  1. I was banded yesterday the 12 th. I am so wiped out, a little nauseous and I've had a headache all day. Im having a hard time getting fluids in The gas isn't bad though. Is this all normal? I didn't expect to feel this crappy. But at least I am now in Band land!

    Hi

I don't have RA, but I do suffer from osteo-arthritis in my knees, which is a direct result of my weight. So, I would think that even though your disease Is auto- immune, it would still benefit you greatly to take the stress off of your knees, hips, thighs. Have you spoken to your rheumatologist or a bariatric surgeon yet? My surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday, the 12 th, and I am looking forward to feeling better with the weight off of my poor knees. They've taken a beating for 20 years. Lol. Good luck to you. Do your research and I'm sure you'll come up with the right decision for you.

    should i be concerned

If you have a history of reflux or hiatal hernia, they might want you to see a GI doc for an endoscopy. Good luck!

    October Bandsters!!!

Soccermom, I'm glad you got some relief finally. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing now. I will be banded the 12 th and I'm getting very excited. Let us all know how you are doing.
  12. Kali216, I am on the 12 th too! Where are you having your surgery?
  13. Being banded in 4 days! I can't wait to share a success story like all of you. You are so inspiring! It's keeping me going on this liquid preop diet.

    Pre surgey

My blue cross plan has no pre requirements, but I had to meet with the nurse practitioner, dietician, and psychologist. Met with surgeon twice and got my surgery date , which is 10/12. So, it was two months total from first meeting to banding date. I'm on day 11 pre op liquids. In home stretch. Good luck to you!
  15. My banding is in 5 days so here goes. Ditto for weighing less than my husband Wearing jeans with an awesome belt Being comfortable in tee shirts again. Getting off my cholesterol med Being small enough that my family wants to buy me clothes for my birthday instead of earrings, candles, a throw blanket Going on vacation feeling totally pumped because I have all kinds of skinny clothes to wear And lastly, just being able to leave my house feeling un self conscious about my size Arlene on the north shore
  16. I am day 8 on liquids pre op. I have 3 carnation sf instant breakfasts and I can have sf jello, sf Popsicles, tomato soup ( but not every day), sf pudding or yogurt once a day, broth, crystal lite. I feel very low energy. And i am very gassy, even using lactaid milk. Does anyone else feel this way? I know that everyone's pre-op diets are different. This one is pretty strict but I'm sticking with it.
  17. Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the great advice!
  18. Thank you for your reply. My surgeon's guidelines specify no sugar added Carnation instant breakfast which only gives me 13 grams per drink or about 40 for the day. I agree with you. It's too low. I only have 5 days to go! I actually ate 2 scrambled eggs today because I was so hungry. It felt so good and I'm sure I didnt hurt my pre op diet.
