Long term you should have not trouble, but I would wait at least 6-8 weeks for full healing at the port site. If you need to dance sooner, then by all means ask you surgeon.

Mileage may vary, is the unfortunate answer. I like some others here think you should consult a nutritionist, preferable one that is familiar with lap band surgery.

How did you feel on the liquid diet?
CHEZNOEL replied to stephgfl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had no problem with either the pre-op or post-op diets. I guess I just knew I had to do it and decided not to fight. I really wanted the band, so I was up for just about anything! -
Lots of good info here. If you have specific questions I am sure you will get answers from the folks on here.

Pass the Small Fork...
CHEZNOEL replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did at first, and now that I can judge bite sizes I just use regular. -
Old article, old stats. Ask your doctor what his numbers are. I see far more successes than failures here, and trust me the failures yell the loudest. Keep in mind one of the number one causes of band failure is lack of patient compliance. You have to really WANT to succeed to be a success.

Checking in one day post op
CHEZNOEL replied to shaunamswenson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first couple of days are the worst. Try to move around and walk as much as possible to help with the gas pains, and be sure to get your liquids in! -
Set up a consult and talk to the professionals. But there is a lot of good information here that you should read and understanding before making a final decision. Pick a doctor with a support group, nutritionist, psychologist, etc to be sure you are properly prepared and supported for your journey!

When is this "tool" going to show up?
CHEZNOEL replied to audreycat123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Time is our ally. If we do what we are supposed to do the band will help. I believe! -
It is worth the proceeds. I wish I had considered it earlier in life!

No Pre-op Diet... Liver too big?
CHEZNOEL replied to CatLady0626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your doc did not give you a per-op diet, don't stress. It is unlikely they will peek and run! -
Also many sauces thicken up with time in the fridge. Add some water to these. Law of lap band idiosycracies... Just because it went down once does not guarantee it always will. All it takes is minor change in bite size or chewing. Good Luck!

Keep posting and you will connect. Feel free to PM me as well until you find your niche. Welcome aboard!

I agree... you need to work on what causes you to eat and address those problems up front. It take a whole psychological change in our behavior and lifestyle to be successful. Do not expect the band to do all the work. It will not. Good luck to you.
