  2. Happy 27th Birthday lmscrogg!

  3. I originally started my journey looking to do the LapBand but after consulting with my surgeon and researching other procedures even more, now I am getting RNY Gastric Bypass. I have done all of my requirements and I do believe my claim is being sent to my insurance company either today or tomorrow at the latest!!! I am excited and feel like a little the week of Christmas. I should be having surgery at the begining of December at the latest!!! Can't wait to get to know all of you. I also have a VLOG on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/lmscrogg
  4. Has anyone had Dr.Van Wagner in Saint Louis?

  5. I am currently looking for some size 28W pants. If you have any that are too big for you let me know :-) I am willing to pay the shipping if you are willing to just give them away.

    New to the RNY

Thanks Dani257969 I am hoping that this forum gets a little more active too :-) I think we could all really help each other out.
  8. Hi! My name is LaToya. I was in the process of getting the LapBand but my surgeon (Dr.Van Wagner-St.Louis) suggested that the RNY Gastric Bypass will be my best bet. I have been overweight since I was 11 years old and probably even before that. It was very emotional when Dr.Wagner told me that he didn't think I would be 'as' succesful with the LapBand....I really appreciated his honesty. So now I am going back and researching everything dealing with the RNY. I am concerned that it is a mal-nutrition process. But I do have at least 200 pounds to loose. Can't wait to get to know everyone. Would love to know if anyone else is seeing Dr.Wagner as well!
  9. I am wondering if anyone else has Dr.Van Wagner as thier surgeon? I just saw him on Friday 9/16/11 and he recommended that I get the RNY Gastric Bypass. What is life like after the bypass? Is anyone on here more than 1 year post-op?

I would like to know what you find out as well...
  11. Hello everyone! I had joined this site because I was in the process of getting the lapband.... Well today I had my 'official' consult with the surgeon and he really believes that the Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass is my best option due to my weight. I had mixed emotions about it but now that I have reviewed everything and talked with my family I do agree with what he had to say. So my question is----why have you changed from the band to the Gastric Bypass? I also want to point out how glad I am that there is a forum on here for us who started out as 'bandsters' because I have made some friends on these forums already and did not want to leave :-)

    Confused

I just notice that this was not answered ::-) I am new on this board.... But I was informed that the 'sleeve' is just a stepping stone. The sleve is for those that are too big for the bypass. They get the sleeve to loose enough weight to get the bypass. I thought I was going to get the lapband and now I am going to get the gastric bypass due to the higher sucess rate.
