Catracks replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone in my choir said in surprise: "You have such a beautiful face. I never noticed it before." People around her were trying to shush her, but I knew what she meant. It made my day! -

I like to walk, hike, horseback ride, kayak ... -

3 Months Out With Pics! I Can Finally See The Changes!
Catracks replied to MzPecanBrown's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yeah i can see the difference and it's only going to get better. You went natural with your hair too. I like! -
They are talking about the powder. The clear stuff is very drinkable. It's sort of like Gatorade. It does have an aftertaste at first, but mild and you get used to it. It's worth it. i haven't met many on here that manage to get in all their Protein during the first couple weeks. I did and I think it made a huge difference. Also the are 24 oz each right. That's almost all your Fluid intake too. Towards the end of the second week you will be sick to death of them, but as the guy at the GNC store said: "You gotta do what you gotta do."
-
Seriously, mine are so flexible I could press them into those fancy little cake molds they sell at William Sonoma. They literally feel like Water balloons.
-
The Isopure is available at any GNC. You can also buy it online. It's pricey but you only need 30 bottles for 2 weeks. I never felt weak or hungry on this stuff and it counts toward the 64 oz of daily liquid you need. It's this stuff: http://www.gnc.com/p...2796&cp=3703232

I will have some amount of belly apron, but I simply cannot stand the compression wear. I find it smoothering and confining. I may just have to live with whatever I get because I'm also scared of the surgery. It looks barbaric. I have to make sure I wear pants that fit. If they are a little loose, I get that pouch thing. I have a ways to go and I can stand a little pouch. Maybe I will get lucky. I has gone down quite a bit. I also have the bat flaps. Wouldn't the scars show on the upper arms? Nobody is touching my saggy boobs! Ouch. Now I can mold them into any shape i want.

I would let him read this minus the insecurities part of it. That will only put him on the defensive. Tell him about the other things. Trust as you know is an integral part of a relationship as is communication.

Suggestion For Unused Cpap Machines..
Catracks replied to fattymcfatterson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have one, you might want to ask if it's rented. My insurance rents them by month from an outside company. That's why I need another sleep test so I can turn it back in. -
This was what I did plus two weeks of full liquid pre-op diet. For my clear liquid phase I used the clear zero carb Isopure liquid. Two bottles = 80 grams of Protein. I wasn't weakened by it probably because my protein was up.

Peripheral Neuropathy
Catracks replied to Lisa Jo B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to take the gummie Vitamins. I don't think they have enough Iron if any. I was taking chewibles, these: http://www.walmart.c...-120ct/16935792 but I switched to this brand. (Bariatric Advantage). I also use their Calcium chews: http://www.nashuanut...CFSM0QgodwzoajQ Y9u can also get this stuff off Amazon. -

You may be getting enough through food, but it's a good idea to get those supplements. They are available at any Walmart, Target, GNC, etc. The B12 is especially important as you can see. We aren't as tied to these as gastric bypass patients are. They don't absorb enough nutrients to live without supplements. We can fudge on it a bit, but this stuff helps. My multi also has Biotin in it. That's supposed to help your hair grow. -
Peripheral Neuropathy
Catracks replied to Lisa Jo B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See what I mean?!!! Okay, let me dig out my paperwork. These are just the supplements: 1. Multivitamin with Iron 3x daily. Must contain 15-18 mg of iron per serving. Must contain 400 mcg of folic acid per serving. Take with meals. 2. Calcium with Vitamin D. Take 1000-1200 mg per day. Do not take at the same time as the multivitamin because calcium interferes with iron absorption. Wait 2 hours after the multi. I take 2 calcium chews per day. 3. sublingual B-12. 500 mcg daily or 1000 mcg or more twice weekly. You can also get monthly injection from your PCP or a weekly nasal spray. B12 is not absorbed through the stomach. That's why the pill goes under your tongue. 4. Protein. you need between 70-90 grams a day. 5. Water/fluids. You need at least 64 oz. a day. As a disclaimer: This is only what my surgeon told us to do. These were our instructions. As always, check with your own doctor as I am not qualified to give medical advise. Your mileage may vary. -
I was never able to tolerate the BIPAP. The sleep study was so tortuous to me that I'm afraid to get it done again -- that maybe my family is putting me on and they will try to put that mask on me again. Intellectually I know it won't happen, but I think I've developed a phobia.
-
I have not gone back in and had the sleep study again, but my family complains that they can no longer tell if I'm asleep or not because I rarely snore and if I do it is light. I also no longer gasp for air 10 times a minute. Mine was SEVERE! I cannot believe I was living like that! I was so sleep deprived that I should have been dead.

Peripheral Neuropathy

You all caused me to run and take my B12. I take 2500 mcg sublingual 3x a week. It's over the amount they said I need, but this is what I found a Wally World. I knew it was important, but reading about the consequences really shocked me. This worries me because I have come to realize that not everyone gets the same quality aftercare and information. I have a list of exactly how many nutrients I need to supplement to my diet. many folks get really vague instructions or none at all. OMG -- Google Vitamin B12 deficiency This message should be pinned. Lisa, have him check for B12 deficiency. You might need therapeutic levels ASAP. -

Breastfeeding And The Sleeve
Catracks replied to Singlemama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is the best. I can never figure out why some of the non-working moms I've seen use formula. I suppose their could have been a problem, but I think it was more what they were brought up around. My mother bottle fed my brother and I just because that was what was done in middle class America in the late 50s, early 60s. I breast fed because I was more read and less inhibited than my mother was/is. I'm also VERY lazy and could not stand the thought of warming a bottle. Hungry kid? Well into bed with you then! I also kind of hate bottles after seeing 5 year old walking around with them. Yes, seriously.
