  2. Peace queen, thinking of you, welcome to the losers bench!
  3. Right there with you, 8 days out...also, from colo springs and went to USC in pueblo way back. The head hunger at this point bites. I am trying to remember that this phase will only last so long, you know, and find more satisfying things on the list of stuff I can have. Welcome!

    December sleevers!

LOL, yep, my project bag is always next to me, for sure! But I am procrastinating on finishing the second sock of a pair for my husband. Big feet. Little patience, but I am right at the point of turning the heel.

    Wednesday Followup

I am in a similar place. I haven't lost a lot yet. Weirdly, when I got home, I'd lost a few below, no Water weight to lose, which was initially nice, but I've only dropped about 2 lbs more since then. But on my docs scale, with my winter clothes on, they said I had only lost 2 lbs total, that was kind of depressing. You'd think a week on Clear liquids having 250 calories or less I could do better than that, but its gotta go sometime I hope. You've lost a lot of weight though, OMG -- 84 lbs! You rock!
  6. You know I'm happy for you Big hugs!! That is awesome!
  7. Highly recommended quick read for #wls tweets, @jenniferjoyner memoir-- Designated Fat Girl.....sooooo much of myself in there.

  8. Great info all. Uxgrrrrl....oh about the incision, yowza, undissolved stitches!! Meme, I was told I can take 1000mg, so should be ok, they just didn't specify what form. Interesting about adh. Yep, I am consistently getting 60-70 oz of Water. My bp was up immediately after surgery, a few google links suggest its a fairly common occurrence post any surgery. So again more doc questions! Lots of possible answers. Will keep you posted on doc opinion!
  9. Hi guys, I'm a week post op today. Woke up today for the first time feeling good without pain as I sat myself up. Though I would try to switch to just plain tylenol today. I feel like I've already taken the heavy duty stuff too long. Anyway, my discharge notes don't specify, and I can't remember-- can we use tylenol caplets, or do we have to take liquid kid tylenol? I took liquid kid tylenol today just to be safe, but man it takes a lot to equal an adult dose, and I couldn't find any adult strength liquid acetominophen. (sp?) related to that -- my discharge instructions say I can't take ibuprofen anymore. I thought that was one of the sleeve benefits?? They said it would be too hard on the sleeve. it is just temporary? And other more urgent question, how pink/puffy do you let a lap site get before you call? I definitely have one that is a bit irritated, but not a ton. And i have an appt tomorrow. Can i hold off?.
  10. Ok, did they tell you that this would resolve over time? I am going to ask about it at my 1 week appt tomorrow. Thanks!
  11. Nice to meet you, and glad to hear this worked for you!
  12. Holy crap.1st day on full liquid. @drinkclick mocha 4breakfast..so good. Oh, but it has caffeine. Hmmmm...but soooo good.

    The Slimes On Clear Liquids?

Tina, I am glad you are going to see the doctor. It sounds more like dysphagia, which I developed a couple of months pre-op. A feeling that there is a lump o something there, that you just can't swallow down, called "globus sensation". I had that preop. It was reflux related. Were you prescribed a PPI post-op? I've been on mine for a while, and that worked like a charm for me and i havent had that feeling since i started the really good prescription strength one. You said it was specific to Clear liquids though...are you approved for full liquids yet, is it different if you have full liquids?
  14. Thanks much! I did have jr chewable tylenol around for the kids, it still takes a lot (an adult extra strength dose is 1000 mg, and those are 160 a piece, so it takes six! But that way beats 6 tsps of that really thick gunky kid liquid. <shiver> Bleah. Good about the pink and puffy. Its what I was thinking, but the change is what is most interesting, it was my best lap site and this developed in the last day. So I am going to keep an eye on it. One thing, this is the site that is highest, and I just got to thinking, I took the bandages off yesterday, because I am allergic to the tape around the edges and the doc in hospital had said I didn't really need them unless I wanted to keep from feeling the staples. The tape is making me insanely itchy. So the one that is getting pink/puffy is my highest up, and um....I think its getting irritated from my bra hang down....LOL. so I put a telfa pad back on just that one. Hopefully that will help, and I'll see the surgeon's PA tomorrow. Oh, one other thing, did anyone who DID NOT have high blood pressure pre-op, get it post-op? Mine is running high post op, since the hospital and now at home. This happened to me after my last c-section, but they called that pre-eclampsia after delivery, I'm not sure what is going on now.
  15. My favorite soup is PF Changs Hot and Sour Soup. Low fat, low carb, 5 g of Protein in a serving, and if you ask and explain to them, they will blend it. I asked the Nut about it in the hospital and she said it would be fine if it was smooth. Was my first full liquid lunch today. i was full after half a cup. See attached list of ideas from my doc. YMMV, please listen to your own doc's advice, but maybe here are some ideas.
  16. I was so glad i had read someone elses' thread about this, because I was prepared for it, just in case, and it happened. I wasn't "due" until the 31st, but she arrived on christmas eve (merry christmas!) 3 days after surgery. It was lighter than normal and is done now, and i almost wonder if due to the stress, this would be categorized as "breakthrough" bleeding rather than a full fledged period, and that it would be reasonable to expect another period in a couple of weeks. Check with gyno, but I think it might be within normal range.
  17. i just had surgery last week, and I am the mom of 4. 13, 11, 4 and 2. Granted the older two help some, but, well, they add their own brand of stress because they fight between the two of them a lot. I had hubby take off two weeks. I'm a week out now, and its been extremely helpful. Today is the day I'd say I rounded the corner, but even so, have to take naps. i was in the hospital two days and had to fight to get to stay there two days because I was doing quite well, but they let me stay. Do yourself a favor and stay in the hospital as long as they will allow. Yes, they wake you up, yada yada, but you can focus on YOUR recovery, rather than having little ones tugging on you wanting YOU to take care of them. we've had the littlest ones still going to daycare even though we are home. Helps us both, so hubby can get stuff done around the house.
  18. Glad you posted this, I'm not having any problems getting these clears down either, and today, in fact, I could drink my way through my clear Protein supplements, etc, quite quickly, so I hope its ok. I have been having same thoughts as you....did the doc really do it? Or did he just fix the hernia and call it good...LOL. I start with full liquids tomorrow, we'll see if its any different then.

