I weigh once a day. My weight only fluctuates during TOM so I don't bother weighing until that ends. I like to keep myself on track. I don't obsess. It's merely a daily habit.

It's True! I Gained Weight And Lost An Inch
Catracks posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stepped on the scale and saw that I was up two pounds. I thought: "That's impossible! I feel thinner." So I went into my closet and took out a pair of jeans that I was saving for my next size down and they fit easily. They did not fit a week and a half ago. I lost those two pounds in a couple days, but it's really weird how that works. -
I didn't know Yoplait made Greek yogurt. I get Fage and Chobani. I eat it with fruit or use it in place of sour cream for dips and dressings.

How Long Were You In The Hospital?
Catracks replied to madambones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in for two days because my RBC was low. I was leaving after that second day no matter what. I felt fine and was bored to death. I don't do well with confinement. -
Can I Have Corn? What About Coconut? Why Or Why Not?
Catracks replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gotta know! What did you dip the artichoke in? I used to dip mine in mayonnaise or butter. I've been dying for an artichoke! -
Can I Have Corn? What About Coconut? Why Or Why Not?
Catracks replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must have one huge bezoar then. I eat lot of fibrous food like corn, pineapple, celery, asparagus, etc. -
Flour tortillas are the gummiest stickiest foods around. I don't even do those and I'm way further out than you. When I do have breads I eat little tiny pieces of some whole grain thing.

Complications - Things Are Not Going Well.

Sorry about all the complications. Just sip slowly. Get a little oz. sized shot glass container and drink it every 5 minutes. Do not get dehydrated. -
Dealing With Eating With The Family And Bad Manners Since Surgery
Catracks replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
God bless you Amanda. You are in a tough place. "It is painfully obvious that when he does get upset about things that it is really just a reaction to me being upset and his upset doesn't come from his heart." Oh I know this situation VERY well. You cannot teach a 17 year old, especially when nobody sees anything wrong. -
Screw the food (although I'm sure it's wonderful). Send pictures of you and the horses. I'm SO jealous!

Dealing With Eating With The Family And Bad Manners Since Surgery
Catracks replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't go another minute in that house tolerating the lack of respect from your step-daughter. There is NO WAY I'd let that child have my food even if I was done or touch my plate. As for chucking food -- I wouldn't have walked out. I would have taken that child right out of her seat and put her in the car and taken her home. Easy for me to say I know, but this comes from some experience. When I was young, I had two teenage step children walk over me. They were pigs, I used to have to hide food and drink. For instance: if I bought a package of crackers or Cookies (I'm talking family sized), I would come back a couple hours later and it would be gone. They would more often than not leave me an empty package. They would take the largest piece of meat, pile their plate high and not give a damn about anybody else. Their father wouldn't do squat or demand that they respect me. Fast forward to today. My daughter has been taught that the man who is doing actually physical labor or any other adult gets the first choice off the platter. This doesn't always work out because my husband was raised to put everyone else before himself so he will take the piece he thinks no one will want. My daughter has also been taught that under NO circumstances do you take the last piece of ANYTHING be it a slice of pizza or a french fry. -
Question: "Oh you're not eating?" Answer: "Nope, not much." Question: "Oh, that's all you're eating?" Answer: "Yep." Why would you ever need to explain? Why would you need to make excuses to people -- especially those who are basically at the status of "co-worker."

