    Post Op eye problems

I have chamomile tea, but I usually take it with a splenda! Do you think it's okay to have splenda? I will keep you posted about the eye problem. Thanks, Becky

    HATERS, HATERS, HATERS

Texas Diva, You have just got me a whole lot more excited about my surgery Oct 4th 2011!!! You look AMAZING!!! I am sad to read that you have haters!!! What is wrong with people? I have had a bunch of people at the weight loss clinic tell me to only tell the closest people to me and only the one's I knew would be supportive. I have told my immediate family and my closest friends, as well as a couple other (over weight friends) who I have found out have also had weight loss surgery! I didn't think anyone would be unsupportive, but I also don't want people to associate me as the "weight loss surgery girl". I realized what they meant when I called and told my uncle who lives in CA (I'm in WA). He was very weird about it and made me feel very awkward. Then he started telling me how to diet and what I should be doing to lose weight (as if I haven't tried and am going to cancel the surgery and just do what he says). I realized really fast why they said you can't un-tell people!!! I wish I could take that phone call back and just allow him to be upset with me later for not telling him! I also wish he had asked me questions about the surgery rather than lecture me on diet! Now he knows nothing about whats going on, and is no doubt telling my other CA relatives. He must have had some pent up frustrations because he also lectured me on my mom's health, saying that she is unhealthy. Yeah, she has terminal cancer! I would say that's unhealthy!!! She was obese her adult life like me, but has now lost a lot of weight due to the cancer. I am hoping he will call me soon and at least talk to me about it (I don't want to call him!) I am hoping he told my aunt and she will talk sense into him. We are very close and I would hate for this to drive a wedge between us! WOW, thanks to anyone who reads this whole thing! I guess I really needed to get this off my chest! I look forward to hopefully start looking like a coke bottle soon!!!! I really don't think I will have any haters, but if I do.... They are not worth my time!
  3. All I know is what my Dr told me. Because I am in a research study here in Everett, WA, they have asked that I not get pregnant for 3 years during the study. My Dr then smiled and told me that it was best to wait at least a year after the surgery before getting pregnant again (she said it's not good to get pregnant when you are rapidly losing weight). She said I would have no problem being pregnant after the surgery. I guess it makes sense.... I couldn't eat that much when I was pregnant due to the baby squishing my stomach. The reality is that you only need an extra 300 calories a day for a growing baby. People say you eat for 2, but it's just not true. I ABSOLUTELY plan on having another baby when the time comes that I can safely get pregnant again. I would say.... Definitely talk to your Dr about it! I am not worried at all since my Dr put me at ease about it!
  4. I have read everything I can on the plication surgery, including the journals and information from other countries. I believe it was south america that has been doing the surgery for the longest period of time (8 years). Everything said that the patients kept the weight off! There was nothing about the sutures dissolve that I read! I have not had the surgery yet (Oct 4th), but my surgeon said that the sutures would stay forever, but not to think that it was reversible down the road because the stomach and scar tissue would somewhat grow together. I guess it would all depend on what kind of sutures the Dr uses. I sure hope that article is WRONG!!! Becky
  5. I am having my plication surgery on Oct 4th, 2011 and I was wondering if anyone had tips or advise on things I should do before surgery, or things I should have ready in the house for after surgery? I am feeling like I need to prepare, but I don't know how!
  6. I kind of with I was staying in the hospital too! Unfortunately, they will be sending me home that same day! I am going to ask my DR about all the meds you took that worked. I have my pre-op appointment on the 26th, so I am assuming that's when they'll talk to me about drugs! I am also going to make sure I get low sodium vegetable broth!!! I don't want to have those issues!! Thanks again and congratulations on your success!!!
  7. Thank you!! I didn't think about taking tempting food out of the house! I will get on that right away (my poor husband will suffer though
  8. I am having my surgery at the Northwest Weight Loss Surgery in Everett, WA. I am very excited and just a little nervous! I haven't really talked to the doctor about what pain meds I will be on. I guess I will ask when I have my pre-op appointment. I am a bit worried that the pain meds will make me nauseas without being able to eat solid foods. What was your experience with that? I did find a really good yogurt smoothie at costco! It is made by the same company that makes the Protein shakes. I will definitely stock up on vegetable broth (I'm also a vegetarian .

Thank you! You are right, I should ask my surgeon to answer these questions. I am quite impressed with your results with the sleeve!!! I see stats like yours and get so excited that I may have the same results!!! Thanks again!!! Becky