    One Week Post Op

Thanks for posting this - super scary about your blood pressure complications. Take care. I am amazed you're allowed to eat anything slightly real yet, I am STILL on Clear liquids, tomorrow I graduate to full liquids and I can't wait. Take care and best of luck with this journey...I'll be right with ya.
  21. Hi guys, looking to start talking more about the upcoming surgery. As I mentioned in the december sleevers thread in pre-op, or I think I did anyway I am approved and will get my date tomorrow when the person who does scheduling is back in the office. I am hoping for 12/21 or 12/22. I wonder if we could share some basics about ourselves, apart from our major shared topic of vsg? :) My name is Julie, I am 38, mom of 4 kids, I work in high tech from my home most of the time, and travel fairly regularly, though it is quiet now and probably will be through the holiday. My hobbies include knitting and crochet, and for many years I made glass beads, but when I had little kids again, I stopped because there was no time and it was hard to setup a safe way to do it! I will again some day. I love it. I've been overweight most of my adult life, started to climb after I got married. Most people think I gained weight from my kids but my big climb came pre-kids, actually. I was probably 230 when I got pg with my first. I am working on emotional eating issues in advance of the surgery of course....the program I am using online is at shrinkyourself.com... kind of an online process for cognitive behavioral therapy for overeating. its interesting. I am tracking my eating...was using weightwatchers for quite a while, but I just let my subscription lapse because I am trying to track Protein and carbs now more than points. So switching to something else. Do you have a favorite? I have several, myfitnesspal, sparkpeople and lose it, but can't decide on which one to use. I am using a fitbit for tracking my activity/movement. I've purchased and tried some different Proteins and have ordered some Multivitamins to try different ones....I've also purchased a bunch of small dishes to fit my new tiny portions. Hard to fathom eating portions that small at this point. Okay, enough rambling, who is next?

    December sleevers!

Hey a question, as we are now settling in, instead of one mondo thread, could we maybe do a checkin thread per week or something? We could start our first one next week with the new year? Maybe have one for a special challenge too? Soon our last round of sleevers will join us on the bench, might be fun to do some challenges as soon as everyone is past the immediate post op Owie time? Hey, do you guys recall long you were told to keep using the breathing thing and doing the foot circles and flexes?

    Blog Anyone?

I blog -- I have a regular blog, but I have one I started a few months ago solely for WLS -- it is losermama.com. I'll check out you guys blogs on here too.
  25. I am having the same problem. Oddly, I liked isopure pre-op and of course, being a dummy, bought two cases. Now, post op, I can barely stand it, and have two cases of it. I DID NOT like nectar pre-op, and so didn't buy any, and tried fuzzy navel and roadside lemonade stand today, and liked those, so picked up a fuzzy navel today. I am still on Clear liquids, can start full liquids on Wednesday and will be thrilled to start using milk, greek yogurt, regular yogurt, etc to help augment the Protein. A note on the protein bullets. I also bought a case of those and my nutritionist in the hospital told me not to use them . She said, a while back everyone though they were the perfect thing, but the kind of protein they have will not be well-absorbed by the body unless the body is also taking in some kind of animal based protein (I hope I am remembering that right) and she also said what a prior poster said, that the body can only handle so much protein at a time. So now I have almost 2 cases of isopure and a box of New whey that i wish I could return Boo!
