I was banded on 10/21. I lost a lot of weight in the begining and have not lost any for going on my 3rd week. Basically since I started eating food. I know that I have read on here that this is fairly normal. But wouldn't you lose something? Even 1 pounds a week with the way less amount of food you are taking in? My first fill in November 30, so I know that will help. Just want to make sure that this is somewhat normal. Seems odd that with taking in so much less that I am not loosing something. I should get the ok to start exercising after I see the surgeon on the 30th.
-
Thank Alex. You are too. I thought that it was pretty normal, just wanted to make sure that I was amung the norm.
-
No, I have not. I did get a call from them though that said they had run out and they were going to be sending more out on either the 20th or 29th. so you should have it next week. I cannot wait to get mine.

Thanks Leatha, You always have such good advice. Happy Thanksgiving.

I am more then likely not getting in 1200 cal a day. Breakfast - Protein shake 90 cal plus cals from fat free skim milk lunch - maybe around 300 cals Water in afternoon dinner - maybe 500 at the most When I work I drink two shakes a day. I am off this week so have to make myself eat and get food in. I have been eating no more then two small meals a day. I guess I am getting in right around 1200 a day. Just hard to make yourself eat. yesterday all I ate was a boca buger for lunch with a little cheese on it. shake for breakfast and lobster bique for dinner - it was out of the south beach diet cookbook so not too fattening. and 16 oz of water last night. I will try to start eating more. Maybe that will help. Thanks for the thoughts. The hard thing with tracking on line, I cannot do that during the day at work and am usually so busy at night. I do try to write things done, but had to remember to do it. I will start doing it.. I am sure that it will be an eye opener. Happy Turkey day.

Where do all of you find all of the information on Inamed? I have looked through the site but am not finding diet suggestions or anything about the types of bands etc..

I was told no popcorn, nuts, soda or carbonation, asparagus ( which I eat all of the time, just really cook good), celery, coconut, rhubarb, nuts, straws and spicey or fried foods. I have had just a very few of nuts in something but chewed them very very well. I ate one peice of popcorn and chew chew chew - no problem. I undertand how myself and all of the other newbees were surprised by all of your answers. But I also think that everyone has to find what they can tolorate and what they cannot.

momhappe1 replied to Kelly Ann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kelly Ann, I was banded on 10/21 and have my first fill on the same day 11/30. I am going to have it just because my weight loss have slowed down to about nothing ( no weight lose in 2 weeks) and I feel like I can eat too much. I eat about the same amount as you, which is WAY less then I used to eat. But I have to wait one more week before I can start exercising, I know with a fill and exercise I will be able to start losing again. I also need to do and MIchelle stated and start making sure that I make good food choices. I have been in to some chocolate this last week. Bad Bad girl. PMS what can you do?? good luck! -
I guess I have taken the mushie stage a little too far. I have been eating jsut about anything and everything except "hard" foods such as breads, crackers, and things like that. I have not had any trouble with foods at all. Tonight I actually ate the toppings off of one piece of pizza. I am almost 5 weeks out. I get my first fill on the 30th. I hope that I am not over doing it and stretching out my new tummy. But nothing has bothered me and no PB. Did any of you eat like this on mushie stage? Or just stay to mushie? I eat chicken ( very soft - hormel micro chicken breast with gravey - very muchie) and beef - fliet only, cut up very small an chew chew chew. I made tuna steaks, very soft, and vegetables cooked really good. My list was very short and I was told it was ok to eat eat, vegetables and cooked, soft, items. The only thing that I find now is that I am eating way more then 2 oz of food. With the weight that I have lost and the swelling going down my restriction is loosing up.
-
It has to be in the "air" I have been eating chocolate for two days. I can tell I have eaten more carbs as that is all that I want now. I just pray that all of thd food I have been eating qualifies as "mushie". It has been 4 weeks since surgery and I am eating just about everything. Except hard foods and breads. I still eat WAY less then I did before surgery, but I am ready for a fill as I eat way more then I should eat. so hard to have self control when you are hungery and something taste good. I just pray that I am not stretching out my pouch. WE will see when I go to surgeon on the 30th for first till. Good luck to everyone over the holiday's. I know that I will need it!!

You look great!! Keep up the great work. -
I am trying to get down a vanila chai and cherry smoothie this morning. I saw the nutritionist yesterday and I am NOT getting in enough food, Water or Protein. When you add anything to the Protein powder and milk it gets so think. All I added today was a few frozen cherries to try to get things in my body moving again. However it is going to take me over an hour to get this thing down. Although it is 37 grams of protein. How do you get in all of your water and protein in in one day if it fills you up so much? I had my first bit of real food last night, started on mushies. I had one ounce of chicken and not even 1/4 of a very small baked potato. I was full for 3 hours and could not get in any more water last night. How do you do it?

My port incision is very large as well. It is still very very sore and still hurts quit a bit. it is still very swallon and hard. I went back to the doc the other day as I thought that I had some infection in there, He said that it was because he had to cut down about 3 inches to get the port in good. I was worried as well. give yourself a little bit more time to heal as after 3 weeks I still hurt. Doc said it will take around 6 weeks for the swelling to go down., I could never drink slim fast without having the same problem. i had diarrhea for the first 2 weeks until I started eating Soup with a little more substance to it. then I could not go to the bathroom for almost a week. But everything is going back to normal now that I am on soft foods, Give it some time. it will all work itself out. I read about unjury Protein powder on here. It is great. i drink two shakes a day. Which gives me 40 grams of protein. Good luck to you.

