The Horrible Feeling That You Are Done
Catracks replied to Sassygirl06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Okay, I dropped a pound to my lowest weight ever of 179. I will wait until I lose 2 more pounds before I declare any stall broken. My plan is to exercise every day (not just kill myself on weekends), cut out all the sugar (I have been eating a couple coffee caramels a day) and keep the carbs under 30 grams a day. -
I called my nutritionist because I am in a stall at 4 1/2 months. The scale has been at 180 for 3 weeks! She told me to cut out the 1 oz of cheese I eat every other day. After reading that healthy fats and Protein are the way to go, I'm wondering if I shouldn't be cutting the carbs instead, I eat 30% fat, 30% carbs and 40% protein. She says that my food choices are very healthy, but I should be eating no more than 25% fat. She also doesn't think I'm only eating 800 +/- 50 calories a day. I measure carefully, read labels and enter the into into Fitday.com. I do know that I need to step up the daily exercise. I hike like a mad person on the weekends - up and down the local mountains until my muscles are pretty sore. I don't know what's right anymore. Did anyone have a stall like this? Yes, I have seen the boot camp thread, but I'm wondering if this can't be cured another way. I'd like to know what I might be doing wrong.

Thanks. I needed this. I have been stuck for 3 weeks gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. See my post on the Post-op board if interested. -
Stalled For 3 Weeks At 4.5 Months Out - Up Calories? Cut Fat? Cut Carbs? More Exercise?
Catracks replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost inches. I know that, but you'd think the actual poundage would begin to move again eventually. When I work out hard (5-6 hours of strenuous hiking), a do gain a couple pounds and then it goes away after my muscles release the Water they use during repair. The weight goes from 180 to 182 or 3 and then back down to 180 and has been doing that for the last 3 weeks. ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! -

Oh thank goodness. It does look like we are sleeve twins. I thought I was the only one with this long of a stall at only 4.5 months. I don't know what to do except to get more daily exercise and cut the carbs even deeper. I barely eat any as it is. -
Photos Of Your Removed Stomach
Catracks replied to nikki82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess that is policy (SOP, whatever), but I cannot see why taking a picture of a dead organ could cause a liability issue. I forgot to ask them to take a picture. I would have wanted an inside picture like amr got. Heck, I would want a video of the whole thing! -
12 Year Old Gastric Sleeve Patient
Catracks replied to Pookeyism's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think at 12 her growth and metabolism is still in such a flux that a growth spurt or puberty could make a difference. Also at 12, a parent could still control her diet to some extent. IMHO, I would wait until she is through growing and through puberty, but this isn't my kid. -
Is This A Problem For Anyone Else?
Catracks replied to It's all new's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same with my husband and daughter. I had to sit there and convince them that bringing home pizza was cool with me. When we go out. my husband who is a frugal eater will just say something like: "Ill just eat what you don't." I've taken to getting things I know he will like because I still can only fit in about 4 oz. by volume at a time if I'm lucky. We were out in the desert this weekend, stopped by a diner and got a killer hot turkey sandwich. I was so hungry that I attacked it and started picking after 4 hungry bites of turkey and gravy. Then he took over and couldn't finish it either. YAY! Leftovers! He says I'm a cheap date. Is that good? -
Definitely my full signal too.

I got the okay to do just about anything at my 2 week post-op appointment. -
I get the sleezy cleevage thing when I wear sports bras LOL! I think that with all the skin I will need a C cup to hold it all. Who knows. Glad It didn't get a tattoo on the ta-tas. I would look kinda funny now.

