  3. I just started them. Find they don't stick and they are lost by evening. I wont know what my values are for several months but i do have methylated b12 now. Powdered c. Powdered magnesium citrate. My magnesium was very low. I am told that too low cholesterol for both numbers is not good! And that i have myriad mal-absorption problems. Also bacterial overbloom and inflammation. I DO feel better taking the magnesium supplements etc. Slightly less fatigued. Znd less depressed, too. But its not even a whole month yet. Heartburn came back these last couple days. So...hang in. At least not gaining wt. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Vitamin Patches

I do like buying medication from a practice. Feels like a scam to me. But how do u manage with them? Do u put them in in early a.m. for the whole day? What happens when you go to gym in mid morning and then have to shower? Can u take it off for shower and replace after? Or do u need to open another one? Does the patch leave sticky residue?

    Vitamin Patches

I'm having my functional medicine doc look into them as being more absorbable than chewed or swallowed vitamins
  8. I admire your determination. I too refised all hospital food and insisred on eggs, cheese, yoghurt whatever i could get and strictly adhered to the diet during a couple of stays in the hosp. But there is something that negated that resolve later and i am bound and determined to discover an answer for this. NONE OF US HAD THE SURGERY TO PUT WEIGHT BACK ON A FEW YEARS LATER. I cant emphasize that enough. There is something else at work here for those of us who have put on some weight years later. I do not think it is moral failure or weak resolve or falling off the wagon or whatever the convention is. I know it is not for me and i know thats not a delusion Im going to see a functional medicine practitioner in October to the tune of $300 an hour. Hopefully she will help with intestinal bacterial overbloom and hopefully i will find the answer to my dilemma at least.
  9. 2anne et al When I feel really rotten I say I failed it. When I get a bit out of the dumps I say I can start again...and I do. But the point is that we did not need this surgery in the first place because it isn't the answer to the problem. The answer is in our emotional and psychological control. Not physical. Unless that bacterial over bloom theory proves true. Or unless it really is a factor of both.

I resemble that remark "not a perfect world" or anything else. I restarted the fitness pal etc. Will see where that goes.

    Why do people regain

@@jaxmom I took a trip to wales two years ago . Had a wonderful time. sobbed to sit in the airplane and not need 2 extenders for setbelt. Did not have to have two seats. My thighs did not go numb while seated. So yeah, i did appreciate the loss. But the gain is frighteningly fast. It took me a year and a half to become physically able to make that trip. Now,declining physical ability is throwing me for a loop.

    Why do people regain

Wait a minit...i thought we were not counting calories but protein and limiting carbsm. At least thats what ive been doing tonthe best of my abilty aince 2011. This year i actually tasted matzah for the first time. I still have the unfinished box here. Have no desire for more. Have not touched other simple carbs at all. I went to the BRM site and calculated that i need 2,098 calories or 2,365. I am going to try a different diet and see what that does. But i will not resume simple carbs. I know i can't do that without reverting to addictive behavior. I cant believe im actually eating that many calories every day. Back to the drawing board. Thanks, JAMIELOGICAL.

    Why do people regain

But there is a mathematical equation that cannot be contested as simple as 1+1 =2. We cobsume fewer calories after wls. The body loses. The metablolism slows. The only way to continue the liss is to consume fewer and fewer calories. And to up the exercise. If you cannot maintain the exercise regime for whatever reason, you gain. How low can u go with calories and still have adequate Protein consumption? Assume u can get nutients from chewable supplements and assume u r psychologically satisfied with that regime as well(...i was not...i need to chew...) but assume all other things being equal, we are able to muck thru that..each time we reduce caloric intake and lose, the matabolism slows even more to fight back..is this a sustainable life ? I hardly think so.

I move when my arthritis allows it. When it doesnt i do upper bodybwork on the parts that dont hurt. Currently PT 2x week for fractured patella, 2x week for foot arthritis, personal trainer 2x a week and pool or chair yoga other times. I also see a counselor. Anybother co trucrive criticism? Your body will fight to regiain the wt you lost nomatter HOW u lost it. Prove that wrong and i wilk start hoping again

@alexbrecher. I assume u r not hiding under a rock. You read the revent NYTimes article abt the bidy fighting to regain the weight. Did you disagree with that scientific evidence?. Do u have scientific disputes of same? I am bummed out sice reading it and really depressed. Ready to thow in the towel.
  22. I could eat a cow, i think. I do not feel any restriction. At least not like i cab recall. I could eat a pound box of pasta but i dont do that anymore. So i dont know if im eating the equivalent of how i ate b4 surgery. I could eat a whole pound bag of chips and a 1/2 gal ice cream. Before. I feel like i am eating a lot now. Not the same things. Carrots. Peppers cuckes, ice pops nut butter celery ....but i eat so much of bit and so constantly. Thats the old me with a new menu.
  23. Im jealous, wondering1. Keep it going!
  24. Strangefruit I cited the artice to 2Anne. My cardio thinks the wt l8ss,on biggest looser was faster than we lost after surgery. I disagree. I think both are the same relatve rate of loss. What do u all think? Yes, i csnt lose unless i severely restrict caloric intake. I started higher than most so probably reached that 'fighting plateau " sooner than thise who had less to lose. D*mn
  25. 2Anne Smart! If u saw article in NYTimes about metabolic changes after significant wt loss...i hope you can find a different solution. I will have blood tests to determine what i am missing in terms of amino acids, hormones etc. And will follow up with supplements if necessary. Or i will resume phentermine and ssri reuptake inhibitor meds. But i wont allow the wt to come back to 400+.
