Medicare Coverage For Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
monty replied to monty's topic in Insurance & Financing
Unfortunately we are being discriminated against!!! (age) You can find a letter my husband and I wrote to the surgeon general and also medicare sent registered mail on a past post. Surgeon Gen passed it on to someone probably the circular file. My husband found out that you have to go thru 7 appeals (6 denials). What a beurocracy!! I was sleeved Monday because I just couldn't wait any longer and will appeal that way. Leters etc. Thank God for e-mails. If you hear anything please let me know. The more people we have behind this the better chance to be heard. Power to the people!!! -
Medicare Coverage For Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Hi, would love to know how you are getting it approved. I had my surgery Mon. I was aproved by my United Health care manged Medicare<BR style="RIGHT: auto" id=yui_3_2_0_16_131780830759345>for the by-pass. However after reading several books and researching on the net, I decided to get the sleeve. My managed care plan refused to cover it on the basis that they only cover what Medicare covers, even though there is a code for it. Better get it in writing as you wil see a people got rejected at the last minute. I am on your side and if you get it in writing I would love to hear back from you. Good luck -

Thanks, I'll tell my friend. -
My surgery is Monday and I am trying to get everything together. Has anyone on here come up with a means to track the water, protein, vitamins and other nutrional items, like a spread sheet or tally or journal. I would apreciate your suggestions as I would like to get it together before I come home zoned out!

Hi. Well the big day is Monday10-2-11. I was so confident, but when I went to the grocery store to get the foods for level 2 I started to panic about scheduling and fitting everything in. It now seems so overwelming!! Did anyone make a chart and/or diary. If so how did you set it up? Any feed back and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome. My surgery is Monday, but I have a friend who would like to get the sleeve but she has limited income. Would you mind sharing with me the cost in Mexico without airfare? Perhaps if it is more reasonable than here she will have hope. Thanks -
I posted this under the wrong topic before. Did anyone use a binder or girdle after the sleeve? Was it advised by the surgeon? Did it help, what brand/type did you use, and would you buy that type again? Thanks so much!!!

Hi, I am dreading dumping! I have experienced that because I had my sigmoid colon out. Sometimes if I eat salad or something I shouldn't I feel like I am going to die and sometimes wish at that moment I would, beacause of the symptoms you describe. It pisses me off even now so I am sure I will be double pissed if that happens! I had my preop ed class yesterday. They said in the 2nd stage to eat yogurt. But when I went to the store today (surgery is Monday) all of the yougurts I looked at had sugar. I looked for Greek-same thing and I didn't find any no sugar or splenda yogurt.. How did you handle that? Thanks for responding .
