Tri Care said NO! But have other questions
Lizbeth replied to poohmsg's topic in Insurance & Financing
O.k. so frusrated. I called tricare back with the cpt code (43775) for the vsg surgery once again to see if what they said earlier was true and nope they were wrong. Its not covered unless done at an mtf. My mtf does not do it so I have to find one close to me to see if they do it. I live in Phenix City, Alabama stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia so if anyone knows a close mtf that offers this pleases share!!! The man on the phone told me tricare has nothing to do with the mtf as they dont file claims with tricare so he couldn't tell me if I could have the surgery at another mtf and how to go about doing that.....grrrr So this puts yet another stall in the process! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Congrats, excited for you. I'm just starting my process and hope it goes fast.....Good luck and hope to meet you on the losers bench!!!!!

Thanks so much.....Congrats on your surgery.....I hope I can get this approved and fast. It seems like once you make the decision it goes so slow. But my Dr. said she thinks I am a good candidate for this and thinks I shouldn't have any trouble getting it. Heres to hoping and praying. Thanks so much excited to hear about your progress!!!!!

Well I had my appt. with my pcm today and she said she would give me a refferal with no problem. O.k. next hurdle, I have to find a surgeon that I want to do my surgery. I need one near Atlanta, Ga. as there is none in my area (phenix city, al) so if anyone reads this and can help that would be awesome....so until then I will do lots of research!

I will let you know how it goes. I will also ask my friend to post her experience on here as well. It would be pretty crappy if they are approving some and not others. The best of luck to you! -
I'm in Phenix City.......I am from upstate N.Y. and ended up here due to a military move. Hoping to have surgery just starting the process. Just hoping to meet some others and share our journey.

I was told by tricare yesterday you could get approved with a civilian provider if your mtf does not do the procedure. I have an appt. tomorrow with my pcm to try and get a referral for the vsg. I am almost 100 lbs overweight have pcos, high cholesterol and some joint pain. I was told by a friend who had a vsg via tricare that I should qualify for the surgery with no problem. Hoping it goes well. I will keep you all posted on my journey. -

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome & Sleeve
Lizbeth replied to MSanti's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have not yet been sleeved but I am just starting the process. I to have pcos ugh. I have spoken to a friend who has pcos and was sleeved 18months ago. She said her carb intake totaly controls her loss. She has got it down to a science for her body. She said if she goes above 19g of carbs she stalls. So I am thinking we all will have to play around with the amount of carbs we all comsume.....Good luck all and I look forward to joining the loser list soon! -

Oh congrats that is wonderful news. I am just starting my process and I am in hopes that it goes that smooth and quick. I to have never had surgery and am scared of something going wrong. But the results out weigh the fears as I am afraid of having a stroke or heart issues years down the road. Especially with a family history of health issues. I wish you the best of luck and will place you in my prayers.......so excited for you!!!! -
Where are my Flirty Thirties?
Lizbeth replied to travelchick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All, 36 here from Phenix City Alabama and just starting my process towards the surgery.....I am a military spouse and mother of 2 teen boys 18 and 15. I am hoping the road to surgery isn't to long as I am so ready since I finally made the decision to do it. My reunion is about 2yrs off as well, hadn't really thought about it. I laugh everytime I look at the old styles that are back, but oh to wear slouch boots and skinny jeans again and rock them....lol Looking forward to getting on the way! -
Thanks everyone for the welcome. I am so excited to start the process. I have talked to a friend who had it done and said I would probably qualify as I have high cholesterol and PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrom) which makes me insulin intolerant. My family history is pretty yuck in terms of stroke, heart disease and diabetes. Trying to nip this in the butt now before I end up with major issues. My bmi is around 38 so she said having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and such will qualify people who dont have a bmi of 40 or over. She is also military. I guess that I will see if I qualify with the cholesterol and pcos.

Hello Everyone, I'm Heather L. We are active duty Army stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. I am just starting the process and have an appt. this friday to try and get a referral to have a VSG. I am so ready to be healthy again. I have been struggling sisnce my 20's (now 36) with weight issues and was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrom) which makes it so difficult to lose any weight. Any info on the process to surgery would be great. Also if anyone knows of any dr.'s that do it in the area that would be great.

Just starting the process. I have an appointment this friday with my pcm to see if I can get a referral for VSG. I have PCOS and after lots of research here I am. I don't want to end up with a medical history like me parents. Any advice going into this would be great.
