God had meant for you to be upside down, you'd have been born with feet on your head! Love it!
  2. I like your answer. I was thinking about what I would be eating once my post op diet is over and I came to the same conclusion as you. I have had many, many years of dieting and I am through with that. I plan on eating sensibly and exercising but if I want a treat or full fat cheese or whatever, I plan on eating it. Just not in the huge quantities that I used to. Portion control has always been my biggest problem. With the band I am hoping it will take smaller portions for me to be satisfied.

100Lbs Reached Today At Doc Visit!

    that is awesome aghealthy!
  4. I am self pay so I picked my date. Although it took me a whole year from my consultation to decide that I wanted the lap band.
  5. Wow knknosmom, wish I could eat all that! My pre op diet consists of 3 Protein shakes a day plus an extra 225 calories of low glycemic veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, asparagus.) No fish, tuna pork or turkey or any other fish or meat. I am on day 6 and I have to say this is the first day I havent felt like I am starving to death. Hang in there, it will get better and will all be worth it in the end!
  6. I know that the lap band is funded in Alberta but there is a long waiting list. I googled the bmi requirements for lap band in Ontario and those are the numbers that were stated. Wildrose1966 were you banded in Ontario at SWLC? That is where I am being banded next week.

    Starting Mushys Today

After pureed foods I will go to soft foods. Is this what you would call mushies? For example at this stage I can eat steamed fish, steamed chicken, boiled broccoli or cauliflower , bean salads, cottage cheese, mashed bananas, soft boiled eggs, canned fruit, applesauce, sugar free pudding. All the pureed and soft foods sound so good because I am on my pre op diet and cant have any of it..lol

    Hello From The New Guy

Welcome! Lots of great info on this site.
  10. One thing bothers me about this original post. I thought the guidelines in Ontario for lap band surgery were bmi of 35 or 30 if there are special circumstances. I also read it is different in each province. Pretty sure I read this on a government site when I was researching wls. I also think I was told that last year by my surgeon when I went for my consultation. I think if I only had a 60 lbs or less to lose I would go with the gastric balloon.

    My Wife's Surgery Day Hell!!!

OMG what a horrible thing to go through. I hope you wife is doing better now. If it was my husband I would be looking for answers. Making phone calls and writing letters to get to the bottom of it . Keep us updated on your wife's progress with the band. It is done and she can start looking forward to a new healthy life.

    How Would You Describe It?

Thank you so much for asking this question and for the great answers. I am on my pre op diet and am feeling a little sorry for myself right now. My diet right now is pretty strict, 3 shakes a day and an extra 225 calories of certain veggies per day. Really doesnt fill me up and I constantly feel hungry. I know there is light at the end of this tunnel but it feels like I will never get there...lol I was wondering if it would all be worth it and then I found this thread. Gives me hope!
  16. I was replying to another post and glanced down at my ticker. I saw that I will be banded in 11 days and I started getting butterflies in my tummy. After a year of trying to decide if I wanted wls I realized tonight that it is actually going to happen!
  17. Cant figure out how to do it. Every time I try it returns me to the main forum page

    Follow Up Care

One of my priorities when choosing my surgeon was aftercare. I chose SWLC because they have a great reputation for aftercare.
  20. It is the end of day 3 of pre op diet and boy was I tempted today. I just got through the day as best I could on my shakes and veggies with no cheating. Have a horrible headache though. Tomorrow is Canadian Thanksgiving and I think it will be hard on me but I know that if I cant get the band because I cheated - that would be much worse. I am looking forward to Christmas dinner..lol. Just keep your eye on the prize. It will all be worth it in the end. You can do this!
