How Many Times A Day Do You Eat
Catracks replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat a lot more solid protein that you do. Today I'm eating 4 oz of tuna and 3 oz of ground beef and one scrambled egg. I usually have a fruit and a vegetable every day. Do you always eat so much fruit? Nadz - 3 meals a day and no snacking would truly kill me. I would be over-full after meals and starving in between. It just goes to show that there is not one single formula for success. -

Just make sure you get up and walk frequently. Sitting all day is really hard on a person. i should know. My job keeps me in front of a computer all day long. -

I tried it and I had to add chili powder and cayenne to it. The beans and meat are nice, but it's so bland.

How Many Times A Day Do You Eat
Catracks replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's exactly it! Pre-Sleeve days I might go all day without eating and pack 3,000 calories into one meal and after dinner 'snack". I am not kidding. I figure now that my blood sugar is pretty steady all day long - no spikes and dips. I am 4 months out. My info and stats are at the bottom of my post. -
How Many Times A Day Do You Eat

Like Wheetsin, I feel like I eat all day. One ,eal seems to run into another. At 9:00 I had a Lipton Cup a Soup. at 10:30 I had a Greek yogurt (Lemon Chobani 0%) at 11:30 I had some watermelon at 12:30 I had some grape tomatoes and a light baby bell cheese at 2:00 I will have 2 oz of left over ribeye steak. at 4:00 I will have another 2 oz of steak' at 6:00 or 7 I will have 1 oz of some other meat and some cauliflower. This is all under 800 calories. If I ate 3 meal a day I wouldn't be able to get all the nutrients in. I just eat really, really slowly. I like it that way because it makes it so I don't get that over-full feeling of taking one bite too many unless I eat too fast once I'm home. -
I'm Craving Potato! :-(
Catracks replied to VJSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this post. Pre-Sleeve I used to stuff my face with food I only sort of likes. If it was there, I'd eat it. Now I eat things that I really like or crave. If I'm ambivalent about a particular food then I pass it by. Just get all your Protein in and enjoy a bit of potato. Eat the skin - it's good for you. -

I spent the time gathering recipes, buying supplies, reading WLS blogs and posting here a lot. I read TheworldaccordingtoEggface.com and WaningWoman.com plus a few others from beginning to present. I then planned for what I was going to do with my 3 week "vacation." I planned all kinds of mini trips to semi local and local places I never get a chance to visit because I work. Thank goodness my husband had some time off. I went to a train museum, a wildcat conservatory, a living history museum and pick your own type farm, a flea market, a livestock auction, walked along the beach and went for a horseback ride (the ride was after my two week clearance). I love to plan. Why be bored at all? I did sort of have an easy recovery though. Some do and some don't. -
New Pre-Op Transfer Addiction?
Catracks replied to bogeydog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On her advice I bought a Bento box, mini muffin pan, 1.5 cup food processor, small ice cream maker, Torani syrups in about 15 flavors, and pro Max Protein powder in chocolate and vanilla. I have also gone through every page and copied the recipes I like. She taught me that eating with the sleeve can be nutritious and fun. After her recipes I couldn't figure out why people didn't like Protein shakes. -
Yogurt for me slides right through. What I am trying to say is that I have never been able to not drink all the time. I don't have set meal times per se and I don't wait :30 before and after food to drink. Sometimes I cut back on the solids and have a Protein shake or now that summer is here, protein ice cream! I love my ice cream maker! Yes yogurt would come under that 30 minute rule. I'd never advise anyone to do what I do. My weight loss seems just peachy. I'm off a stall and back to about 1/2 pound a day weight loss. Yes, very slow eating over the course of the day seems to work for me as I really hate that full feeling. I feel in control of my eating for the first time in my life and it is good!

Question For The Ladies
Catracks replied to CJinMichigan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel 100% better too and I figured you had a good reason for your goal. I am terrified of plastics, but there is no doubt that I will need the lower stomach skin removed. I can live with the bat wings, the skin on the inside of my upper thighs and even my boobs looking like tube socks. I cannot stand the hanging stomach now and I have a little over 50 pounds to go. I'm seeing my dermatologist today on a seperate issue, but I'm going to start documenting the problems it's causing. I think you'll be great. Even after 30 pounds my BP, sugar and cholesterol all went within normal ranges. My knees felt better too. Everything is better. Thanks for the answer. i appreciate it! -
I seem to graze VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWLY then. Here's what I packed today for breakfast snack and lunch: 4 oz of ribeye steak (all visible fat trimmed). 6 oz of Greek Yogurt (blueberry Chobani) 1 baby bell cheese Handful of grape tomatoes 6 raisin rosemary crisps from Trader Joes (these are so freaking good!) 1 chicken noodle Cup a Soup Calories: 541, Fat 15.5 g, Carbs 41.8, Protein 57.4 I just eat what I want when I feel like it. What I don't eat, I will eat later for dinner or something. I'm usually spot on though. I guess I'm trying to train myself to eat until satisfied and not full. I DO NOT like the feeling of a full stomach anymore so this is why I probably eat this way - the slow grazing. Dinner will be lean meat and a veggie and still have me under 800 calories and 65-70 grams of protein.

