CHEZNOEL replied to txflea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stock up on gas-x strips and don't forget chapstick. You will both do fine! Congratulations on your surgery dates. Come back to let us know how you make out! Lapband is the best thing I have ever done for myself! -
Practice makes perfect?
CHEZNOEL replied to beanie80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are very wise to start changing eating habits now. It took years to develop the ones we had, and it will likely take a good while to change them. I am at 17 months, and still catch myself cramming in food like I am in a hot dog eating contest. I takes constant focus, and we have to work for what we want. Best wishes to you. I found that when I chew more, I do not need to wash my food down with liquid. I do however drink right up until I start eating. Hope this helps. -
Good luck on beginning the journey again!

Congrats on the NSV! We missed you!

For the liquid phases try this: At the top of each hour drink 2-3 ounces of a Protein based liquid. Each 15 minutes thereafter you should be sipping a hydrating liquid. Repeat... that way you are essentially adding protein every hour. This worked very well for me. I am on three regular lapband meals now, but I always carry a Protein Bar in case I can't get to the meal within 5 hours. Best wishes.

Ask for the doggy bag up front, and leave only what seems to be your appropriate portion on your plate for the meail.

Spanx could be squeezing in the wrong places.

You put me to shame!

It sounds like the swimming may have stretch the muscle your port is sewn to. Take it easy for a while and It should feel better. It is unlikely your band has slipped, but if you are concerned, definitely call your doctor.

Go to the pre-op section of the forum and read up! Buy a book. It takes a book to tell you everything, and several have already been written! Good luck on the process. -

Much of what you list is slider foods. Pick things you have to chew!

Do not be surprised if any scale you purchase does not exactly match the doctor's scales. Good news for me, his is always 3 pounds lighter.

The key is anything but food. But Rejoicing works for me! That and sharing the event with hubby or friends.

What is your BMI? Maybe he just wanted you to feel better? It is important in my opinion to have a good relationship with the surgeon. If your makes you uncomfortable, may try a different doctor in the practice? Just a thought! Good luck!

I agree, time for a checkup with both the doctor and the nutritionist. They can help! Good Luck!

Well... the gold standard is Phosphate soda. It tastes nasty by it does work. It comes in a small bottle OTC and you mix with water and drink it. If that does not help, contact your doctor to see about an enema.

Prayers for you both. -
Good Luck and try not to worry!
-
If you get stuck all the time, get an unfill! If you are not restricted you must be eating slider foods. Time for a chat with th Doc and Nutritionist.

getting banded excited & scared and not sure how to tell family and friends
CHEZNOEL replied to readysetg070113's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Buy a book about lapband surgery, On the Bandwagon, or the one advertised here and read it cover to cover. Go to the presurgery forums and start there and progress your way through. Best advise is learn as much as possible before the surgery. Does your doctor offer seminars? If so, GO! Good luck! -
Questions about life affer the surgey
CHEZNOEL replied to lopezm34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you post op? How much fill do you have. There is nothing I cannot eat with proper chewing. Do you eat fish? Cod and halibut are good as is salmon and tuna. Other cooked vegetables should work... squash, green Beans, lima beans, collard greens, etc. chicken salad with LF mayo or greek yogurt. I you are choking on everything you need to call your doctor for a consult and possible unfill. Good Luck! -
Thanks for the tips.
