  1. Well, I have told only my niece who will be with me on surgery day 11/30/22. My husband is being banded on 11/29/11 so he will be home trying to recover and worrying because he is not with me. Us too, we have taken vacation time. Not comfortable with the nay-sayers out there.

    New

Surgery set for 11/29 & 11/30. First dr. visits in Sept., took about 10 days for insurance approval. I agree with Corrigan; about 2 months.
  4. Ok, so I tried Unjury unflavored in V8. Don't do it, had to dump it. Probably the same with tomato juice.

    dog walking

I am anxious to be able to walk with my dogs again. They are bird dogs and do not go on leads, but no way I can keep up with them or get to them if something happened. Hoping this journey will be soon coming.

    BCBS of Nebraska

Well I called our insurance co.; yes they entered my information on 10/31/11. I should figure 10 to 15 business days for their review and decision. Hurry up and wait/weight.....The story of my life.
  11. Our nurse navigator said; you have to be smoke free 6 months prior to surgery. The she said, We do a nicotine test just to be safe. WTF is a nicotine test? I have never smoked and my husband used the Chantix about 4 years ago. Maybe I look like a smoker; what does a smoker look like? Wishing you success in you journey, and hoping you can KICK the habit.
  12. Anyone know where I can buy the AA in bulk/cases ? What is the best yogurt to eat, all of it seems to have lots of carbs. Thanks

    PCP vs SURGEON

I met my surgeon first, I had a gastric bypass back in 1978, when it was all still new. He needed to do an E-scope to make sure the band would be the best choice. I asked about a revision for the bypass, he indicated he always does the band on previous bypass patients. Don't get me wrong the bypass worked well until 7 years ago when we lost our son. Food food food, reaching for comfort. If I would have been a drinker I would have been in treatment 6 years ago. Life is full of what ifs.....and sweet memories.
  15. Thanks for the info on the yogurt, I did find the AA at Vitamin Shoppe 15/pack for $16. Also picked up some banana cream muscle milk powder. All MM powder 19.99 for the tub while on sale. They have a cooler with singles of all their protein drinks, so you can try before you by a 4pack.
  16. Finally the pre-approvals letters went to BCBS of NE. on Tuesday 10/25. Not in their data yet, but will be checking again on Monday.

    SIZE 14

    way to go, congrats
  18. When I met with the nutritionist she suggested to start following a low carb diet asap. Found a book; Carb addicts diet. Been following it and have lost 9.5 pounds since 10/13. Not going hungry by any means, hope this will have the sugar/salt cravings gone by pre op diet. Today was a good day.
  19. I was in an out in less than 1.5 hours. Only directions they gave me was not to sign any legal documents, as the IV med messes with your memory. Good reason to take the day off. No problems, no pain.
  20. I want to RIDE my Harley all the way to the Sturgis Bike Rally. No more trailers, ride the 425 miles with the wind in my face.
  21. Our nurse navigator said, anywhere from a week to 30 days. Mine and my hubby's was sent to BCBS of Nebraska on Monday. Just want to get in an out before we have a new deductible.

What are you guys eating for protein?

Just received an email from Unjury. They now have a high pro cheese sauce. 21 grams of protein, and just a few carbs. Makes 5 table spoons for topping eggs, chili, veggies, or what ever. It is seasonal, so I am ordering it today.
  25. Same here, we are waiting for insurance approval. Our nurse navigator said, the approval could be as soon as a week or up to 30 days. Working hard on a low carb diet now to prepare for the pre-op diet. Here is to all of us, and a healthy future.
