  1. Yes it will be very different after the first fill. Sometimes it even takes a second. I was good for about 4 months with my first fill then started feeling I could eat too much and was not staying full long enough and only lost 1lb that month so I got my second fill and what a difference. You have to learn to listen to your band, eat very slowly and chew chew chew. I find that if I put my fork down between bites and don't get distracted I am less likely to get stuck and realize that I am full before I go too far. It will get better I promise. The last couple of weeks before my first fill were rough though. My sister just got her first fill and is learning that what she could eat before may not go down so easy now.

    Diet suggestions

My doc would have a fit if I was trying to eat those foods that early. If you must eat pizza make your own on a tortilla. It is the bread that is usually the problem. I eat alot of beans and Boca Vegan burgers and Boca Chik'n patties. They are quick n easy and filling.
  3. This goes hand in hand with the liquid diet. Each time I get a fill and go back on liquids it happens again. I asked my doc if I would have a BM if I am only consuming liquids and he said yes because there it a lot of bacteria in the gut, it won't be pretty but yes you will. It should improve as you transition to foods.
  4. Honeymoon is over, I was forewarned of this. Your swelling in the stomach has gone down and you have no restriction in your band yet. Just keep up with the protien shakes. I am 6 months post op and still do 3 a day. This way whatever I eat is bonus. Good luck to you. BTW I am down 59 lbs. You will be a loser soon too!!!
  5. As for the Maalox, sometimes that can have a laxative effect also so be careful with that.
  6. I was banded in March and that nurse should be scolded. I think GasX does help and I use the chewables alot. Also try papaya enzymes which are chewable and help with digestion. Also make sure you are getting good hydration. I am only 6months post and it is amazing how fast you begin to feel like an expert. Good luck to you.
  7. I was so nervous my first time also. I went in asking if they were gonna numb the area first and my doc said that hurt worse than the fill so "No". Doctors do this procedure different because my sister just had her first fill and they did numb the area and she said that hurt. My doctor has me lay on a table, raise my legs about six inches and hold while he palpated the port. This makes the stomach muscles contract and pushed the port up where it can be felt easily. Then he accesses the port with a syringe and I swear it literally takes about 60 seconds and it is over. I barely feel the needle prick and that was it. What a relief and what a difference that first fill made. I have since had a second fill and am up to 4cc and feel very comfortable with the restriction at this point. The only regret I have is that I did not do this sooner. Best of luck to you and don't sweat that first fill, it will be over so fast!!!

  9. Hey Jersey, I missed pizza so much I got creative and with a small 7inch tortilla, a little sauce, low fat cheese and turkey pepperoni or vegis you can have an awesome pizza without so much bread to get stuck. Bake on 350 for about 10-15 minutes...DELISH. My sis is one month banded and she just tried it and had no problem. Now I don't get jealous of others eating pizza. I just keep the fixings on hand and know I can have that for dinner.

    Going back to work

I bet after that much time your pants won't be so tight. You will be surprised how quickly you feel a difference in your clothes. I went back to work after a week and a half an also had to wear a uniform. My clothes were already alot more comfortable.
  11. After about the 2nd week my swelling had gone down and I felt like the honeymoon was over. They did warn me that this time before my first fill I would likely be hungry alot and they were not lying. That first fill made all the difference so take it very slow afterward. After about 4 months I was again feeling like I could eat too much and was not staying full for a long time. Got another fill and back to the green zone for me. It will get better, my sister just got her first fill and she was going through the same feelings. Best of luck to you!!!

    Pizza

I do the same thing, that way you control the toppings and is it sensational. My sister also tried it and her son loved making his own pizza two.

    I'M JUST NOT READY!!

I was nervous the first time too but it was over so fast I barely felt anything. I wanted to know if he was gonna numb the area and he said no that medicine hurt worse than what he was gonna do and he was right.

    ready to start

I was banded in March and have never looked back. My sister just got hers on Sept 1st. I invested in the Magic Bullet blender and use it EVERY day. I use a chocolate shake in the morning, sometimes adding PB2 (powdered Peanut Butter available online if you cant find it locally) which tastes like a peanut butter cup. During the day I drink unflavored protien in a sugar free lemonade. These really help keep hunger pains away and I have even converted some of my coworkers who are trying to lose weight. unjury is a great brand available online but I also use BioChem which also has 20 grams of Protein per serving. You can add lots of fruits to get variety but I am a creature of habit so it doesn't bother me to have the same thing every day. I get my variety from my meals and is good enough for me. I have lost 63 lbs in 6 months and wish the best of luck. Just don't get discouraged. The weight fell off so quick the first 2-3 weeks but when the stomach swelling went down and I hand no Fluid in the band the hunger crept back and weight loss slowed. I got on the obesity help website, got in a chat room and asked for help. This is what I was told: "Don't get discouraged, stay the path, take it one day and one pound at a time." So best of luck and don't ever forget to reach out for support!!!
