Churrascarias around here charge 40-$50 per person for dinner. The child's price is not much better. I'm as money conscious as the restaurants and cannot grin and bear full price. A good manager should find ways to accommodate people. I went to Red Lobster last night because, well i've been craving lobster and they are healthy and reasonable. I got a plate that has two lobster tails and a seafood alfredo. I asked if they could skip the Pasta and put the seafood mix over broccoli. Even though the seafood was already mixed into the pasta, they did it for me anyway. I will be back and I will also give them a stellar review. If you don't think they are paying attention, think again. I usually give good reviews, but was emailed by a restaurant explaining correction and would I give them another chance. Chain restaurants are less likely, but still. I know our surgery is not their problem, but pleasing customers for repeat business is just smart. I also get lobster to eat for Ash Wednesday and lent Friday :-) Hardly a sacrifice huh, I should do a day of nothing but Protein shakes. Okay, one fish meal or cheese meal and two Protein Shakes.

Prayinng I Can Go Home :(
Catracks replied to sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel. They kept me another day because my red cell count was low. I was so bored and sick of the hospital. Dehydration is a worry and if not fixed will just land you back into the hospital. Praying for you too. Take it easy and sip. -
Surgeon Thinks I Am Unknowingly Overeating?!?

If I fill to the rim I get sick. Too full is not a good sleeve feeling. -
3 Weeks Out 39 Pounds Down And My Jeans Are Still Tight?
Catracks replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was in the Army, my size was extra small, extra short. I was 99-100 pounds. I've heard that these days they cut them for women. One big difference between BDUs and ACUs. Ahhhhh, progress. -
LMAO! I need to go shopping. I have multi-colors, but they're still "granny panties and WAY too big.

Soooo, Anyone Else Feeling Cold Much Of The Time?
Catracks replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's got to be the calorie deficit. I must have been running on 2500 calories or more depending on the day and now I consume 500-700 a day. I'm not comfortable unless the temp is around 72. -
That's what my husband says

I would never, EVER go back to that place. I'd give them the worst review on Yelp as well.

Surgeon Thinks I Am Unknowingly Overeating?!?
Catracks replied to AJAgwu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's definitely 2-3 oz. by volume and not by weight. 2 oz = 1/4 cup, etc. There are guides online describing what servings look like. The general rule is: 3 oz of chicken or meat looks like a deck of cards, whereas 3 oz of fish looks like a checkbook. 1 oz of cheese is about a 1 inch square cube. If it's semi solid of course you just throw it in a measuring cup. The individual ones work best. -
That's how I juiced my oranges. I left all the pulp in. It's more like chewing than drinking. Thank goodness my navel oranges seem to be mostly seedless. I have an old fashioned hand reamer and I'm too lazy to fish for seeds.

How Long Were You Out Of Work

Good plan. Missing the commute for the first two weeks made my transition back to work painless. -
Ketosis, Ketogenic Diet And Seizures...
Catracks replied to Pookeyism's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no studies, but I can tell you this. Autistic children when free to choose their own diet will carb load. My cousins son lives on bread, french fries and ramen noodles. I know they have food aversions, but I guess it was much easier to let him eat. He is now a 15 year old with a 15 inch waist -- well not so bad, but close. I tried to talk my cousin into a high protein, casein and gluten free diet, but I do know what work that is. There have been many successes with this. I would imagine that Aspies would do well on this. -
I eat and drink just about anything, but am hestitant about orange juice. Not because of acid, but because the juice is so high in sugar. I had to juice all the oranges on my trees and turn them into ice cubes. I plan to drop the cubes in carbonated Water during the summer (or hopefully hot spring). If you want to try a tiny bit, use real oranges, squeeze it yourself and dilute by half. Bottled OJ is full of chemicals and stored in huge tanks.

How Much Cheese Do You Eat In A Day?
Catracks replied to Puja's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I've had that one. it is wonderful! They also have something called a Tapas Sampler, that has three different cheeses in it. They are small servings seemingly meant for us :-) I love Trader Joes. I've been going there since they dressed in pirate outfits and sold booze and batteries. There, I've dated myself. -

If You Had Sleep Apnea...
Catracks replied to LoserMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given a CPAP machine right after surgery. I tried to use it ONCE. Thankfully my husband said that I don't snore or gasp for air anymore. I sleep effortlessly through the night and awake refreshed. I may never have another sleep study done. The first one was SO miserable. I can't adjust with all those wires on me, being monitored and in a strange place. I'd do it to get the machine if I needed it, but not to get rid of it because I sort of already have. I stuffed it in the closet. -
Discomfort After Food Or Drink
Catracks replied to koriswlj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better when normal careful eating. If later on during solids you eat too much or too quickly you will have pain. The tool is there working for you and reminding you. -
I Know People Mean Well But... A Tiny Vent

What the hell does she do? follow you into the bathroom? -
I was scheduled for one night, but they made me stay another night because I was anemic. I told them I wasn't staying a third night even if the blood test came out low on the RBC. I HATE hospitals! Thankfully I didn't have to sign more forms as my RBC count went up. I almost skipped out of there, but they made me go out in a wheelchair. Sheesh! That kind of pampering I could do without. I was so bored I started play scheming on how I could get out of the building.

How Long Were You Out Of Work
Catracks replied to chyna86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off for two weeks and was glad to have them. I haven't had any time off for ages and it was like a mini-vacation. I scheduled all these little day trips that I never have time to do. I went to flea markets and animal auctions and zoos. The day I hit 2 weeks the doctor gave me a full release and I went horseback riding. Granted, I was one of the lucky ones. The day I came home from the hospital I was so happy I was just about dancing around the house. They had kept me an extra day because I was anemic. I absolutely HATE hospitals and IV lines. One woman down the hall was vomiting and screaming and moaning all night long. I felt bad for her, but it was creepy. I was set to leave, anemic or not. Thankfully the blood work came back fine. When I came back to work I asked if they could let me come in an hour earlier so I could get off earlier for a couple weeks. I wasn't fatigued, but it helped with the commute. Someone up there got SIX WEEKS? My surgeon only allowed 2. What I wouldn't do for a six week vacation. Sigh! Everyone's different. SYour mile may vary -
Heightened Hunger During Tom
Catracks replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never had pain with the cycle after the age of 12-13 or so. Mine are like clockwork and a standard 3-4 days. My daughter has painful periods though. I got the surprise early one a week after surgery. Lo and behold: 28 days later on the mark. Like Holly, I was always hungry so this is a new thing. I better look up good foods to eat during TOM before I have a carb binge (as much as the sleeve will allow). What I really wanted was chocolate so I should have had the SF pudding that was in the fridge. -
Sorry if TMI. I'm having the period from hell. I'm surprised that I'm not anemic. Last night I had to eat another small meal - or felt like I really needed it. I forgot to take my Iron that day. I will take them all today. Has anybody else had this happen?

First Day With Eggs
Catracks replied to Sleeved&Hopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder what it is about eggs. They're so soft. I have 3 hens and would be heartbroken if I couldn't do eggs. They lay x-Large green shelled ones that are the best EVER! The only things I couldn't handle so far has been ground beef and a pork chop cooked to shoe leather (can't help it, I like pork very well done). The pork goes down fine now, but is very dense so I have to keep it at a few tiny bites. Cucumbers made a fuss, but didn't show up again. It wasn't pain, but a loud, constant gurgling that kept up for half an hour. -
Do You Need To Carry Anything In Case Of Emergency?
Catracks replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the information is correct. No blind NG tubes and they need to know not to push to much fluid into it. Like I said, it doesn't come up a lot, but still ...
