Eye opening, but I figured as much. With the Lays potato chips, you can just lay them on a napkin for a minute and they leave a grease stain. I am unable to refrain from binging on certain things even now so I don't have them in the house or substitute healthier options in their place. I save my treat (a slice of rustic bread with Peanut Butter or almond butter) for when I'm hiking or paddling. I'm not suffering for it so it's okay for me (I say as I gnaw on a pork chop bone). Pork is on the menu and this carnivore couldn't be happier. The carbs I do eat are in the form of vegetables, fruits and the occasional sweet potato or even more rarely a white potato, whole wheat Pasta or quinoa. I don't do sugar outside a square of dark chocolate. It whatever works for you. I was a volume eater and I know what I can and cannot handle. Potato chips and onion dip turns me in Gollum after the ring so I don't go there. Cat sucks at moderation with some things.

As soon as I got to the mushies phase I starting shake hot sauce and chili paste into things. Didn't bother me any. Your mileage many vary.

It is an automatic bar to enlistment. I did read the reg, but I cannot find it just now. You can check into waivers, but no matter what your MOS, you are expected to be a grunt soldier always. You never know when a person can find themselves in a combat situation. You need to be able to ingest a lot of calories in a short time and you cannot choose your food.

Is Anyone Doing Clean Eating Post-Op?
Catracks replied to BKMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't eat processed packaged foods, but do eat minimally processed foods like cheese and yogurt. I also use SF syrups in my shakes and baking. I just do not do well with refined sugar or corn syrup. Empty calories to me. The tend to make me stall too. Where I can I use fruit to sweeten. In nut butters (I make my own) I use coconut oil and it give it the slightly sweet taste. You might say that I am a modified paleo-diet. I eat lots of meats, vegetables, berries and nuts. I obviously to not do lowfat except that I do eat lowfat cottage cheese, Greek yogurt and 2% milk. They taste better to me than the full fat versions. -
I LOVE Tapatillo! I was able to tolerate hot things from the start. When I got to mushies, the first thing I ate were Beans with hot sauce. I always had an asbestos mouth and Iron stomach. My sleeve is the same way. BTW, when you get to regular foods, try marinating chicken wings in nothing but tapatillo and bake them at 420. Easy and GOOOOOD! Welcome to what we call "The Loser's Bench" JR!! Susan - Tapatillo might work better than some of the more watery hot sauces. I don't so much like it when it gets too soggy. Not sure. Maybe if you toss it well it will spread out.

You mean suck off the chocolate and give the peanuts to the dog? You are seriously dreaming :-) Kidding aside. sometimes my evening snack is a square of 82% dark chocloate and a few almonds. I think it's my one moderation thing, but I have read over and over how good for you dark chocolate is and how good for you almonds are. I know I have to keep this under control because I get sick on too much sugar and a tiny handful of nuts can net you 100 calories. 1/4 cup is near 200! Be very careful with popcorn. It's not for the early months. It's low calories and has good Fiber, but it's also a slider for some. I sprinkle cayenne and/or garlic salt on mine. I also have to watch my salt, but it's funny. I don't salt my food anymore. Only popcorn. All the nuts I eat are unsalted too. I never thought that would happen to me.

You named your sleeve "Hamilton?" Hee hee! Check out Eggface's website for Protein ice cream you can make yourself. I have this cheap soft serve maker and it takes 15 minutes. You can add nuts and things to it too. Mostly ourselves, more so at Gustavo Love ya!

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

Citrucel is like that too. Tastes like tang. Imagine my surprise when it solidified. Weird practical joke would be to replace someones Orange Crystal Light with some of that. WTH???!! Well yeah! Don't they let you walk at all? Too bad you cannot get into a pool yet. Maybe a few weeks from now? Zero gravity would feel nice :-) -
I sucked on a prime rib bone until the dog didn't even want it anymore.

Thanks. Thanks a lot.

What everyone else said - with emphasis that there is no magical window for weight loss and you are anything but a failure. I have 30 pounds to go and it's bit SLOW and full of stalls with me eating correctly. You can get back on tack. i know you can!

"Macho-Macho Man [lick] I want to be a Macho Man [lick] Yeah, I probably forgot that deliberately on purpose like POST THE PIC!

Yeah, I'm picturing people licking cheese puffs and crackers like maniacs, Mufasas-mom having to sit by cases of Fritos, labs eating soggy crackers doing happy dances... We're sick, you know that?

I really admire you folks who self paid and went to Mexico. It just seems like plastics are more invasive than the sleeve. If something went wrong then where would you go? What recourse? I was up and around after a couple days, but I'm thinking it will not be the case with a tummy tuck. My PCP has got that in hand. They will cover it probably. I have a ways to go because you need to stay at or around goal for 6 months or a year.

Yeah, but I could skip Doritos for the rest of my life. I have to say this: Doritos are NASTY! Even my daughter, the queen of Hot Cheetos and Hot Funyuns even proclaims Doritos "revolting." Got a Trader Joe's near you? They have good stuff - Tasty snackage that actually borders on healthy.

That tears it. I'm going to Whole Paycheck and getting the chis seeds. I HATE mowing the damned lawn. -
Yes, he's late 60s-70s. Funny, the older guy who did my upper endoscopy introduced himself as: The Dr. who is going to do your procedure so you may have 'elective" surgery.'" Okaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Dorrie, it's not so bad that I have open sores like some do. It just gets red and sweaty. I am basically ignoring his advice to live with this forever, but keeping him as he is a nice man and knows his stuff in other areas. He just does not believe in plastics.

Abbybeep, pointing someone in a good direction is not "judging." The word is overused. There is nothing wrong with pointing out alternatives. Mine would be to wait 3 or 6 months (whatever his surgeon says about popcorn) and try air popped or stove popped popcorn (with a teeny bit of olive oil) with hot sauce sprinkled on it. Stay away from all movie theater and microwave popcorn. Popcorn is better without the added fat and chemicals. Check out TheworldaccordingtoEggface. She's got the best recipes for sleevers and gastric bypass people.

WTH???!!!! Just take a slug of whiskey. That is totally unacceptable and downright creepy. Thank for the heads up.

I wish I could manage to come up with good retorts like Wheetsin. I occasionally manage, but not always. While I've never been told that I should be shopping in another section, I have been pointedly ignored at more upscale department stores. People can be stupid jerks. People, don't let jerks ruin your day. They shouldn't have that kind of power over you. If anything you should feel for them because they think nothing of hurting other people's feelings or feeling superior.

I tried the reduced fat cheese and found that they did not melt well. It's also next to impossible to find a variety of cheeses that are fat free and I never met a cheese i didn't like. Tilset smells like feet though. I do stay away from pre-shredded cheeses. First you are limited to the homogenized, lame/same old varieties, second, they add cellulose to stop it from clumping and third, it costs more. I did tend to use a lot of cheddar for the midwest hotdish/casserole stuff I used to do, but I love everything from aged provolone to Camembert and everything in between. I think I might have fruit and cheese tonight. Perfect for a 100+ degree day. Fat free cheese is a sacrilege.

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

There are not many things that make me gag, but prune juice is it. I don't like dates either. Sometimes dark raisins smell funny to me. I think it's something about the dark, dried fruits that turn me off. I love dried apricots, golden raisins, dried cranberries and blueberries. Go figure. -

My mother is like that. She can't eat broccoli, cabbage, onions, asparagus or anything like that. I apparently have a bomb proof gut. Hate to be TMI, but I have a BM every single morning. I think I would pop otherwise. I've always been that way. Prune juice! Blechh!!!!!!
