  1. see my comment on my profile to see how i am, you will do great, im doing killer awesome. i can get all my fluids in no problem. walk your ass off in the hospital, at least 3 times the day of your operation, trust me its worth it.

  2. dude im doing great man! 4 days post op, pain is amost gone, i can slam 96 oz of protein before 5 pm! just did it today, had to go out and drive, i know not a good idea but ****, easy as pie! made a huge 10 oz protein shake before i left with some ice, by the time i got done i had crushed it. you will do fine man, biggest things FORCE yourself to walk a ton in the hosptial, as much as you can!

  3. i saw him today actually, he placed his hands on it and check it, its just swelling from a hemotoma from when they had to force the opening up larger by prying on it some, it will reduce in size, but the reason why its bothering me so much is because it was forced open by hand and not cut...kinda wish they would have just opened it a bit more with a scapel or something i really have nothing to complain about, i have been running around all day out the house, ive already consumed 94 grams of protein! all from my shakes, now i can just pick and choose what to enjoy for the evening. its been so smooth.. i took a bunch of...items last night and slept a good 10 hours.. woke u, was able to get out of bed on my own, and i am just now getting sore... 4 days post op, it was NOT a smart thing to do ( but i was pain med free) but i even felt well enough to do some driving and pick up a few things, go to the post office. if anyone is wondering if they should sleeve or not, don't worry, if you can have this kind of recovery and be outside running around 4 days out of the hospital, i was a type 2 diabetic before the operation...on metformin,, blood sugar was running between 177 and 210.. i can report 4 days post op it has been between 130 and 107! im off all diabetes meds, my bp was 130/86 a little while ago...no bp meds today either!. i check it again tonight, maybe they are gone too! thanks for the love guys, your hear for me, and im hear for everyone else. -Mike

    QUESTIONS ABOUT GAS

im so sorry your having such a hard time, its likely the swelling around your stomach, my doc ordered me reglan and all kinds of iv medications for the swelling and acid and everything while i was in the hospital, i think it really helped post op. i am having very little issues getting in my protein. matter of fact i can drink a 11 Fluid oz carton of atkins advantage Protein shake in about 15-20 minutes. its different for everyone, it so change for me in the future as well! so just take your time, push your fluid intake, concentrate on hydration first then your protein!
  7. honestly ive have just been keeping the sites clean, and open to the air. fresh air is great for these closed incisions and as a bonus no reaction to the adhesive. i had a reaction in the hospital and it appears to be a burn!
  8. im 3 days post op and while i dont have any real hunger, i do have some serious sounds coming out of me, one just happened and it sounded like a toilet gurgling lol. the pain is much more bearable today and i havent had any pain meds yet. i take previcid otc and works well to control any acid, but i havent had any reflux since the operation, but im not willing to risk the healing process to stop taking my proton pump inhibitor. it really is a wild ride i just wish i could sleep on something other then my back.
  9. so this is it! about ready to hit the bed soon. operation is 7:00 am in the morning, 5:30 i got to be at the hospital. whew! what a day emotionally. i thankfully didnt have to do a pre-op diet execpt for today which was all Clear liquids only...its sucked today, but even on just liquids, blood sugar in the 170's (im 30 years old guys...im so glad im getting sleeved!!!) i didnt have a food funeral this week, but i ate some tasty things, and finished it off last night with a nice stake and salid.. ill be missing those things i guess. kind of emotional tonight actually. im not the typical fuzzy guy, im 6'3 306 pounds, im a merchant marine by trade, so i can throw out the hard core tuff guy act... i could cry. i think im scared im going to miss not so much eating, but just some of the things that i enjoyed, and maybe enjoyed too much lol! No matter why we are the way we are, once you are sleeved or about to be sleeved you are part of a new family. im scared about a leak, and hemorrhaging during the operation, also concerned about post surgical infection. im a pretty big worrywart. can anyone tell me what to expect? my surgion is a total pro Dr. Terricina in newport news va...totally trust him. I guess im scared is all. im going to be a different person now, and im leaving behind this old friend of mine, while he hasn't been all that good to me health wise, he was still a friend. thanks everyone.... -Mke
  10. hey everyone! got out of the hospital yesterday, procedure went well, no complications, pretty enlarged liver but that will get better with the weight loss... of course the gas pains, how horrible! i forced myself to walk a few hours after the operation a crap ton, all over the floor i walked, a total of 3 times. i started out with gas pains in my shoulders and chest, but by the time i came home just internal GI gas. i have had a very rough time with the incision sites, mainly the one where they had to "pry" it open manually to get the stomach out, my Phy. Assist. that works with my doctor during the operations commented that my stomach looked like a dead pig when they took it out, lol! had a good laugh from that. i got about 8 oz of Protein down in about a hour or two, and have had some Water and other things today, taking the pain med pills, and am going to take my Vitamins and such later. any ideas or tips? whats the bet way to tell if i getting fluids in well? i kinda feel like i dont have a whole lot of restriction, but im not going to press my luck either, i fear vomiting and getting sick.. but i am blessed so far. not hungry at all i hope it stays like this thanks guys! -Mike
  11. yeah im going to see if my wonderful wife can get me some gas-x tomorrow. its like sitting right at the end but i cant get it to come out! its aggravating! things have been getting weirder and wierder all day/night. i was just able to drink an entire 11 oz atkins advantage Protein shake in like..15-20 minutes. no pain, just flowed right in.. no hunger guys, but this level of restriction..is it good? again, no hunger. so i am just trying to reach my protein goals for the day, which i did.. took the multi-vitia as well.
  12. LOL yeah i told my wife about that today, im having a atkins advantage shake right now, 15 grams protein...its kinda wierd....i have restriction...but i dont! as long as im sipping, i can finish whatever i want with really no issues. i still have that damn gas tho! not sound give out TMI but i cant pass it at that end! i even go as far as to sit on the tolet and try but it seems to only want to show its face when im sitting on the couch or laying down! anyone else have issues like that??
  13. i just met my Fluid goals of the day ( thank you propel grape ) im going to use the rest of the time to push some more Protein, but so far, good first day on my own. thanks for the support fellas ( and ladies )
  14. im 3 days post op and im hunger free. no desire to eat no turned off from the Protein drinks eather, so i am blessed. i am taking regular previcid capsules and other pills without any issues. hopefully this continues good luck you you!
  15. im just waiting to be taken to the or. i thank all of you for the support. so far i have been given a anti fungal oral liquid to prevent a fungal infection, a iv dose of a anti acid medication and a injection in my stomach to prevent blood clots. met with the doctor who is putting me to sleep and will see my main doctor soon. i little scared but they are old hands with this procedure so i should be fine. next stop land of no remember, and hopefully a easy recovery room peroid. if i feel better this afternoon ill post a update. -mike

