I just had my third fill and, like the previous two, it was sheer torture! He can find my port, but he says that since it is sitting at an angle, it is hard to find the right spot for the fill. This time he had to pull the needle out, give me another double dose of the numbing shot, and then he went in again to find the right spot. It is so horrifying and traumatic for me to get my fills that I am seriously considering not getting another. I asked about getting an x-ray, but he said that it wouldn't be helpful because the port moves around and isn't always in the same spot. They do not use fluoroscope, and I don't know if there is any other options. My friend goes with me and gets her fill at the same time. Hers always goes so easy so I think that maybe mine will be better this time, but it is always bad.

I live in Southern California and last month I took a turn-around trip to Arizona. I was fine on the way there, but on the return trip I could feel that my band was tighter. Since I had previously had no restriction from my first two fills I was super excited! After about a week or so, the feeling faded. I had just assumed that it had something to do with the changes in altitude.

My Reward For The First 20 Lbs Gone.
necij replied to brokenwings's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great idea! May be the motivation and reminder I need. Hope you don't mind if I borrow your idea. -
Thanks Deb! No one had talked about this "Bandster's Hell" so I just wasn't prepared for this. Your pep talk definitely helped

I'm in the same boat with you! I don't feel any restriction at all and my willpower is getting weak. Despite my requests to keep my surgery private, my friend told everyone I had it and now I am starting to get the questions too. It is so frustrating! I am beginning to think that I made a HUGE mistake by choosing the Lap Band instead of Gastric Bypass

What Vitamins Are You Taking Or Going To Take?
necij replied to pbmls223's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I currently take a Nature Made multi, a Flintstones chewable, 2 Citracal Petites, a Nature Made Biotin 5000mcg, and Philips' Colon Health. My doctor pushes the Bariatric Advantage, but we don't have to take chewables. The Colon Health is fabulous for helping with gas! -
I do not handle pain well at all. In fact, I had to stay an extra day in the hospital because of my pain. Right around one month post-op I realized that the pain was 99.9% gone. The only time I feel it now is if I bend too long or reach too far, and then it's just a little twinge.

I am there and hating it!!! 9 more days to my first fill

Around the one month mark I finally stopped feeling port pain My first fill isn't until May 24th. I feel some restriction, but not a lot. My friend had hers done the week before me and has had no restriction at all. I think the only reason we've lost any weight at all is because we've worked really hard at it. It has not been easy!

Hi Everyone I was banded on April 3rd. Today I hit my lowest weight in over 5 years!! My friend and I went to our local support group this week and were VERY disappointed. The room was packed, but only one other person there had been banded. Everyone else had the gastric bypass and we felt like outsiders. Hopefully the next meeting will be better. I am still having A LOT of pain where my port is. Does anyone know when that goes away? Thanks

Post-Op Essentials Shopping List Suggestions
necij posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm new here! My surgery was approved and I am going to do my shopping for everything that I will need post-op. What have you tried and how did it work? Any advice on items that might make recovery more comfortable? I am super worried about having the essential Vitamin and Protein supplements and am afraid that I won't have what I need! I have been unable to work due to my weight and am on a fixed income, so I can't afford to make any mistakes! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
