    It has been awhile!

Hello all, I have been reading some of your post and trying to keep up. I hope everyone is doing great. The journey has been great so far, somedays better than others. I had my surgery on September 29th and I would like to report that I am down 58 pounds as of today. I also recieved my first fill and I was a little nervous because I did not know what to expect. It was not bad at all. I have a total of 5cc's in my band and I will be on liquids until tuesday. Please keep pushing and never give up. Something that I have realize is that you may not see the weight right away but one day you will see it just fall off and you will be happy. Let me know how you are doing and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Yes, I don't know..my body has always been like that. You take food away and it shrinks fast. You give me food and boy do I gain super fast. I eat all my meals so I don't really know how to explain the rest.
  4. I am a little over a month out. I can tell you that I too was nervous that I would gain weight when I was released to go on solids. Your body will take its time to adjust but the weight will continue to come off as long as you do what the doctor says. Eat 4oz a meal and eat the foods that will help you body not hurt it. I am down 39 since my surgery and a total of 58 since the liver shinking diet.

Thanks all, @ Pooh plus size, I just did what the doctor told me to do and I only eat 40z exactly a meal. I have not really worked out because of my leg but I just stop when I finish my portions. Cheetah that is still good weight because think about it, you probably would have gained that plus more so keep you head up. All I can say is eat the right foods and walk as much as you can. If I find anything else that would help I will post it.
  9. Hey, how are you doing? I have not seen you since you left the hospital, I hope all is well.

mourning the loss of a dear friend.......FOOD.

I have to respond to this. I have been feeling the same way. I have cried and wondered why I did this to myself. This has been a little hard..not the surgery but the emotional side. I wanted to eat. This made me also realize my attachement to food. I felt like a little kid pouting. I thought I was the only one going through this but it has been a little difficult. I know my stomach cannot handle it but my mind wants all of it. I associated food with everything. But it is getting better. OH MY goodness, especially during the time of the month I cried and had cravings out of this world. Be encouraged Arnetta, we are in this together. Let's take it one day at a time.

    Dreaming of Food?

I am so glad that I saw this post. I am dreaming of food all the time and find myself watching the cooking channel alot. My mouth has been watering for some chicken and a sub. But I am not even that hungry, I just want it. I also find myself wanted to smell everyone's food and it actually satisfies me..wierd..lol. So you are not the only one. I know it is just my mind but I started the process and can't turn back now. I am just ready for some Soup or something. I am 7 days post-op.
  14. You will do okay. I lost 19lbs on the preop and now I am on the post diet. It will be okay before you know it and you will look back and amazment on how you did.

    Hospital stay vs outpatient

I see that you had the plication and wanted to see how you were doing with that. I also had the plication and lapband on Sept. 29th.
  16. @SuzieinTexas, I will keep you updated. Oh and keep me informed of your journey, you will make it.
  17. I was told to get to the hospital 6am this morning and I believe my surgery started around 8 ( I dont really know because I was out like lighting). I woke up to a nurse calling my name and feeling a little nauseous but I never threw up. I was in the recovery room for about a hour or so and then rolled back to my room. I was still in and out because the night before I could not sleep. Guess what I did you guys? I ate a piece of pizza and three wedges calling myself celebrating this new journey. My body was not ready for this. My head was spinning, I wanted to throw up and I had a headache. But you know what guys I learned from this and if eating with the band makes me feel this way I DON'T WANT IT. So it was a blessing in disquise! Anyways, I had to drink that nasty fluid (puke) to check for any leaks. It was good. I found out from my doctor that he not only did the lapband (which is not filled yet) he did the gastric plication as well. I was thrilled to know that he did this because it will help in my weight loss. How many had the plication as well? My doctor just started doing this a month ago with the lapband procedure. I am doing great. I am sipping on fluids all day long and I stay full. I think I may have gotten 200 calories today but I am full as I don't know what. So I am just letting everyone know that I am okay. I have so much energy that I impressed the nurses and walk all day long. :) Oh and so far have not had any gas pains and I have little pain. All Glory to God.
  18. Thank you Pooh plus size. I was feeling energy that day but whooooo the next day it felt like I got hit by a train...lol. How are you? Thank you Arnetta, I just read your blog and I happy that you are feeling okay. I have to admit, I did have a day where I thought, "Why did I do this" but I guess it is normal. It is our emotional side working on us. By day two I really had an emotional breakdown and my boyfriend was concerned..Probably was overwhelmed with everything. The second day I just left the hospital and my car would not start, it was just a mess. So I had to go home and sleep this off and I mean I slept. It is getting better and better and I am not really that sore. I do have gas but no gas in my shoulders or chest, just mainly when I drink anything.
  19. Thank you Pooh plus size. I was feeling energy that day but whooooo the next day it felt like I got hit by a train...lol. How are you?
  20. I am so happy that we have this in common. Not many people have the combo and it would probably be hard to understand the process with both if you dont have it. I really did not know that I was going to get it. It was a surprise to me. Apparently my doctor just started to do it about a month ago. So your email is angelizz10@yahoo? I want us to PEASE stay iin touch. WHen are you going to have it?

    I made It

I am glad you are okay, I look forward to hearing the good news. I was banded on thursday and so far so good. I feel kinda tired today but all will work out.
  22. DivaD50

    today was banding day.............

I too had mine today and it feels like I did all those crunches..lol. I am not in much pain either..right now by the way, I can't speak for tomorrow.
  23. You are not alone, I had this procedure done today and I love it.
  24. My surgery is on thursday and I am feeling good. The preop diet was was challenging at times but it really test my will power. This journey is not just about my weight it is about my emotions, my drive and determination and we can go on and on. I had to dig deep down inside and tell my self NO when I wanted to sabotash myself. During this time I have learned alot about my self and that in order to live longer you have to take care of the temple God has given you. I am more excited to have the surgery than nervous, but ofcourse there is the fear of the unknown which comes from experiencing new things. I weighed myself and I am down 19 pounds and I am very proud of myself. It put a on my face. I pray that everyone else is doing great and I enjoy reading the stories and getting help.
