    Protein Shakes

I like the taste of Unjury. They sell sample packets on line. Best taste I have found. But keep watch on the carbs in whatever you choose.!

    Eating Out While Traveling

Good job! Traveling adds it challenges. Look closely at the appetizers, they will often give you a low volume out! Keep up the good work! I know it will pay off for you!
  3. Good luck on the thigh lift! It is the one surgery that I struggled with, because I was still too heavy when I had it done. With you at goal weight, you should do fine!
  4. Immediately after the fill, you should use liquids or soft foods only for 24 hours. Just remember to chew, chew, chew! I have had good results with seafood in all forms!
  5. My hair loss stopped a bout 6 months in. Add BIotin and Zinc to your daily vitamins. I think it helped me.

    Week 1 Help!

Ist week, some pain, some gas in shoulders, any liquid or non solid. Mostly Protein shakes and Crystal lite for me. I also drank some clear broths and after the first week just blended up chicken noodle soups. Focus on protein. My doc has me drink 2 oz of protein at the top of every hour and other sugar free liquids the rest of the hour. That kept me full. Try to drink something at least every 15 minutes. Walk, walk, walk and if you have back or shoulder pain try windmilling your arms as you walk. Walk somewhere every hour even if it is only to refill your liquids. May be TMI but don't expect a lot of BMs. My doc would not even consider a laxative until after 5 days. Follow the advice given by your doc and try to relax. Nervous makes you hungrier! Good luck and keep us posted on your journey!

    Thinking About Lapband...

Welcome. The surgery is fast, so the time under anesthesia is short. I have had numerous experiences with anesthesia, but the Lap Band was the shortest recovery. Ask your questions here, there are great folks on board who will be happy to help you. This first group meeting is milestone number 1! Congratulations!

    Setting New Goal

    Who wants to join me?
  10. Sometimes it pays to be short! Good luck with you approval!
  11. You can do it! Start with SOFT solid foods though. The goal is make sure you are successful with that first non liquid meal. I did 3 weeks post op as well! Good Luck on your journey!
  12. Glad you found out what was wrong. Good luck on your decision making!

    Am I A Liar?

Are you a liar? By omission perhaps, but I personally believe it is a dis-service to give the easy lap band answer. It discounts the REAL work and effort that we all have to put in to e successful. And you know what? You gain weight on the lap band if you don't work with it! Give your self a break. I tell medical personnel who need to know and only immediate family and 2 very close friends. Even at that both of my daughters disapproved. We do need support, but you have to be careful where you go for it!

    Would You Do It Again?

Without question I would do it again! I have been on a slow roll for the last couple of months, and go up and down 2 lbs or so, but I feel so much better! And... I no longer need knee replacement! There is no doubt that I made the right decision!

    It Does Get Better!

Keep up the good work and focus. It really is worth it!

    Contstipation?

I am almost a year from surgery and still on stool softeners and miralax twice a week. Don't forget that a daily BM is not the norm for Bandsters!
  19. Use protein shakes... get your protein in and you calories. Try 2-3 oz pf protein every hour, and that should help you fill full. Not a lot of protein in popsicles and jello. You need protein shakes.

    Protein?

Cottage cheese is my breakfast staple!

I Need Some Fellow Bandsters Opinions!

Definitely the protein powders will be less costly over time. In a pinch look for EAS Advantage Carb Control ready to drink shakes. They are pretty tasty and low in carbs, hence low in sugar.

    Medical Alert Bracelets

I found no Medic alert bands at the site you listed.

    Great Expectations

So true Jean. I no longer tell people that I lost all my weight with a lap band. It is almost a dis-service to encourage more people to think that banding is a the magic bullet! This is real work people. I am almost one year since surgery and only 2 fills!
  24. Sorry... Look for PB2. It come in plain and chocolate. It is really tasty added to protein shakes. It is a powder form.
