To Spanx or not to Spanx ??
CHEZNOEL replied to dionalyne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wear mine for loose skin... but it got too big! Yay! -
Keep working your plan. Eat right and exercise as much as you can tolerate.

pre op diet how hard was it?
CHEZNOEL replied to ErinSue2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you seriously do not believe you can do the pre-op diet, then the post-op diet is not looking good. Is it fun, not really. Is it important, definitely. Your commitment level has to be 100%. Your WANT level has to be 200%. If you think this is not going to be possible for you, then walk away. Most Lap Band failures are caused by lack of patient compliance. Best wishes on your decision. Discuss your fears openly in the psychology consult. -
I agree 100% with ballajones. Never get the mindset that the band is the magic wand. To lose weight and keep it off you have to work hard and you have to WANT it!

Your input please....Lap Band or knee surgery first?
CHEZNOEL replied to happychick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My lap band eliminated the need for me to have the knee surgery. I would do the lap band first. -
Glad it went well!

Yes... I have had mostly .5cc for fills.

Did your doctor do this also?
CHEZNOEL replied to paigemomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have a pre-op diet either. As long as your doc is happy, you should be. He knows better than all of us what you need to do. Best of wishes for the surgery and recovery! -
I appreciate every post I read from you!

I doubt it. It is hard to see in the picture. I am assuming you had a TT and they moved it?
-
Great list, and great feelings for you all! You earned it my friend!
-
Foods likely to cause it.... soft bread, dry meats, scrambled eggs in too big of bites, anything not properly chewed to mush! Just take your time, tiny bites and chew, chew, chew. Slime is the sure sign, but you will probably cough or feel the golf ball in your chest first.

Congrats... the journey begins!

Give the band time to work. While you are waiting for fills learn what is good to eat with your band, and begin to learn portions and chewing. Fills are not the whole answer. The band and fills are not a magic wand, you will have to work for what you want!

? conveting from band to sleeve - has anyone at or near goal weight done this?
CHEZNOEL replied to mary murphy-dematteo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear you had to remove your band. Best of luck in the future whatever you decide to do. -
How Bad Did I Mess Up?
CHEZNOEL replied to jennygirl37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This falls into the category of "if you have to ask...." The answer is probably no, but the whole point of the pre-diet is to shrink the fat around your liver so the surgeon can see what he is doing while in there. Doesn't want to nick the liver, for example. Be good and help him help you as much as you can! Good luck with the surgery, but I will say, try to stick with your post-op diet, it is meant to provide proper healing, and that is important. Just do what the doc says... you paid him after all! -
Brand Newbie here - Getting banded 2/1!
CHEZNOEL replied to NJDanielle27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome and congrats on getting a surgery date. Come back often..we don't bite... well, at least not most of the time! Best Wishes! -
I agree with Cheryl, a healthier you will make a healthier baby!

I read so many of these "starting over" posts that I thought I would state the following. You are not starting over... you are continuing your lifestyle with new parameters. We can;t go back and undo what we ate last week. Just accept it, learn from and make better choices for your future. That is what life with the band is all about.

One other thought, many of the sugar alcohols... that in in "ose" can cause diarrhea in some people if they eat it in large quantities.
-
I agree... sugar free. Use stevia sweeteners if at all possible. They are becoming more available. There has been research that says the the other sweeteners trigger the same "blood sugar" reaction as natural sugar, while stevia does not and my be better for people with diabetes.

Give it time. It will come.

I agree with Floridays, I did lose weight during the healing phase, but I was very strict about portions sizes and chewing and small bites as i got to solid food. Don't rush your body. Cheating early one can be more dangerous since your body is healing. A plan to cheat all the time is a recipe for failure.
