This is why you should not weigh daily. Yes, your wight can fluctuate that much. Focus on the long term. We all experience weight hills and valleys. The period could contribute a lot.

CHEZNOEL replied to Arizonakimc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you may be too tight, or perhaps even had a slight slippage. See the doctor right away! -

I'm New And I Have No Idea What To Expect
CHEZNOEL replied to deb2006's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Port: small (approx 1 inch diameter) button like device which is attached by tubing to your lapband. This is how the doctor will add or subtract liquid from your band as needed. This is also called a "Fill" or and "unfill." The added liquid in the band will make it tighter around your upper stomach and reduce the amount of food you can eat before you feel full. The port is generally place against the abdominal muscles just below the skin. This is so that it can be easily located for the fill procedures. Not to scare you off, but you need to know that fills are done using a needle inserted through the skin into the membrane on the port. There are two port profiles, one is taller than the other and may protrude more. I asked for the lower profile port since I am a "figitter" and was afraid the higher profile would cause me to rub it all the time. Turned out not to be a problem, I rarely think about now that I am 1 year out from surgery. BANDWAGON® is where I found the book! Keep it up you asking good questions! -
I'm New And I Have No Idea What To Expect
CHEZNOEL replied to deb2006's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OK... lapband basics... Buy the book by Jean McMillan and read it cover to cover! (an unpaid commercial) The amount of weight you lose varies by person, but you doc should be able to help you set a reasonable goal. Many docs have a pre-surgery diet to help shrink your liver, some don't Start NOW with trying and tasting various protein shakes. You will be on them from 2-3 weeks post surgery, so sample now and be stocked up on you favorites before surgery. I have found several that are very good. The powders are cheaper in the long run. Nashua nutrition allows you to order samples. http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html?_vsrefdom=google1&gclid=CIzH54m1nLMCFQWe4AodV2kA0Q Also start now with lapband eating protocols. Nothing to drink 30 minutes before eating, nothing to drink with meals, nothing to drink for 30 minutes after eating. Chew, chew chew with very small bites. This will help prevent stuck food episodes with the band, and it gives your body time to send you the "full" signals before you overeat. After surgery, you may have gas pains in your upper chest and back. Walk, walk, walk! I found that windmilling arms while walking helped with the gas. Recovery is not as bad as you might imagine. My surgery was outpatient and took less than 45 minutes. Ask you doc NOW about port size. There are two, one is shallower than the other and will not protrude as much once you have lost weight. Follow all doctors orders and do not be hesitant to call in with questions. That is what you are paying for. Keep posting and asking your questions here. You will find a lot of support and great ideas. We have all been where you are now, and this is a caring and giving group. Best wishes! If you have specific questions, ask them. -

My plan is to stay flat weight wise. Allow yourself small bites of favorites, then back to the Band Basics! -
Scheduled For November 26Th (6 Pounds Down)
CHEZNOEL replied to duncanrum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great way to start the journey. The good news is that if you stay away from dessert, Thanksgiving food is not too bad on the weight. Watch your portion sizes and chew, chew, chew. It is good practice for the rest of your life post surgery. Best wishes to you. Keep us posted on your progress. -
Great words of wisdom. Post away!

Is Self Pay Worth It? Austin, Tx Area

NOT FUNNY! -
As I have said before, sometimes I think telling people about the band is a disservice to all of us. We work dang hard, and don't you ever forget. As an aside many years ago I lost 25 pounds on weight watchers, then gained back 50! My WW leader had lost 100 lbs. I saw her the other day, 10 years out ans she weighs 300+!! It's long term that matters!

Afraid Of My Band!!!
CHEZNOEL replied to Randi Cartmill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must eat sometime! Pick something easy, tiny bites and chew. Like CG said, you cannot live your whole life that way. Start with solids one meal a day. You WILL have a stuck episode, everyone does, but you know right away what you did and you won't ever do that again. Live it up and don't be overcome by a little bitty band! -
Great news! Thanks for letting us know how you did. The journey begins! I am proud of you!

Amen CG, amen!

OK... so I have been on here for a year with a goal of 175 lbs. I made that goal last month, but ever since I have been fluctuating up as much as 4-5 pounds. So... as of today I have reset my goal to 165 pounds and recommitted. I will henceforth stop standing on my high horse and get back to work! 165 or bust!!!

For pasta, try the Dreamfields, it has mostly non digestible carbs and works for diabetics. -
Try Jeanne's book, Bandwagon! It is great and you should both read it before you start!
