Vitamin D and Calcium Supplement after being banded
CHEZNOEL replied to bar2373's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are seriously Vit D deficient then they have prescribed a large dose that should be available with insurance. I would ask by pharmacist. The amount you need may not be available over the counter. -
Just remember it is not a race. Slow and steady wins the prize.

i need some feed back
CHEZNOEL replied to MsRhonda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is hard to tell. I would go with what the doctor told you to do. Don't eat and talk on the phone at the same time. It is too easy to get distracted. It sound like you are tight to me if you can only take four bites. You do chew right? -
Most long term lap band patients can eat anything we want, with care. Some things we choose to eliminate as empty, or not nutritious choices. I have eaten pizza.... small pieces chewed to mush. You can have whatever you want if you take the care to use band eating rules. Small, tiny bites and chew, chew, chew. No, I do not make a steady diet of pizza, but one piece had not killed me yet! LOL. Best wishes.

Ask away... if you get input you don't like, ignore it. Use the good and throw out the bad. There is something for everyone on here. -
Hooray! I am glad you figured out what the problem was. Your diet sounded very restricted before and I know you were frustrated. Congratulations for working it through. P.S. I LOVE you profile picture!

Some times if you eat too much too fast this can happen. I have never had a problem with it.

Infection with my port..
CHEZNOEL replied to lozjacko's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not uncommon, but it seems to heal well with antibiotics. You will do fine. Just follow docs orders. -
Good advice CG. Rhonda, try to get your head in the game. You can do do this if you focus!

And so the hunger returns....
CHEZNOEL replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can overcome. You have made great progress so far. Make sure you keep your protein up front and drink plenty of liquids. It is a very common occurrence at this point. Be strong! The best way to get all your protein in is to set a schedule. 2-3 ounces of protein every hour, on the top of the hour, then sip other liquids for the rest of the hour and repeat. In waking hours that will net you more than enough protein. Good luck! -
I only eat if I have nothing else to do! Carb addict!

hardest bandster rule to follow for me..
CHEZNOEL replied to gldngrrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was a food flusher. Eat, chew, drink, repeat. It has taken me over a year and while I get it right most of the time, I still have lapses. It is a tough habit, but keep working on it and it gets better. -
The port area is the last to heal fully. As you move around during the day it is possible you are straining it. I agree with Dawn though, the doctor is the final word.

Count the calories and sip away!

Good luck with the new fill.

Ready to Schedule Surgery
CHEZNOEL replied to dmprem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rev up your want power and stop eating like you never will again. Most people with bands can eat everything they could before banding just in smaller quantities and slower more deliberate chewing. You will need to follow the orders of your doctor in order to succeed. This is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change. Pick a surgeon that has a strong support staff, NPs, Nutritionists, Pyschologists, and support groups. You will need them all on your journey! -

Need help on foods to eat
CHEZNOEL replied to sassysissy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
At first, just keep things moist and make sure you are really chewing them to much. Take small bites. By the way even soft foods like scrambled eggs will need to be chewed or could get stuck. -
Nope... but if you are in the service, I have heard having the surgery will disqualify you from service. Check it out.

Walk, heating pad. It is the kind of gas that most things like Gas-x don't help. Try windmilling your arms as you walk. Congrats on the surgery, luckily, this phase passes quickly!

So sorry. Now I am glad my doc insisted on drains. They were a pain in the butt and I hated them, but at least avoided this complication. Keep you positive attitude and this too will pass. Hugs to you!