Finally - Hit My Goal Weight 13 Months And 25 Days After Surgery
Catracks replied to massindex's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations!!! I was able to wear my husbands size 34 cargo pants, but since I'm 5'2", that ain't saying much They also drug on the ground a lot :-P -
Awwww, I blew it this weekend. Didn't lose a thing. Didn't gain at least. I was out visiting my husband in Arizona. We go to breakfast and I eat eggs, bacon and hash browns -- a miniscule amount, but still. Then I find myself on the Yavapai reservation watching a rodeo. I'm hungry. Lessee here: Mutton ribs? Nahhhhh. Mini Navaho taco? OK! For those who do not know, A Navajo taco is frybread (much like fried pizza dough) spread with chili, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and sour cream. BTW, mini to our Native American friends is the side of a medium pizza -- almost. So then we end the day in this tourist trap steakhouse and I have a salad with the best blue cheese ever. BAD CHOICE. I eat a little of that and I can't eat the ribs because I'm full on salad and blue cheese! So on Sunday I get up before church and eat a couple baby back ribs, then a couple peanuts and a cup of coffee. Breakfast of champions right? After church we go to this soda fountain I've been dying to see. BTW I recommend this place. Real soda fountains are hard to find and this one does sundaes, malts, shakes, phosphates, egg creams and ice cream sodas. The available flavor will make your head spin. Ever had a mai tai soda? How about coconut soda and chocolate caramel ice cream to make a German chocolate cake soda. I would have done it backwards with chocolate soda caramel and coconut ice cream, but I digress. http://www.yelp.com/biz/macalpines-soda-fountain-phoenix Anyway, I had a strawberry ice cream soda. I couldn't get through half the scoop and 1/4 of the soda, but I was in heaven. Add to that a couple bites of a reuben sandwich, a bite or two of potato salad and a half of a good kosher dill pickle. Before I leave on my 11 PM flight I have the last of the leftovers and more peanuts. Then I get to the airport and the only snack I could find that wasn't too bad was white cheddar popcorn. Okay folks. This is a blueprint of how NOT to eat. I should have gain a few pounds. Today I am drinking lowfat soup and eating Greek yogurt to sooth a sleeve that didn't know what hit it. No, my stomach's fine. It only SHOULD have complained more.

Since I got on solid food I have been eating most anything. Today I am eating a jumbo shrimp, a bit of crab meat and flounder, asparagus and a tiny bit of potato with Greek yogurt on top. It tastes like sour cream to me and has a lot of protein). This plus my morning cottage cheese is below 600 calories. If you like recipes and want good bariatric ones go to: Theworldaccordingtoeggface.com I still LOVE food, love to and am a total foodie. I just eat like a healthy thin person.

No hair loss yet, but I've kept my protein up since surgery. I was actually getting 80 grams in for the first two weeks after surgery (with help of the clear Isopure). Now I average around 60 - not bad, but I should be above 70. So it's Friday and Trader Joe's has this flounder stuffed with crab meat. There are 35 grams of protein in the whole serving. I'm eating half of it for lunch and half for dinner with a bit of a Greek yogurt topped baked potato. Yeah, white potato isn't the best, but as long as I stay under 40 grams of carbs I am just fine. The Greek yogurt ups the protein considerably.

Eight pounds in 2 weeks? Not impossible the way I seem to drop them these days. We shall see.

I Want To Loose Fat Of My Thighs Not My Breast
Catracks replied to sallynew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm loosing it in the boobs too. Actually everywhere. What's nice is that my bust will be in proportion to the rest of me. What I will have problems with is the extra skin. It's already becoming an issue. -
It's More Than Just Losing The Weight
Catracks replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have smoked for 30+ years. I'm sort of ambivalent about quitting. I smoke one or two cigarettes a day. Some days I don;t smoke at all. So you ask, "Why don't I just quit?" Weeeelllllllll .... I like to smoke sometimes - especially on camping trips in the desert or in the back yard at the end of the day. Every time I see one of California's non-smoking ads it makes me want to say "screw you" to the fascists who want to make it illegal. Besides, now I eat healthy and I never have really been a drinker. I will have a GOOD beer now and again. I don;t take drugs, not even an aspirin. My one last vice. Sigh. -
Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?
Catracks replied to Dizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only regret is that this surgery wasn't available to me years ago. I'm a little over two months and a week post-op Troy Lamar (Love that name LOL!) No complications. -
Surgery Wasnt By Choice!
Catracks replied to Ashley Brooke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I Googled it. This is the best description I found even though it was a pediatric case. http://www.professorsoltanzadeh.com/article/eng-maghale-27.htm I expect up until recently you were getting some food through the twisted and flip-floped stomach. Well, glad you are fixed up and we are here for you. Our surgeries were life saving as well. You will find good information here. -
I do know that the fetus gives off this hormone during pregnancy and cancer cells also give off this hormone. Elevated levels in a non-pregnant person usually means cancer. I'm not even planning to take hormone replacement therapy when I reach menopause. Too scary and too many really bad side effects. There are natural ways to help you along.
