbing Pain In My Large Incision
AKMama replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having a sharp pain on my left side a couple of days ago so I called my Doctor and he said that I had overdone it. There is a muscle they have to go through to get to your stomach. I was told to slow down and it is feeling alot better nowl. Hopefully you've just done the same and it will get better soon but remember if you have any doubt call your Doctor and ask him. -
I Have A Date--And It's Next Week!
AKMama replied to goldenraisin214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery on the 9th everything went great. I can not say enough good things about the Dr.'s and Staff at Puget Sound Surgical. Have been on my liquid / protein diet and am really looking forward to some applesauce. I have felt really good with minimal discomfort. So far I am down 20lbs and I have ankles I haven't seen those in forever. We're already back home in Alaska and I can't wait to see what the future brings or takes away...If anyone is thinking about having this surgery but is not quite sure, DO IT! You will not regret it. -

AKMama replied to goldenraisin214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is an awesome birthday present for yourself! I'm having my surgery that day as well, flying from Alaska to Seattle. It's so exciting but I can't help but be nervous at the same time. -
GOOD LUCK!!! I fly down to Washington next Monday but my surgery is not till Thursday. Everytime I start thinking about it now I get butterflies. I know though that it will all be good and I can't wait to start the losing process.

Approved For My Gastric Sleeve Surgery But How Much Should I Be Expecting To Pay Out Of Pocket?
AKMama replied to mommy794's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS-Fed and my out of pocket is 5000.00, which I am now trying to find financing for. I believe I am going to try the CareCredit line and see how that goes. It seems to me to be a huge difference between the insurance companies. Good luck it can agravating just trying to figure out a total. I didn't get a number till I was approved for my surgery. -
How much non-surgical shrinkage is possible?
AKMama replied to ouroborous's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi, I see that you had your surgery at Puget Sound Surgical Center. I am having mine there also on the 9th of February. How were they? Are they Friendly? Is there any Hotels near the Center? It's so cool finding someone else who's had their surgery there also. -
OMG!!!! I just got the call that I've been approved for surgery, I'm crying as I type this. I can't believe it, it's really going to happen.

Cant Have Surgery ;'(
AKMama replied to newgrandmother11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just approved last week and on one note I was so excited but after that sank in and I reread the email a couple of times I was bummed to learn that I was going to have to pay 5000.00 which I don't have. I'm looking into getting CareCredit card or borrow against my 401. All I know is I have to have this surgery with my health I can't keep going the way I am, I want to live to see my grandkids. Don't give up!!!! -
And I'm Approved For My Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
AKMama replied to Mel34's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I'm going in on the 9th of February, isn't it nice to finally be done with the waiting and now on to the losing!!!! -
Thank you all! I hope everyone had a Happy New Year!!!!!
-
I just got my surgery date, February 9th!!! O.K. now I'm really nervous but excited.
-
Thank you, I am so excited. It seems like forever that I've been going to the Dr. and getting all the paperwork in order. After awhile it feels like it's never going to happen. Now on to the next Chapter.....
-
So I have completed about all of the required paperwork and actions that the insurance is asking for. So I have been told that if everything goes well I should have a Feb. surgery date, but now I keep thinking what if I do this and I lose all my weight but now I have all this extra skin. I know I have to exercise and I have started walking and trying to do somethings to get ready but I'm a big girl and need to lose at least 130 lbs. how do you firm up that much loose skin? Part of me is so excited to have the surgery and to have more energy and be able to see my feet without leaning forward and to be able to go on a bike ride with my daughter. Then the other part of me says your going to look funny with all the extra skin flopping about you might as well not worry about the surgery, has anyone else had these thoughts? I know it sounds petty but I have seen some great results and I have seen some were the person looked so much older and unhealthy after the surgery. I don't want to go from being embarressed about my weight to being embarressed about having a size 10 body with a size 20 shell.
-
Thanks for all the positive feedback and you are all right. I know I am going to be so much healthier and feel better about myself. I need to concentrate on eating right and starting an exercise routine as soon as I can. Now if I only liked to exercise... My main area that I'm concerned about is my tummy and my arms. I already have a roll on my stomache so I just keep thinking the worst. I am going to try and quit thinking about and be positive about how good I'm going to feel once the weight starts coming off! So... Has anyone tried the compression garments? Do they help in getting rid of any excess skin or do they just hold everything in?

One Thing I Can't Wait To Do...
AKMama replied to dom1985's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree it'll be nice to not feel like I have to avoid the camera. My daughter is just wanting her and I to be able to go for a bike ride together. I think my thing though will be to be able to walk up a flight of stairs and not have to stop to catch my breath or to be able to go on a walk with a friend an be able to carry on a conversation without sounding like I'm gonna pass out. If I start thinking about it there are so many things that I am looking foward to, I can't wait to have my surgery. ...but shopping that is gonna a blast!!!! -

My kaiser Dr. wouldn't refer me for surgery.
AKMama replied to swedishfish1020's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Dr. was kind of like that. I have a BMI of around 41 and decided that I was ready for the surgery. When I told her she was like oh well good luck with that. She was not supportive or helpful in how I should go about starting the process. So I switched Dr.'s and I am so glad I did, he is supportive and helpful. If I have any concerns he's there to answer any questions he can. I don't how long you have been with your Dr. but maybe it's time for a change. Really Phentermine and Vicodin how is that going to fix your problem it's just going to cover up the pain and as soon as you quit taking the phentermine you'll gain the weight back. pills are not the answer. lara -
I have finally started the process of getting the Vertical Sleeve. I don't have a surgery date yet but I have already had my Lab and EKG work done and a consultation with the Nutritionalist and my Surgeon. I would love to hear from anyone in my area that has had the procedure done. I am going outside to Puget Sound to have the surgery done. So if there is anyone that has gone to that Clinic to have their procedure done I would love to talk to you too. First question - What do we do for clothes while we are losing at such a fast rate?
