I am at 19 months and my band is still effective. Many people get several fills in the first year to reach restriction. Talk to your surgeon about how he works. I have had 5 fills in 19 months.

You go girl. You will be banded before you know it! I have never regretted mine.

I'm confused about nutrition and what my nutritionist said?
CHEZNOEL replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Protein is what keeps you full for the longest. What your nutritionist said sounds like for 1 meal, and you should have at least 3 a day. I try for 60-80 grams of protein. -
I can take most of the pills I could before surgery. The only change I made was to Calcium minis. Everyone is different. Try chewables until you find on you like. Many people like the gummies.

Strange Question about Breath
CHEZNOEL replied to DebHas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you eating high protein and very low carbs you body could be in ketosis which does cause bad breath. Try increasing your healthy carbs. -
My favorite is the chocolate spendor, and the unflavored is good in things like Lo cal OJ and soups.

Never give up Shelley, Never ever give up! You know what to do. Just focus and start losing those pounds. Best wishes. -
Many people are allergic to the strips or glue. I was very itchy until they were all off.

Pre-Op Diet for June 10th Surgery
CHEZNOEL replied to ArtM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take it one day a time. I am 19 months out from surgery and can eat anything I want, just less of it. I find I have no desire to overeat. It is not worth the stuffed feeling afterwards. Hang in there. You will do fine! -
I would check in with the surgeon and nutritionists for ideas. If you have not had a fill in a year, then it may be time to check back in.

My band tightness varies with stress and sometimes time of day. Nearly always tight in the mornings. Talk to your surgeon if the problems continue.
-
The number of scars varies by surgeon, ask your what his approach is. I had five and they are all but gone now. I can wear a two piece without feeling like Frankenstein! LOL!

What a great NSV! Proud of you Donna. Makes all the struggles worthwhile. -
Sound yummy, to Super Target I go!
-
Congratulations on your surgery. Take care of yourself and you will back up to snuff in no time. Walk and sip! Best wishes and welcome to the journey!
-
I had a small 2 cc fill at the time of surgery and that was enough. Each doctor is different in what they find works with their patients.
-
I would agree that your blood pressure and high BMI should make you eligible for insurance payment. Either way, the journey is worth it! I wish you every success with the program you choose.
-
Once the process starts you are on your way to a healthier you! Congratulations!
-
You are in charge of you! Congratulations on seeing it through! Keep up the good work!

Your PCP and you surgeon would be the best to advise you. I chose LB because I wanted to avoid more intrusive surgery. Each of us is different and need to decide what is best along with our doctors and other support systems.

Wishing you great success. Learn all you can and keep on keeping on. It is a lifestyle change for sure, but one I have never regretted.
-
Fills are not that bad. It is just an unknown and far less serious than the surgery. You will be fine. Just remember liquids only for 24 hours after the fill. Best wishes!
-
Good luck to you. Just make sure you follow doctor's order and you will do great! Who you share with is your choice!
-
Call your doctor to be sure. I think unless you have had a fill or a stuck which is unlikely at 7 days, you are just healing, but I am NOT a doctor, so call if you have any doubts. That's why he gets paid the big bucks!

Wishing you both well!
