He'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Beep beep! There was a thread here about orange juice and people drinking tons of it and craving it. It's just sugary carbs. That's what they used to give diabetic in insulin shock. Any fruit juice, especially orange juice should be diluted by half. Seriously, why do people HAVE to overdo things? Just have 4-6 oz and be done if you really are dying for it. Yes, I know people are asking for help, but use some common sense. I had about 2 oz of tri-tip and a couple asparagus tips. I'm stuffed! -- and no, asparagus sits fin with my sleeve. I tend to eat the more tender upper part and buy the thin kind. OP. after surgery my doctor had me on: 2 weeks Clear liquids (broth, Water, cystal light and Isopure) 2 weeks full liquids (milk, cottage cheese, creamed soups) 2 weeks pureed foods and mushy meat (refried Beans, pureed Soups, canned tuna, etc. You must get 60-90 grams of Protein. Meals are 2 oz. I can eat a lot of yogurt and Soup, but dense protein has me done/full between 2-3 oz. Eat HEALTHY protein first, then vegetables/fruits, then if ANY room some complex carbs. Even the carbs I eat must have high protein like quinoa, nuts. seeds, whole grains. Why throw away the chance you've been given. I've never eaten so well. The sleeve is prime territory with not much room. Keep the junk out of it. IMHO of course.

I have an occasional little piece of dark chocolate - NOT SF. I'm not a bypass patient so I can do a bit of sugar on occasion. I will choose SF where it doesn't make a taste difference. Gelatin, puddings and flavored syrups are SF.

I don't have a card per se. If they don't give me a break, well then out I go. I could lift my shirt so they could see the scars.

I eat so slow that I pretty much eat throughout the day. It's not like grazing because I pack my lunch in a little bento box. I have 2 oz of cottage cheese, 3 oz of meat and/or cheese, sunflower seed crackers, 2 oz of fruit and maybe a Greek yogurt dip. It seems to keep me busy at work until it's time to go home. On the weekends I'm so busy that I usually have to remind myself to eat and then grab a quick meal. Is eating through the day unhealthy in the long run?

No Real Break Between Meals - I Eat Slowly
Catracks replied to Catracks's topic in Food and Nutrition
I only get full fast on the very dense Proteins. I'm getting most of what I need in. I never thought I could thrive on 600-800 calories at day. Try Greek yogurt, ahi tuna, shrimp, salmon, hummus and other Protein dense food. I use Chobani for flavored yogurt and Fage for salad dressing and dips. Dip your meat and vegetables in Greek yogurt mixed with whatever flavorings you want - herbs, spices, blue cheese, avocado, caramelized onions, sun dried tomato, roasted red peppers, etc. I eat a lot of cheese too. It's high calorie, but at the amount I eat, WTH cares? -

I had a bit of 70-80% dark chocolate yesterday. Just a tiny bit sent me over the moon. Trader Joe's has these regional dark chocolates from Venezuela, New Guinea, etc. That is going to be one of my occasional treats I think. Dark choclate is actually good for you - not in boatloads of course -

Well ..... When on Clear Liquids, I occasionally ate mushies. When on "full liquids" I was eating regular food here and there. When I was supposed to be on mushies I was totally on solids. I DO NOT recommend this BTW. -

Actually, increasing your calories might work a little better. Seems contrary, but it's true. That's not a flame is it? -

Flame Free Friday Confessions!
Catracks replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a sip or three of liquids when I eat - Not always, but sometimes. I cannot stand being thirsty. I certainly don't chug. It's hard because since I eat so slowly, one meal blends into another. I also have a few sips of club soda mixed with fruit juice on occasion. It hasn't stalled me at all so far. I got the 3 week stall, but that is a Water retaining, glycogen issue. I have been losing about .7 pounds a day. -
One Year Ago Today I Changed The Course Of My Life

You do look fantastic. It helps that you were pretty in the before picture too, but with the lost weight ... WOW! I'm just starting and it wonderful to here from happy sleeved people. -
I found the perfect solution for the guilt of not finishing your plate. I have 4 chickens out back that will eat ANYTHING! I figure what I don't store as leftovers can go into their pretty eggs.

I had a fever of 100 degrees at my 2 week checkup. Probably had it the whole 2 weeks. Never did figure out what it was.

I'm a #2. I had about 1 oz of ice cream last weekend. Still lost 2 pounds. I'm not on a diet. People have to come off diets eventually so this is my lifestyle now. I may as well have had bypass if I can't have a bite of pie every now and then. I did this so I could eat like a normal thin person. That said, if certain foods do not agree with you or you are unable to moderate, then abstaining is the only way.

Tell Me What The Sleeve "pb" Is Like
Catracks replied to Wheetsin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's happened to me twice, but it's been a quick process. I ate one small very done pork chop way too fast. The meat was dense and it was too much. I tried to live with the stuck feeling, but then I got the nausea and salivating. I was camping at the time so I quickly walked off behind a creosote bush and let it come up. It only happened when I ate too much. All you need to do is listen to your full signals. Mine is burping noiselessly and hiccuping. I can also feel myself getting full. Sometimes it's hard to stop when the food is good, but the consequences are not nice. It doesn't hurt that much. It's just uncomfortable to me. It's my sleeve doing what it's supposed to. -

She knows :-) I won't be overweight until I hit 158. WOW! You've lost 73 pounds in less than 2 months???! -
Sometimes the mirror shows me a younger, thinner version of myself because that's the image I have in my head. The big shocker is when I see a picture of myself looking so bloated. Getting better though.

Boohoo :-( I'm Back In The 200S
Catracks replied to upwardfocusedgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself at home absolutely nekkid so the doctor's scale is going to weigh heavier. I just subtract for clothes. -
I love Old Navy, sometimes Target and definitely JCP for Levis. Where I will shop more is Tilly, American Eagle and Abercrombie. Some of these store will maybe be a little young for me (I'm 46, but a young looking 46), but these are the styles I've always worn - no, not crop tops, but denim, khaki, cargo pants and cute tops yes! One of the most horrible things about being fat is having to wear old lady clothes. I'm also going to get some Uggs and a cute pair of white Vans.

I Cheated.........
Catracks replied to JustShaunda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EXACTLY!! Especially when we are on maintenance, this advice will be important. There is no need to completely 100% deprive ourselves. When I had my surgical consult, the surgeon told me that I should have Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass because he didn't believe I could lose all the weight without malabsorbtion and threat of dumping. He also said that I would only get to about 180 pounds statistically speaking. By 3 months I will blow his statistics out of the Water I think. This does have a point. My problem was mainly volume. I never was a huge sweet eater, but when I want it, I want it. My goal was to be able to eat like a normal thin person. My husband is 5'11 and 188 pounds. It sounds like a lot, but he is lean, slim and muscled. He eats sane amounts of food and he uses little plates. When we go out, he always takes at least half home. He doesn't deprive himself of anything. He eats until satisfied. That's the way it should be. -
Im On My 37Th Day And Dont Know What To Eat
Catracks replied to hamanyq8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was eating hot sauces from very early out. I think I'm 8 weeks now. I have always had an iron stomach. Try a little and see how it goes. Some people become intolerant to some foods like eggs and milk and spicy food. It hasn't happened to me. -
