Ok so i have a question for the ladies... I'm currently off bc but I have an appointment on the 29th to have a mirena kid put in. I am two months out and doing well with my weight loss my concern is that the our will cause the weight loss to stop or cause a gain! Has anyone had surgery then had an iud? If so what was your experience with it? Did it slow the weight loss? Was the pain of the insertion bad? I just wanted something more reliable than the pill. Thanks for your help!

Anyone Else Hate To Eat Out?
ab76307 replied to Michell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My family never cook so I eat out every weekend. I get by by just ordering off the kids menu but I still take home left overs just not as much. I have had the waitress ask if I was ok before I just answered by saying that I wasn't able to eat a whole lot. Most places that offer kids chicken tenders are usually fried but if you ask they will grill them for you. Believe it or not I can stick pretty close to my diet even eating out it just about making better choices. I hope I helped! Smiles!!! -

Almost To Tears! Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery And Hungry All The Time!
ab76307 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK so I was sleeved on Oct 20th, 2011 and I'm down 36lbs. but for the past couple weeks I am hovering around 240. Some days I'm down 0.2 pounds then some days i'm up 0.6 pounds! How can you gain weight eating 500 calories a day? The weight loss was great the first month now I feel like I'm going no where. I'm hungry ALL the time if I eat I'm hungry 1.5 hrs later. All I eat is protein I am so sick of chicken, and beef etc... I don't have any room for veggies. I usually have less than 50g of carbs my dr. reccomends less than 100g. Tonight for dinner I ahd 4 shrimp. I don't take a ppi the dr says I don't need one. I hate to think I've done all this and paid all this money for 36lbs! I still have 70lbs to go and starting to feel like I am never going to get there. Sorry to vent but I just needed somone to listen for a min. -
Has anybody tried the sunkist protein shots? How are they in taste? I have been using the pro slam fruit punch that the hospital used but im looking for a different one.

I have found them online even on eBay, but I was really hoping someone on here had tried them.

Pureed/Blenderized Foods Suggestions

Chili from Wendy's is really good in the blender. Tastes the same as it does normally, and it is fast and easy great once you go back to work! -

Well I am about six weeks out and my total cholesterol last year was nearly 250 and my triglycerides were 214, I just had labs done last week and my total cholesterol is down to 139 and my triglycerides are down to 89! I have noticed my knees don't hurt as bad as they did and I've lost 33lbs -
Well I just thought I would check in. I had my surgery on Oct 20th with Dr Weiss in Lexington Ky. The day of surgery I was 277lbs this morning I was 248lbs and I'm 5'9", that's a loss of 29lbs in a month! Woot woot! Since the beginning of this year I'm down 67lbs! I'm almost halfway there! Best of all one year ago my total cholesterol was 221 and my lipids were 214 now my total is down to 139 and my lipids are 89! I am lovin my sleeve!

I Really Thinknim Gonna Die !
ab76307 replied to needachange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel you pain. I was sleeved Oct 20th of this year. I felt yucky for about a week and a half and I slept on the recliners during that time it just helped. I used a heating pad on my shoulders for the gas pain as well as walk, walk, walk, and try to keep sipping on something. I'm out four weeks and down 27lbs I felt the same way the first week but now im 100% better, back to work and all. Now I would do it again tomorrow if I had too. Take your pain meds if you need them and keep sipping. Smiles!!! -
I also have choice plus and I had to do a six month supervised diet which I began in January of this year. I had a little hang up over the Psyc exam because of a stupid dr which cost me about two months but I was sleeved october 20th. My highest was 315 currently at 256. I've lost nearly 20 lbs in the three weeks since surgery and the wait was worth it. Good luck!

Nervous about side effects-Setting date on Monday
ab76307 replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am three weeks out and I haven't had any hair loss. I was told by my surgeon that as long as you got your protein in you wouldn't have any hair loss. It's normal to be anxious, scared and excited but even at three weeks out I am glad I did it. -
Yeah but is it normal to get them 10-20 min after I eat? I only ask because I still haven't figured out how I'm full, granted I have never gotten sick so maybe I haven't gotten there yet?

Ok so I am about a week and a half out my family has never been the cooking type they always go out to dinner. At first I was doing good cause I was on clear liquids so I was just staying home but now that I'm on to full liquids I can have soups, so I have ventured out a time or two and I find myself wanting all the food that they have and I am not even hungery! I think part of me is worried that I can't ever eat that again but I know that isn't true. I found myself in tears tonight because I couldn't eat long john silvers and I wasn't hungery! It just smelled so good! You would think I would be happy I've lost 13lbs since my surgery nine days ago!

Thanks guys! I'm trying and I see the dr on Tuesday hopefully I'll get the green light for soft foods and I won't feel so bad.

STOMACH CRAMPS SINCE SURGERY?
ab76307 replied to Torrid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now I am only a week out myself so maybe some veteran sleevers can chime in...but I get pretty bad cramps/ pains if I drink something to fast or if I take to big of drinks. Try taking a sip about every two min and see if that dosent help. -
HaHa I am one week out today so I can have soup. Prior to surgery I was very used to eating with the largest spoon in our silverware set. Now I am trying to learn how to take smaller bites so I have bought baby spoons. My family went to O Charleys tonight and I got a cup of soup which I didn't eat half of. I of course took my baby spoon to eat with and I defintantly got some strange looks from the people sitting around me while I was using my puple baby spoon!

2 Weeks Post Op and am still snacking...
ab76307 replied to pammyp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week out and trust me I have been tempted but I don't want to fail I spent way to much money on this! The pain in your chest is from either eating to big a bite or eating to fast. At one week out I am on a full liquid diet. So soup SF pudding, SF jello, broth (which I'm sick of), SF hot chocolate, SF popcicles, SF fudgecicles, and yogurt. Get rid of the junk and get back to the basics. Good Luck! -
Quick Question! (EXCITED AND NERVOUS)
ab76307 replied to Kendall Ann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Kendall Ann! I think we may have started at about the same. My highest was 315 bmi 43, before surgery I was at 277 today I was 267 and I'm 5'9" my goal is about 170. My surgery was oct 20, 2011. I also have uhc I didnt have any problems with getting approved after I met all their requirements. I was approved in about a week. If you are dying to know you can call the insurance company and ask about the status of your approval that's what I did and I knew before the surgeon's office. Congrats and I'll save you a space on the looser's bench! -
Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
ab76307 replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am Amanda, I am 28yrs old I was sleeved on Oct.20 2011 by Dr. George Weiss at Central Baptist in Lexington Kentucky. I love Dr. Weiss! He was great I stayed in the hospital two nights becasue I was in alot of pain (I'm a wimp) and he was there to check on me every day! My highest weight was 315lbs, Surgery day I was 277 today I was 270 and I'm 5'9". -
Ok so I had surgery on the 20th of this month and they also did a hernia repair, and i was so happy to come home and sleep in my own bed, but I can't. I can't get comfortable on either side all I can do is lay on my back. It hurts all the way up through my shoulders is that just gas caused I've been walking. I know I'm only a few days out but am I being a wimp? Even when I try drinking something it feels like there is gas trying to come up at the same time. Any advice?

Glad to know I'm not the only one. The recliner is where I am tonight, it is much easier to get out of than my bed.