  18. Hello everyone! My name is mike, im 30 years old (31 next month...), living in the Hampton Roads area of Va, and i am less then a week out from getting sleeved! I am married with a wife of 5 years and a 3 year old son. I work as a merchant marine, and am getting sleeved because not only am i overweight ( 6 foot 3, 306 pounds), but i have type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and have a fatty liver/elevated liver enzymes. I have tried for years to loose weight, but just cant seem to keep it off. diets don't seem to keep it off, and soon after loosing weight, i would yo-yo and regain it. my personal take on the situation, and my road up until now has been kinda strange. the only things i have had to do to get approved was a 3 month nutritional guidance, which consisted of 3 visits with a nutrition Councillor, a psy. evaluation and that's pretty much it. I have federal blue cross and blue shield of VA, and they approved the procedure no problems. i have only been told to discontinue caffeine, and that's it. no pre-op diet ( almost feel like i missed something big...but was never told anything...scarred to say somthing now! lol!) I want to go liquid Protein for the last few days, but i want not advised or instructed to do anything. hope he doesn't have to beat my liver up too much to work around it. i have the big pre-op class tomorrow, the wife is coming with me and in the afternoon i meet with the doctor (DR. Terricina in Newport News) to go over the operation plan for Thursday. I am personally worried about issues such at leaks and infections and such, but im hopeful it will go well... any adivice or help you folks can give me now would be wonderful, and i hope i can rely and contribute to the community in the coming days, weeks and months. thanks! -Mike
  19. thanks bro. really. met with my doc today for the pre-op appt and nut. class. i get my game on thursday morning so you will beat me by one day! doc said it should glgo smooth as silk. my doctor teaches the band procedure to other docs and so far knock on wood has a 0% leak rate for sleeves. very impressed. have do a full clear diet wens. but no dietary restrictions as all before then. please keep me up to date on whats going with you post op. ill be in your shoes a few after you will. be easy. mike
