My first plateau, an observation....

Never give up! Never ever give up! You will win in the end! -
Ever hear the saying that you get what you pay for? I would stick with a doc that knows me.

Thanks for the post... I wish you well.

Just got banded 01/03/13 I am gain weight.
CHEZNOEL replied to lynziv's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree... no weighing for at least 8 weeks. The scales make us crazy! -
If it works for you, go for it.

OK... I will be the downer. The real answer is it does not matter how much fill is in my band. What matters is how you and your doc think you are doing with whatever fill you have. Many on this forum have lost close to 100 pounds with NO FILLS!!! We are all different, and comparing is a dangerous game to play. Do what works for you and do not rely on fills to get you to your goal. Your goal is a new lifestyle not just losing weight. Learn how to eat better as you lose if you want permanent long lasting results. I am still learning myself, even though getting close to goal. Good luck on your journey, it is a new lifetime.

What do you bring to hospital?

And bring a supporter! Walk when you can! -
Protein 3-4 ounces, 1/4 cup veggies, and 1/4 cup of a starch is you have room. Tiny bites, and chew everything to mush! The world opens up from here. Be very careful with meats that are at all dry. add some sauce.... aids chewing and swallowing. Congrats on your progress.

Question on the day after
CHEZNOEL replied to New_girl_in_town's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you tried to drink too much at once. Lap Band mantra... sip, sip, sip. The swelling goes down and you will be able to tolerate larger amounts soon. Congrats on the surgery. -
Focus on getting your nutrients from real food, not just liquids. Lap Band lets us eat real food, just smaller quantities. Anyone can do a liquid only diet, but for how long? I am in this for life!

CHEZNOEL replied to healthylifestyle4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Milk it girlfriend! But DO follow post-op instructions about eating! Most important for healing. -
And try to add some veggies. If you pockets get too full... buy yourself a lunch bag and be styling! Good job planning for today!

How small is a small bite? And how many times do you chew it?

Hairstyles may keep some black women from exercise

It would seem to be a case of what to you want. I don't love my hair sweaty either, but I do love losing weight. -
I hope you are approved quickly too. But... the wait is worth it. Good luck to you. Learn as much as you can before surgery!
-
Good luck with your decision, it sounds like the band might work well for you.
-
This is also known as bandster hell, since you cannot have a fill and are starting to feel hungry between meals. Make sure you get some good protein all three meals. Just a banana is not enough.
-
Sounds like the gas the pump in. Try to walk whenever you can, windmill your arms, and try a heating pad. This will pass soon! Congratulations on the surgery and welcome to the banded life!

stuck but no fill yet
CHEZNOEL replied to 4sweeties's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bites too big, not chewing enough, food too dry... could be any of the above. But... If you have slimed, you should back off to liquids for a day to allow the irritation to subside. It def. sounds like a stuck episode. If it continues, please contact your doctor. -
Good luck to you all!

What happened to the original band?

It takes the brain a long time to catch up. Memory is tough to overcome. It helps me to realize the difference sizes I am now wearing. 80 pounds is amazing!
