What Is The Craziest Thing You've Blended In Order To Eat During Mushee Phase?
ereneeh replied to windycitymom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The family ordered pizza while I was on the mushies stage and I just took a bite, chewed it up and spit it out. Took the craving away and satisfied me. -
1 cup of chicken enchilada soup. Leftovers from Thursday.

I soo understand where you're at. Only my family and my best friend knew beforehand but my husband is the pastor of a small church. So, everybody knows way to much about everyone. So, when I ate like a bird at our Thanksgiving potluck and at every Sunday lunch, you can't quite keep that a secret. Especially after how I ate before the surgery. So, my church family knows but they are all very supportive.

Irrational Fear That This Won't Work!
ereneeh replied to Changetome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months out and 72 lbs down. I think the same thing sometimes, but then I put food on my plate and eat 6-7 bites and I'm full. Then I remember, woo hoo, it's still working. Hang in there. -
Lightweights..how Long Before You Really Saw A Big Change?
ereneeh replied to Sleeved&Hopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please realize that every body shape is different. If I looked at all these size 2 and 4 people I would definately be depressed. I am 5'6" and was 240 on surgery day and wore an 18W. I have lost 72 lbs and am just now wearing a size 14. Even when I was 20 years old and weighed 135, I wore a size 11. I have 28 lbs to go until my goal weight and I don't know if I will ever be a size 2, 4, or 6. I may end up a size 10 or 12, but I am happy with that. Be content with how you feel in your body. To me, size 14 looks so small right now. -

5 1/2 Weeks Post Op Having Some Issues!
ereneeh replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long since your surgery? I had this problem early on (3-4 weeks) and the Dr. said it was esophogal (sp?) spasms. One of the prescriptions they gave me was for this specifically but I wasn't taking it because I hate taking medicine. As soon as I took the pills for a couple of days, it quit. Could be that's what's happening. Check with your Dr. -

Sleeved 3/8 Please Help
ereneeh replied to MSMONIK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to take tiny sips. Too big of sip makes it hurt. I promise it will get better. My surgery report says, "...used a single interrupted 0 Ethibond suture in a figure-of-eight pattern." Probably common with a hernia repair. -
Woo hoo!! Welcome to the world of the other side.

Sleeved 3/8 Please Help
ereneeh replied to MSMONIK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. found a hiatal hernia and had to do a repair during my VSG. I would get a pain when I drank after surgery. I would have to press on my breatbone until the pain went away. Called the Dr. and they said, "Oh, that's because we put a stitch at the top of the stomach because of the hernia repair. That will go away once that heals." The pain went away after a few weeks. Hope this helps. -
To Barf, Or Not To Barf?... That Is The Question.
ereneeh replied to sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"The foam" is what we call slime. I had to look it up on VSGtalk to make sure nothing was wrong. If you eat too much, which isn't saying much, your stomach doesn't have room for the stomach juices that rush to break down your food. So, it just comes up. You have to eat SLOOOOOW. I take 30-40 min. to eat. But, if you take 1 bite too many, there just isn't room. I just use a cup and spit. I know TMI, but just being real. It will pass after 1/2 hr. Much easier than hurting. To me, it's not the same as throwing up, it is sliming! Hope this helps. -
Need Physician Referral Santa Barbara-LA Area
ereneeh replied to sbsheila's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome SBSheila, I live in Morro Bay and I chose Dr. Cirangle at http://www.lapsf.com/dr-cirangle-your-bariatric-doctor-for-weight-loss-surgery.php. He is in SF and has done over 1700 VSG's. He sees patients in Templeton, 20 min. from my home. Well worth it not to have to drive. -
5 1/2 Weeks Post Op Having Some Issues!
ereneeh replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months out and I still get the slimes. Not as often but if I take 1 bite too many, it will happen. Funny thing, if I eat too much, my nose starts running. And a couple of times I got the sneezes. You have to remember to take 1 less bite. Tricky thing but makes you think before taking that last bite that you shouldn't. -
Pre Surgery Question...
ereneeh replied to bratvp63's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only had 2 day liquid diet, and no leak test. Stayed 2 days because I was the last surgery of the day and because of a hernia repair did not get to my room until midnight. Dr. will see how you are doing and might keep you an extra day. Don't know about a catheter and sometimes ignorance is bliss. Blessings to you as you begin this journey. Thankfully I never have to go back. -

188 lbs. 62 lbs lost, 38 to go. And next to me is my sweet little "Indy" -
Lyra, No, our hair doesn't come out in chunks, just thinning. When I lost my hair from other weight loss years ago, the most noticable thing was how thin my ponytail was. I have pretty thick hair and could really tell a difference when I put it in a ponytail. It grew back but so did the weight. Now after losing 62 lbs so far so good. I have lost a little bit, but not as bad as last time.

This is the hardest part about learning your sleeve's limit. You have to take 1 less bite than makes you full. The problem is your brain doesn't realize it for 15-20 min. I have learned to take a bite, put my fork down and wait between bites.

Congratulations. Awesome job. We share the same goal. Looking forward to getting there with you. -
This is true. I take a 5000 mcg capsule of Biotin every day. Bought it at Wal Mart. Was only about $5 for 120 capsules. I lost 60 lbs 10 years ago taking Phen/Topamax pills and my hair fell out then. Don't want it to happen again.

Daily Sleeve Schedule
ereneeh replied to dominique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha Ha!. Don't mean to laugh, but you perfectly described a typical day in my life too. But, I don't worry about my supps and meds and take everything at night with my water, 1/2 hour after I eat of course.