Question For The Ladies
Catracks replied to CJinMichigan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No kidding! You are a super sleever!!! Do you have lose skin? I sure do. You say it's internal though. I did find a thread that's close to what you describe, but no answers - so it's not uncommon. http://www.steadyhea...ch_t110494.html Their guesses were bowel and muscle spasms. Just out of curiosity, are you going to readjust your goal are are you stopping at the 100. There was a thread about goals awhile back. I'm somewhere around a 34 BMI and could be happy here, but I'm going down to a 24 BMI (I think that's what it was) just because there are things I need to do before I get too old like rafting the Colorado river, hiking up Mt. Whitney, hiking Yosemite to Tuolumne Meadows, hiking 12 miles in and out of Supai in the Grand Canyon area and other things. I'm 47 BTW and I need to be in better shape than this. Man! WOW! from a BMI in to 50s to the 30s. You are an inspiration! It really is none of my business, but there seems to be a frankness about the community here that I like. -
I Think I May Have Stalled :(
Catracks replied to mrsnate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got out of a 3 week long stall and went down a size in clothing during that time. I mean one week I couldn't get into a pair of pants and the next it just slipped on easily. I had to triple check that I had the same pants. From here on in, I'm on a mission to take the stigma out of stalls. I am convinced that they are good for you. I get more compliments during stalls that I get when I'm losing a pound a day by the scale. They are going to happen and like Lissa says, your body needs to adjust and reshape. If you keep getting in your Water and Protein and sticking to the serving sizes you WILL lose the weight. -
I pack my lunch for work. I have a bento box and everything is portioned out by volume (I measure my food. I do not weigh it). Anyway, at work I eat slowly throughout the day. I just have to remember to do that at home. I have to make it habit: Measure and eat slowly. I also find that food is more satisfying when I eat it really slowly. I don't just mean chewing it slowly. I mean taking a bite of steak and then 3 minutes later a bite of cheese and then 5 minutes later another bite of steak and so on. I tend to choose foods that can be eaten cold or at room temperature. Soup has to be hot, but I do not reheat meat. Reheating destroys the flavor for me. I trim all the fat so cold meats are just fine. I cut lunch into bite sized pieces (meats, cheese, fruit) and grab a bit every now and then. My stomach loves this. The only draw back and I really do not see it so is that since it takes me about 5 hours to eat my combination Breakfast and lunch bento box, I end up sort of drinking with my meals - so to speak. My meals and Snacks just tend to run together. It hasn't seemed to hurt me any.

My husband and I will be having our marriage blessed in September. I was in the 160s and a size 14 we we got married 8 years ago. I am just getting into size 14 now and might make goal by September which is 130. I wanted to wear the same dress, but now I'm thinking it won't be possible. YAY!

How Long Before U Could Swallow Pills?
Catracks replied to CHELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had regular pills/capsules right out of the hospital. -
At 4 months, chicken is still difficult sometimes. Just this Saturday, I was so busy that I forgot to eat. 12:00 noon rolled around and my husband brought home one of those roasted chickens from costco. I stuffed down half a wing and half a leg. BIG mistake. As if that wasn't bad enough, the next day we BBQed ribeye steaks (my favorite). Now I know when I'm done. I just cut out the bone with some meat on it. I had a few bites of that and a bit of the homemade au gratin potatoes I make and DAMN! I'm full. So I took one more bite or each. You'd think I'd learn. I see how I used to be when I watch my mom. I told her about the Trader Joe's dark chocolate and offered her a bit. I just expected her to eat one of two squares. I literally turned back around and the whole bar was gone. I remember not having the control. I could just eat and eat. The idea of eating a portion of a candy bar was just silly. Most of the time I can control my portions and eat slow. The remaining ties, the sleeve does it's work and stops me by forced restriction. To the OP: Your tool is working. You will learn when to stop. I know, but sometimes we all still ignore it. The consequences are uncomfortable.

Hair Loss Solution
Catracks replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe that what we are seeing is a delayed reaction from the stress on our bodies from surgery and recovery. Sure enough, I started noticing hair loss 2 days ago -- almost 4 months to the day post surgery. It can't last forever. right? -
3.5 Mos Out & Need Advice!
Catracks replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may just be a normal stall and/or your body readjusting. I hit one at 3.5 months and am just coming out of it. Funny thing: I really did lose inches. I dropped a pant size during the "stall." You can try to shock your body out of it. but I thinks it's normal and an actually healthy part of the weight loss process. -
Beef as in steak or pot roast (not ground) is very easy on my stomach. chicken can be rough on it, but I eat it anyway. I started eating it as soon as I got the go ahead for solids at week 7. 59 pounds? I didn't hit that until month 3.

Wish I Would Have Never Done This!
Catracks replied to tyvette04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think I've ever heard of a person that ultimately regretted this surgery. To me at 4 months out, it's sometimes a pain in the butt (I can still get sick if I eat too much and/or too fast), but it's the best thing that ever happened to me ... besides my family and church. -
Hopefully Coming Out Of 3 Weeks Stall - Lost Inches
Catracks posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I knew the stall would break, but seriously? 3+ weeks? I did lose inches. Pants that I couldn't begin to fit into now fit easily. How is that physically possible? Getting all my size 14s down from the rafters. I really like some of my size 16 pants, but if a wear a size too large it make my pooch look bigger - not flattering at all. -
Trouble Getting Rid Of All My Plus Size Clothes
Catracks replied to Ellie4me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm just about to get my size 14s out. As I said in another thread, I am having a little trouble getting rid of the clothes I really like, but I must because they no longer flatter me at all. Pants that are too big show my lower stomach pooch too much. Yuck. Another reason that I'm having trouble is the second guessing. I too saved clothes and had pants from size 20 to size 6. I've since given away the 20 and 18s. I don't know why nixing the 16s is so hard. I'll do it anyway. but it's funny. I have some cargo pants, jeans and tops that I really like. Damn! Oh well. It's worth it! -
Ok ... This Is Disgusting!
Catracks replied to CCWriter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now I'm confused. I though dumping was a whole different animal than diarrhea and that sleevers didn't get dumping syndrome. How do you know if it is dumping or upset stomach? http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dumping-syndrome/DS00715/DSECTION=symptoms
