Thanks Debbie! I hope all goes well for you as well!! My area of vermont only got a lot of rain and winds but that day my daughter and i happened to be traveling from syracuse, ny so it was a very long trip because there was so much wind and rain and detours from flooded roads it sucked pretty much lol but we made it home safe and that's what matters -

Hi everyone, I'm Haley, 29 from Vermont (52 BMI). I've spent the last few weeks going on different message boards and web sites being a sponge and soaking in information. I've made different lists and started a "questions to ask" list because I'll probably be asked a lot from the different people I'll meet with "do you have any questions?" I can never think of anything on the spot so I'm preparing myself lol I meet with my PCP in 2 weeks and extremely nervous because she never gets my frustrations with my weight. If she doesn't want to refer me (needed for insurance) then I'd have to switch docs and I'd rather not. I've heard my hopefully soon to be surgeon makes you lose x amount of weight. I hope it's not a lot it took me 5 months to lose 10 lbs. I have a support system, my mom, daughter, a couple friends and my long distance boyfriend. I'm really nervous that I'm getting my hopes up only to not be able to do it for whatever reason and then I'm back to square one. You all seem like a happy and supportive group and I would love to join you all -

Thanks! Actually I don't know if I have a choice in surgeons I've done a couple of searches and I've only found 1 in the area. I currently have state insurance and I don't know if they would cover an out of state surgeon. I've read really good things about the one in my area. -

Hi Stephanie, I'm new too. That's great that you're on the path, on still on the grass but I think I'll be on the path soon lol Haley -
Great! I am happy to find people from Vermont, especially since I'll probably have Dr. Forgione. I'm just starting the process I meet with my PCP in 2 weeks. According to my insurance there aren't "hoops" per say but the Dr. might so I guess I'll find out. Is there anything you guys recommend I do before my PCP appt? A little intro, I'm 29, full time student (senior in college) and a full time single mom (my daughter will be 8 on friday). I look forward to the day I can go on amusement park rides with her. Also her classmates give her a hard time because I'm so overweight, that just breaks my heart. I look forward to talking with you mitamia and all the other Vermonters

How much weight do you expect to lose in your 1st month?
Haley 8203 replied to Mangofish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this really doesn't involve lb surgery but i had to post about people thinking ok you have x and so you'll magically drop tons of weight. 2 years ago when I was diagnosed hypothyroid and had surgery to remove half of it and went on medication, my stepmom being ignorant said in front of my dad (who's highly critical of my weight) "Oh great you're going to be so skinny" ya, I've gained 30lbs since, so needless to say those 2 are going to be in the dark if I am approved for surgery. -
