Everyone can add me, I love this app. kymie98989 -
Appts this morning so jumped up and went to gym and got 545 calories burned before I even started the day! Wool hoop! This has never happened for me.
-
How many calories is everyone eating? And are you using exercise calories burned to increase over your calorie goal? For example I have a 1000 calorie goal but burn 500 calories so I can eat 1500 calories for the day.

Gained 3 lbs.....but it is my Tom so maybe that's it. Totally analyzing my journal and feeling guilty knowing I can do better.
-
Re-signing up for my gym membership! Treadmill is getting boring and want some more variety.
-
I have collar bones!

I think I just figured out insurance paid all of surgery costs! So confusing between NRA and deductible and billed amt vs patient responsibility but omg if it's all paid for I am one happy lady!!!!!

Support From You Signifigant Other?
kymie9899 replied to MummyMeagan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Support comes and goes. One minute I get encouraged the next (5 seconds ago) he tries shoving cheesecake in my mouth, literally. I said no and turned it away, yay me! -
My doc says 70-80 protein still and shakes are fine to take. Perhaps it's your low protein level?

From what I can tell u see each others status updates like u see for yourself. Weight lost, days tracked, exercise and calorie goal completion. You can encourage and support each other and for myself knowing others will see what I have or have not done gives a push to be accurate in my journaling and keeps me accountable.

Anyone using my fitness pal? I love it and could use friends. See what that part of the app is about. My username is the same kymie9899

That process is crazy! My doc will fill every 2 weeks as necessary. We do the fill and the barium swallow in his office in the same room. So he adjusts right there if needed. In and out 10 minutes. I got 6 cc first and yesterday another 3. Did swallow and backed out 0.2 cc.

Going in for 2nd fill tomorrow and it's about time. Had to hold off for a week while the Dr office was closed so it feels like that week lasted forever! Will be glad to have restriction again. I know the band is called a "TOOL", but I consider mine more of a "WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION!" It is amazing to be at restriction and utilize the methods we have tried so many times in the past and failed in. Our new weapon is what gives me that fighting edge to see that I can change my health and will see progress! Have a happy healthy week everyone, and keep it up! We are getting there!!!!! :D :D :D

Need another fill! My dr says every 2 weeks I can come in....unfortunately he's closed tomorrow and he only does fills on Monday's so I have to wait another week. A little frustrated cause again I have no restriction and feel I will be a week behind now. I'm running Into this void of not knowing what I should eat and also thoughts of if I ever lose all 200+ pounds my skin everywhere will be old looking saggy and droopy what if I look terrible and need surgery? What if I can't get or afford surgery to fix skin? I know my health is priority #1 for sure, but I still wonder. I have felt overweight since I was young. My family made me feel overweight since I hit puberty, even though I didn't start gaining weight till high school. And I was never obese until after my kids around 23. So I've been overweight for 13 years. My whole adult life. But felt overweight for 20 years. I often think I have no idea what I'm doing and it's impossible for me to be skinny. I bought weight loss surgery for dummies. And weight loss surgery recipes for dummies this weekend. Hoping I can gain some inspiration and drive from them. Also finding our hospital support group to be all people who have been at it for years and not come near goal weight so Im Wondering where are the successes?

I've had longer ones as well. It's hormone related. There's a good string on here somewhere I found where numerous people have experienced the same. It comes down to your weightless and hormone level changes

My first fill was 6cc's. Had it a week ago today. Can have another fill next week. Lost 8 pounds last week but still eating more than a cup at meals. So I will be needing another fill at that appointment. Doing better though which is good. This is at least better than no restriction at all for sure. Love my band!
-
Yay, so first fill on Monday went good. I have had good restriction and am in love with my band again! Was going to wait until Monday a full week since fill to jump on scale but caved tonight when my jeans (button and zipper, NOT elastic) were falling off at work! 8 lbs lost since Monday! Whoo Hooo! I"m back! I know it won't stay that high and will taper off soon but it's good to know that the band can work and I can see that light again of hope.

WellI haven't posted for a long time.I've had zero restriction for weeks now and can eat everything. I do great during the week packing my lunches but dinnertime and the weekends are crazy. It's hard to not eat what the rest of the family is eating. I have began exercising though. I'm up to 20 good minutes on the treadmill at 3 times a week. I also got in a zumba CD the other day and did that as good as I can, who knew you have hip muscles! I'm pushing myself harder and trying hard not to compare myself to others. If I keep increasing my exercise and pushing myself I feel I'm doing good. But sometimes hearing the accomplishments of others on here feels like I'm failing this battle. Well I go in for my first fill today, 6 weeks postop. I'm going to look at this as the next step of the process. I haven't gained anymore so I feel that's good news with no restriction for sure! I'll keep posting to keep myself accountable. Wishing everyone an energetic week!

Premiere chocolate protein shakes from SAMs club are sweet and kill my sweet cravings. Recommended by my doc and have 30g protein. They don't have an aftertaste and just taste good.

I was also worried about this same problem, but was banded on Jan 9th. I ended up losing 5 pounds day of surgery due to day before not allowed to eat anything. I think the advice the NP is giving is what they really would prefer, however I went into hospital morning of and yeah they weighted me but it was not a part of any decision to move forward with surgery or not. I was very stressed about not meeting the goal and also asked for advice on the topic. Bottom line, focus on doing your best and being positive about the choice you have made and how great the outcome will be. I myself can completely stress myself into a mess which causes more strain. Just breathe and if they get snippy with you...you can always snip back and explain your doing the best you can. Lots of warm wises your way!

Pre Surgery Liquid Diet Failing - Ideas, Help?
kymie9899 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Monday Jan 9th and I'm on a liquid diet last week and this. Problem is I haven't lost any weight yet. It's entirely my fault, going through the holidays my "sensible meal" was larger than it should be. It wasnt that I was eating sweets, just to big of portions of what I did eat. So now of course I'm freaked out about not being able to have surgery. Does anyone have any recommendations for the time between now and Monday? The two shakes a day are covered, no brainer, but the sensible meals any ideas? Or should I honestly at this point just switch to 3 shakes a day since there is ZERO time between now and Monday. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? -
Approval Seems A Bit Too Easy.
kymie9899 replied to tsteves1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a PCP who hates the thought of WLS, my surgeon did everything for me and said your PCP is required to to the necessary presurgical tests. I went this week and had no problem, and surprisingly my PCP was nicer when she saw that I don't need her opinion to get what I know I need done. I think if you get the records ( I know I did) from all your different doctors or specialists these can be used as they will show a history of problems and comorbidities. -

I Have United Health Care HRA Choice Plus through Novartis and began in Oct. Went to nutritionist, counselor eval, hospital preop. Submitted letter for approval and had approval in about a week. Going in Monday for Surgery. UHC has many different programs but I've heard and found that it's a good one to work with. I've called and received a million different answers but my surgeon's office has had no problems at all and said it's the best one. It can be just that easy, I think unfortunately you tend to hear the horror stories more than the positive ones. Congratulations and good luck on your journey!