1 Year Out An Its Not Good.
Catracks replied to Skinnyagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to kick in on the diet soda. I believe carbonation is fine for most sleevers I think because all you have to do is simply burp a bit. Or stomachs to stretch over time - a bit, but this is heavily muscled stomach tissue and not gastric pouches. What diet sodas do is perhaps make you crave carbs. I'm too lazy to type the science behind that. Suffice to say that Crystal Light can do the same thing. I drink both and just make sure I reach for lean Protein. Maybe I can suggest a small amount of fruit juice (without high fructose syrup - try a good juice from Trader Joes or something) with a bit of club soda for fizz. Much healthier than Sprite Zero or Diet Coke. -

You are one gorgeous lady. Good luck on the baby making! -
I will get a panniculectomy and I want my insurance to cover it. I've started documenting my problems with a dermatologist and my PCP already. I will never get a boob job and if I ever did change my mind, I would get a reduction of the extra skin and skip the implants. As it is now, I can stuff them in a bra and they look fine. I like the post where someone called them "Ethiopianesque." They do remind me of old National Geographic magazines from the 50s. Well so be it. What gross is that flap skirt. I will go through that pain, but no one is cutting on the ta-tas. Maybe if I were going from a DDD to a B, but not a smaller D to a B. Do your boobs hang low? Do they wobble to and fro? Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow? Can you throw 'em o'er your shoulder Like a continental soldier Do your boobs hang low? Got to love my husband. He doesn't mind the skin and he didn't even mind the fat -- only that I was unhealthy.

Running and other things is just the reason I DON'T want the melons. They get in the way and a B is a decent handful

Nature's Best® Isopure Zero Carb Rtd Fruit Flavors
Catracks replied to Wheetsin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank those for 2 weeks following surgery. I swear by them. Maybe I will pick up some more for those days when I don't feel like eating much. -
Mine are sort of deflated balloons, but am I the only one here who would be happy with a B cup? Seriously, I'm 5'1" and huge boobs get in my way.

How Many Times A Day Do You Eat
Catracks replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat carbs in the form of quinoa, whole wheat or quinoa pasta, a little potato now and then with the skin and whole grain and seed crackers with high Protein stats. I also eat fruits and vegetables. I'm not a low carb fanatic or low fat either. I just try to keep the carbs and fat below 25-30% each. With all the protein, there is not much room anyway. It seems to be working for me. I'm not nearly as active. I am a weekend hiker. I want to do Mt. Whitney before these bones get too old. -

Makes more sense. I like the fillet more when it's attached to a porterhouse t-bone :-) I am truly a carnivore. -
Difference Between Mirror And Camera
Catracks replied to LadyIvy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I look better in the mirror than on film. I can't figure it out either. I'm choosing the mirror LOL! -
I just ran across a lady on these boards who is not losing to a "normal" BMI because she wants to avoid too much excess skin and the plastics. She did start with a BMI in the mid 50s though. I have noticeable excess skin under my arms, on my upper, inner thighs. My poor boobies are deflated tube socks, but those can be stuffed in a bra. The skin is somewhat lose everywhere else but not sos you'd notice and not on my face. My real problem is my lower stomach above my C-section scar and below the navel. Plastic scare me to death, but I do not think I can deal with this forever. I have 50 pounds to go and it's just going to get worse. At my age (47) all this skin ain't going anywhere. That said: when I lost 80 pounds in my 30s with Phetermine, my pooch was not as bad. You look pretty young. It might not be an issue. Like everyone here will tell you: Having a little extra skin is a trade I'd make any day.

How Many Times A Day Do You Eat
Catracks replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never lost my love of food. I am still a total foodie. I don't know if it will hurt me in the long run. Eating because I had to never entered the equation. Now if I'm not hungry, I just don't eat. It all balances out in my case. I don't eat highly processed food anymore except for my habitual Lipton Cup-a-Soup, the Protein powders and the stupid Crystal Light that I seem to be tethered to (I hate plain water). If I wasn't hungry, 3 meals would do I suppose. Right now to me it sounds restrictive and depriving (sounds like the old "D" word) -- unless I could stretch each meal to two or three hours long which is sort of what I do. I think it keeps my blood sugar level steady throughout the day.
