Okay, I've read quite a few of the "skinny bucket lists" on here and notice that alot of you, like me, want to lose weight so we can wear sexy tall boots. Well here I sit, less than 30 lbs from my goal...and as of a month ago I tried on a pair and it still wasn't happening! *sad face* With only 30 lbs left to go I don't know how much of that can possibly come from my calves. Is there people at their goal who still can't wear them? Sheesh, are my calves really that fat? I assumed that any 150 lb girl whose an 8/10 like I should/hopefully will be would be able to wear tall boots!

Yes, I started it 2 weeks post op. It's a program to get you running a half hour straight, or a 5 K depending on how fast you run, without stopping. It starts with running intervals as short as one minute at a time, with walking in between. Every week the running intervals get longer and the walking intervals get shorter until eventually you're just running. I loved it, it got me started running and I ran a half marathon last month. Google it and check it out

Why Protein Powder?
NurseDana replied to IL_MissKitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second the Nectar protein..the brand is Syntrax. I didn't *love* the Roadside lemonade but it was okay. Strawberry kiwi was better, and now I drink Vanilla Bean Tort every morning...mixed with a glass of skim milk it is 32 gms of protein and 190 calories...and tastes alot like Carnation instant breakfast vanilla. Not bad! It can be trial and error to find out what you like, so whenever possible buy sample packets before you commit to a huge expensive jug. -
Why Protein Powder?
NurseDana replied to IL_MissKitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink a protein drink for breakfast every morning because I simply would not get enough protein otherwise. I don't eat much meat or other high protein foods so if I get a shake in each morning I don't have to worry about it too much the rest of the day. -

What an awesome feeling...way to go! -
Note to all: Do not get a fill just before any important event! I started running 2 weeks after surgeryin October doing the Couch to 5K, then started training to run my first half marathon. I should have been doing that this morning, but instead I was at my doctors office getting an unfill I got a fill on Wednesday afternoon and was good with just liquids for a couple of days. Starting yesterday I couldn't even get those down. I had my first PB from a smoothie... into a cup, in my car while driving. Not good. When it got to the point that I was puking water up I called my doctor and he told me to come in this morning. Obviously, after going 24 hrs with no liquids and being unable to drink, there was no way I could run 13.1 miles. So disappointed!! So I hope everyone can learn from my mistake and get a fill far in advance of any important events! Side note: When I got to the doc and he had me take a drink under fluoro, the liquid was going through, so I'm not sure if some swelling went down or what. Anyway, he took 0.3 cc's out and I was able to drink without pain. However now at home I'm sipping juice and while it's going down, it is a little uncomfortable, whereas in the office it was not at all. Any idea what gives with that?

Yesterday was just a band loving kind of day for me. My son and I went to Worlds of Fun, and amusement park in Kansas City that is about 3 hours from us. First of all, since eating in the car is not a great idea, I didn't indulge eat anything the whole way there. BB (before band) I would have loaded up on snacks and soda to have while driving. Second of all, I have not gone to amusement parks for years, partly because I was deathly afraid I wouldn't fit in a roller coaster and that would be beyond humiliating for me. Next, instead of roasting outside wearing short sleeves and pants, I was feeling nice and cool in a tank top and (Bermuda) shorts...which I would not have been caught dead in a year ago. Not to mention the tank was a medium and the shorts were a 10, which are sizes I have never in my life worn until now! Lastly, while I did have a few different things to eat at the park, I did not gorge myself like I would have BB. I had a few bites of funnel cake here, a little bit of popcorn there...and I felt satisfied and not deprived at all. Okay, maybe I felt slightly deprived because I heart soft pretzels more than anything and they had ridiculously big ones there that I would love to have devoured, but it was not worth my money to buy one only to eat a few bites. So I didn't, and that was okay. I also walked around the park for 10 hours and was not particularly tired and my feet didn't even really hurt. The moral of the story is, while there has been a...learning curve...7 months out and 84 pounds down....I love my band!

Beth...you totally need to go back! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that....but with your skinny self that should not be a problem now!

Congrats on your decision! It will be hard work but the pay off is so worth it! Good luck to you and keep coming back here...its a great place for information and support! -
Awesome job! My fitness pal is the best! And 6 lbs is great...anytime the scale is moving down is a victory!
-
How...how are we all doing? I feel like I'm doing better with my eating (most days) and I'm down 14 lbs...20 left til goal! How about you all??
-
Good luck to you! This is a good place to get information and support. As for the bleeding, I ahve heard a lot of women here say that surgery has messed with their cycle so I wouldn't worry too much, but of course contact your doctor if you're concerned.

Way to go on the weight loss! I have about 20 lbs to go, so here's to us both getting this last little bit of weight off!

I think that pickles, apples and broccoli can all be difficult, and I think chicken is very hard for some people too. I agree, try taking smaller bites and chewing even more and see how that goes. If you still can't get more than a few bites down you may need an unfill. Good luck!

OMG, I totally thought of this post the other day. A few days after a fill, which ended up being way too much, I stopped and got a smoothie on my way out to Omaha, which is an hour away. I was going to a wedding so I had a Spanx on. I took one sip of the smoothie and it was immediately clear that it was not going down. I was completely miserable the entire drive and even ended up throwing up, in a cup, in my car...not cool! Anyway, I did not realize yet that I was too tight as I has been fine up until then, so I was completely convinced that it was from the Spanx! Turns out it wasn't, but I do still think that the tightness of the Spanx could limit how much you eat and how full you feel.

I know it's frustrating to have more road blocks thrown up at you! But like other people I had a 6 month nutrition counseling I had to do before hand and it was hard waiting at the time, but it will go by fast and you will get your band! It can only help you be more successful if you are in the best possible health before hand.

I agree with what has been said. I definitely think starting some exercise is good. It will give you something to do, help you lose a little weight and get you used to it so after surgery it will be easier to get started. Good luck!
