23 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery, Been Stalled For About 2 Wks Now....ugh
aliescha replied to Lisa821's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I totally get you, I did the same thing for about almost two Weeks but it finally started up again after I looked at what I was eating. I had been allowing myself two Lindt truffles each night and realized that when I started that I stopped dropping weight even though it wasn't much in the way of calories but I think the sugar and fat were the culprit. I stopped while also chiding myself on trying to revert to old habits and the pounds started coming off again. Now I'm 34 days out and down the same in pounds but two days ago stalled out again but I think this time its just a natural body recovering period because I have really been careful about what I'm eating. I think when we lose so much weight in a short amount of time its natural for our bodies to take time outs and re normalize. Even though those stalls make us doubt everything we just put ourselves through I think they are a normal thing. -

Hi all, I was sleeved on the 26th and for the last few days I having been feeling hungry all the time and I can't tell you how bad I want one bite of a grilled cheese sandwich or a chicken something. I have been doing pretty good with fluids I've been drinking Water and Protein shakes and eating pureed cream Soup soup but I still feel hungry and I really want a bite of something savory. I know power of this is head hunger but I also feel genuinely hungry. anybody have any suggestions. I'm not going to east anything I'm not supposed to, I worked too hard to get here and I don't want to do anything to mess that up or hurt myself but I'm really struggling. -

@ vst addict I totally thought of doing the same thing the other day but I don't trust myself enough not to swallow, I bought a magic bullet today and am experimenting with smoothies and purees. I have one more week until I can eat blended food like tuna I'm just counting the days until then. I'm glad I'm not alone with this craziness :-) -

Thanks for the replies guys, I totally have the fuzzy teeth thing too but it seems to getting better. I think Shae is correct about the chewing and natural teeth brushing. I have gotten a little better with the hunger, I made cheeseburger soup and purred it the other day and that helped alot. Thanks everyone -
Day 3 of 10 and wow I develop a whopping headache tonight. I just had a Protein shake and a Greek yogurt so that is helping a bit. I am on full liquids with the focus on protein I think I am going through a carb withdrawal I didn't realize how much I have actually been eating carbs until now. Also now the anxiety and fear is setting in. I'm really afraid that come 20 years from now I'm going to look back and an regret making such a drastic change to my body because there isn't a whole lot of long term data on the sleeve yet. Yet at the same time I realize that if I don't do this now I will probably be facing a whole host of other problems so I guess doing this is probably going to be more of a safe bet than not. Just feeling a bit scared of the unknown. Also I've never had surgery of any kind so I'm afraid how that is going to feel. Surgery is scheduled for October 26th and it is now becoming very real especially being on the preop diet and feeling crumby and grouchy. This website has helped me so much to see that I'm not alone so I wanted to share my feelings and maybe get some words of encouragement from my fellow sleevers :-)

Headache has now subsided and I actually feel pretty good, I lost 5 pounds over the last 2 days which is pretty impressive. I'm not a caffeine drinker so I think the headache was from the stupid carb withdrawal but I'm happy so say it has passed.

Hello All, I am 32 years old and I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on the 26th of October. I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my life but I have some questions about what to expect right after surgery since my mind seems to keep forgetting there is a section between the surgery and looking and feeling good. The funny thing is that I am a nurse but I have always worked in Emergency rooms never on the inpatient floors so I only see the people who have problems with surgeries (any surgery not just bariatric) and I don't actually see the recovery part. My question is this, how much pain should I expect and for how long? I have never even broken a bonem I have been really lucky to never really need the services which I provide so I am really unsure what to expect. I would like to know what it is going to feel like when I wake up after surgery and what to expect as far as energy, I have heard people are exhausted for quite some time after. I am planning on going back to work 20 days after surgery but my boss is wonderful and has told me to call if I need longer and also to talk to my HR rep about short term disability. What have people experienced going back to work and such? I would love detailed responses and don't be afraid to be brutally honest and descriptive, remember I see the worst of the worst so you won't offend me thanks so much for considering and letting me introduce myself.

Surgery Oct 26th and need some help
aliescha replied to aliescha's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
thank you all so much for the detailed replies they are incredibly helpful to me @Chilljill - I am so sorry you were in so much pain the first couple of days, I have heard that reasoning about being able to feel pain to tell if something is wrong from doctors (usually surgeons of course) but there is a line between being able to feel the pain and being in agony. Thank you so much for all the detail I feel very prepared now and I will definitely talk to my surgeon when I see him on Wednesday about pain control. If you were my patient I would not have let you be that uncomfortable, that what drugs are for!! -