My doc and nutritionist said that I should only be able to and should only be eat 1 oz of meat and 1 oz of vegetables per meal. Is this normal?? I am very happy with the weight lose. I want it to keep going, but worry about my first fill and the Holiday's. I already have planned what I will be able to eat. So hopefully that will help with your list Penni.

I am getting my first fill on November 30. This will be my first one after surgery. I have not had one yet so I do not know what to expect. I do know that I can eat too much right now. I am eating sometimes around 4 oz of food. I follow all of the other rules, but I know that I over eat. Any word of wisdom on what I should do?

Congrats. I cannot wait to have the same feeling.

smoothies are thick.. How do you get it all in?

I would not go that far, I just had some McDonald's fro breakfast. I will say that that is the first time I have ever not eaten a whole breakfast sandwhich. Let alone not even half of one and with only half of the bread part. I am not a perfect bandster by far. I have cheated and over eaten. I have a real hard time thinking of what 2 oz are. I know that I eat a lot more then that at each meal. Well lunch and dinner. I eat way too fast. I have not had a PB yet or get anything stuck in my stoma. But I know that I will be one that needs a fill at 6 weeks out. I can already tell the diffence in my hunger. I try to control it but last night I ate until I hurt. I was soooo hungry and over ate. Did not get sick, but I know that I ate too much. From what I have read on here though I will only be able to eat the 2 oz after a fill. Then my weight loss will start moving again. I lost most the week before on liquids and the first week after surgery. I did not lose anything the 2nd week and now am about 3 pounds a week. I still have a hard time getting in my Water. I am getting in 32 oz of water, plus 16 oz of milk. I try to get in a little bit more at work, but it is hard. You have done very well yourself New Hope. 180, I cannot wait to see that again I was that when I got pregnant with my daughter. -

I bought the Pacifac Chai Low Carb Vanilla at kroger's. I am not sure what stores you have where you live. But I do know that Kroger's carries it. If not ask your supermarket to get it in. I had to ask mine to get in no sugar carnation instant Breakfast. I am finally on food. Have been for a week. I drink Water when I get up Protein shake on the way to work - not too thick, I am getting this down. 1 scrambled egg or yogurt for breakfast water meat and veggie for lunch water Protein Shake on the way home from work water dinner water - if I can get it down. A lot of times after dinner I am not eat or drink anything until I go to bed. I stay full for so long with dinner This was was a little hard as mother nature called and I really wanted chocolate. I had a little and spit it out. It did not even taste good to me anymore. Gotta love that. -
I am so glad. I am a closet bandster. I told everyone at work that I was having surgery for something else. I figured that the weight lose would be slow enough that they would not think too much about it with me on a "diet". I am not embarred that I did this, I just really did not want to hear about everyone opion on it and have to explain myself. My family knows and so far that is it. I am sure after I travel with some of them and we have meals together they will "think" I did something. I work in a large office and man do people love to talk. I am glad that no one asked you how you did it and put you on the spot. You have done so great. I remember your photo when this site first went up. I remember when you went in for surgery. I am so proud of you and I feel that it is no one's business how we have done this. Frankly, we did this for ourselves and our kids. Not for the rest of the world. Congrats!!!!

I have found a Protein drink I really like. Of course I heard about it on here. unjury. Order the vanilla, chocolate and unflavored. I would think that one with 60 grams of protein in it would be horrid. And I agree with everyone above. I found a smothie that I really liked yesterday and it was not too think. 1 scoop vanilla unjury and 1 teaspoon of Pacific Chai reduced carb vanilla chai latte'. I love Chai tea so thought I would try it. It taste just like a cold vanilla chai tea latte' and only added about 10 calories and about 1 or 2 carbs ( at a guess it is - for 2 tablespoons; 50 cal, 15 carbs, 1 sugar, and 1 protein) Roro, you are right, if I take out the fruit it is much easier to get down, for right now. As long as I have something that taste good to me and it not a 1000 calories I am happy. -
If you have only asked you insurance once and were denied. All I can say is if they just do not cover the surgery at all, then go the way you are looing into, other words... keep pushing the insurance company. It took me a year to get them to do it. But they did, I just had to pay my co pay. If they do do it just say that you do not qualify, ask them why. Usually it is that you are not heavy enough and do not have a co morbid disease. This was my problem. Well I went and had a sleep study done and have sleep apnea and then after my insurance got the results from that they approved me for the surgery right away. I had also let my do know over the years all of the diets that I have been on. Thank god as this was all in my medical files and showed that I had been trying for years. Good luck to you!

Thanks, I figured that I was pretty normal. I just do not want to deprive myself of what my body needs to keep functioning. As long as everything keeps moving I will be ok. :-) -
I have a question for the experts on here. I am almost two weeks out and still on full liquids. For the first week I had the "runs" and really lost a lot of weight. I am still on full liquids, but eating thicker ones like blended potato Soup with Water added, yogurt and a few really mushy noodles with broth, so I feel full. Now the "runs" have stopped. actually it has all stopped. I have not gone #2 in two days. Is this normal when you start eating more solid foods? I am a suriver of cancer and have had part of my colon removed and usually never have this problem. Any thought? Just want to make sure that this is normal and make sure that I should not call my doc. sorry about the subject, but I know that is what we are all here for.. Info.

Thanks New Hope. I just want to make sure that I am among the norm.
