Fast tracking to a new life!
Driver Deb replied to DollyGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have chosen one of the finest centers to have your surgery. UC Davis is world renowned. Best of luck to you and congratulations !! -
I am a firm believer that we create our own reality. We created the "fat world" we have lived in and we create the "failure mode" we set ourselves up for. I have spent the last couple of years working with a life coach who made me realize that if I wanted success, all I had to do was create it. Create it in my mind first, then watch it become reality. If I want happiness, I create it. I make it real in my mind and it radiates out and becomes real. If I want anything to manifest in my life, I have the power to make it happen, simply by believing that I do. It is a beautiful thing, and we are all able to do it... if we make it so. We do not have this power over other people or material objects, but we have free will to create "our world" the way we want it to be. I spent years miserable and unhappy waiting for someone to make my life worth living... never realizing that the someone was me all along. Maybe you can understand and relate to what I am trying to convey. I am so excited for all of us that have chosen to make our realities worth living.

Are sleevers allowed to take nsaids for pain ? I know they are off limits for RNY patients because of the chances for ulcers.

Congratulations !! I too am going to be ready for surgery the end of November or early December. I am so excited to have this done during the holidays. I view it as a christmas gift to myself and an early birthday gift too (Jan.). It just happens to be the best time for me to be away from work too, as the winter months are the slowest at work.

September 27th is my date!! Now my marriage has gone from bad to worse!!
Driver Deb replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your husband threatened to remove you from his insurance policy if you decide to go ahead with the surgery?? Do ultimatums work on you and does he always get his way by making threats?? I'm sorry, but that is awful !! I think he feels threatened that other men will find you attractive if you lose weight... that is called insecurity. -
Advice for Family Members
Driver Deb replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my mom to most of my appointments and classes. She was scared at first but soon became my main support person. Youtube videos are very informative too if you can't get your mom to attend visits with you. -
Freaking out already!
Driver Deb replied to kalyssa8392's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am pre op also, but I have heard that the more you work out before surgery the easier the recovery. Get that heart and lungs working good before surgery and you will be up walking around just hours after. -

I have heard lots about Biotin, but has anybody tried...
Driver Deb replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had surgery yet, but I have been taking Biotin, coQ10, flax seed oil and Krill oil for years. My hair is almost waist length, strong and shiny. I started taking it because I was clogging up the shower drain with hair. I don't clog the drain anymore... -
Fear Of Crime And Mexico Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Driver Deb replied to pataroony's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Foxbins is right... My BF's sister lives in Mexico and even he refuses to drive into Mexico. He says we fly in and rent a car or we don't go. It's too risky to announce you are a foreigner. -
I pray for my boobs to disappear !!! I am a 42 DDD and I hate them !!! I want a B cup !!

What do I tell people?
Driver Deb replied to DreamLife36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure... but when we are asked for our opinions and you choose to call names of people who don't give you the answers you want, don't expect to sweep the sh*t under the rug so easily. It pisses me off to waste my time on people who claim to want opinions, but don't !!! -
What do I tell people?
Driver Deb replied to DreamLife36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow... You jumped down my throat and accused me of being cruel because I wouldn't help you make up a believable lie ?? That's CLASSLESS !!! -
What do I tell people?
Driver Deb replied to DreamLife36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You said... "They know that I had surgery. What do I tell them when they ask me what type of surgery I had? Ive tried the " major abdominal surgery" excuse, but I think I need something better..more specific. What should I say?" Sooo, you posted this thread looking for support ? or you posted this thread asking for a believable lie to tell people ? BECAUSE the title says you are searching for a believable lie... -

What do I tell people?
Driver Deb replied to DreamLife36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CALM DOWN !!! I did not intend to be cruel or call anyone a liar. I am not JUDGING anyone !!!! I am just saying that I think it is HELPFUL to share what you are going through and it could possibly open the minds of ignorant people who have misguided views of WLS. Sorry I did not mean to hit a nerve with you !!! -
When did you come to the point...

What do I tell people?
Driver Deb replied to DreamLife36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always like the honest answers. Why would you lie? Are you ashamed ? The reality is, when they see the weight dropping off, they are going to "talk" and come up with the truth all by themselves, no matter what you say.. People are not stupid. I say be honest !! WLS is nothing to be ashamed of and your experience could possibly help someone else. What if everyone on this board "lied"? We would never get the help we searched for.....
